I've said this before, but I think it bares repeating.
For those of us who are not comfortable with the lack of disclosure on what is planned to be placed in the MT shop, we simply need to wait. There is no need for prophets of doom or fanataics of delusion. I am certainly uncomfortable with Cryptic's behaviour since Atari became part of the picture, but there is not enough there yet for me to completely rule this pricing model out. Nor is there enough there yet for me to support it. Buying a lifetime sub for this game at this stage blows my mind with as risky an endeavour as this project is. But that is my perception. Others will enjoy the game now. I will save a few bucks while they enjoy it. I will benefit from their findings in game and make my decision to purchase based on that.

See you added "that is my perception". It is your opinion but your not trying to force it on anyone. The exact can be said also, as an opinion.
yay not even a month in and its $8 more just to have everything in the game!
thats a $23 sub fee first month, sweet.
So I guess you dont play Everquest 2, SWG (but really who does), or WoW..they all offer vanity style items like the pets shown on the cash shop...I mean really do you need EVERY pet? No. Do they mean anything? NO ..the only ones that do come from events that you couldn't have anyway unless you got the newsletter before the 31st, certain pre orders, and the early access. So even without the cash shop you STILL couldn't get everything in game anyway.
I really could careless what anyone has to say about the cash shop. Just playing the game proves that its nto built around it its merely for vanity needs. The day that changes how ever they'd be dealing with a shit storm of the style that destroyed SWG.
Crpytic have stated that there will be gameplay changing micro-transactions. It does not matter if you can get it in other ways, the kiddies with daddies credit card can buy unlimited amounts of them, while the in-game way of obtaining them will take a long time and effort. Guess who's gonna win?
Noone is blowing anything out of proportion, Cryptic stated it themselves. The fact that these items are not in the store from day 1 is completely irrelevant.
This fits the information released by Cryptic, and I agree with the likely impact on gameplay. Early beta testing had no item shop whatsoever. That did not mean that one was not on its way.
I simply disagree with game-changing microtransactions, and that's not likely to change. There are well-functioning, enjoyable games that have me pay only for 30 days of entertainment. All the rewards and enhancements can be earned as part of that entertainment value.
The game-changing RMT business model blows in a subscription based game.
RMT is the sole reason I won't be touching CO or other games with similar schemes. So it is kind of a big deal for me. And no, I won't get over it, too old and stubborn for that.
I guess then you won't be playing any MMO's then as ALL have RMTs in them. When you open your in game mail and see all of the offers for power leveling and gold transfers, those aren't FREE!!!. They take RMT to accomplish.
What I think you want to say is you just don't want the developers getting your money. While others have no problem paying RMT to gold spammers in the other games
Lol, so instead of paying some gold-farmer for xp, I can just pay cryptic for game-enhancements...or not. I choose not. No, I like the games where gold-farming is minimized and discouraged by the developers; not games where the developers ARE the gold farmers.
I'm afraid someone at Cryptic may have attended one of Smedley's conferences on ground-breaking new business models. Yeah, follow Smedley, he's always had a winning strategy :P

correct i dont play eq2, i wont play sony games since a sub fee or a mt model are not enough. Nope didnt play SWG.
WoW didnt introduce any of the other stuff until well into the game life. Since then I have quit WoW.
i am what people refer to as a "collector" in mmo's. I play to collect EVERYTHING. So Mt'ing items changes my gameplay drastically. So for me to get my optimal enjoyment of CO month 1 costs me $23 sub fee. CO isnt worth $23 a month.

No
Have a drink in my name IF it happens. "Damn him, Doubter was right!"
Sure
But then again that's my point you are claiming it's your opinion but your consistantly portraying it as a fact.
Why dont' they add retail items such as T shirts?
Or for fans of the mystical powersets, CO labeled Bongs of Power.

$5 re-specs. Oh boy.
Exactly.
