Learning curve? from the aspect of someone who has never played eq

I'm wondering how the learning curve will be for someone who has never played at all... I like what ive seen so far and am thinking of taking the plundge into the eq world, but frankly i have no clue what its about by this i mean the following:

1. Whats your main goal? is it to run around beating people up and earning things?
2. How much trading and selling goes on (IN GAME NOT ON EBAY) and what kind of trading sytem is there.
3. How deep is it? is it something I can relax and stroll around or is it a point to point quest?
4. whats the monthly cost going to be? also possibly the price of the game.
5. How many different things do you have to do at once? is it more like zelda(point to point games with the olution of an open ended gaming experiance), ff7(free roaming world with sub, worlds were you can chose what to do when ya wanna do it, while having several subquests your working on all at once)

6. Basicly any other info that might be helpful for me going into this thing with no knowlage of any prior MMORPG besides my beloved Motor city online (RIP)

the game starts with a tutorial boat ride explaining alot of basic things, then you go to a newbie island where you get explained more, then at level 6 you are send into the 'real' world, by that time everything should be pretty clear (besaides upgrading spells maybe).

    1. your main goal is to have fun, do what you wanna do, kill, talk, quest, skills, enjoy the scenery.

    2. you have a house/room that you have to enter and then you can go in trader mode, people can buy stuff from, also there is a trader channel where you can auction stuff.

    3. the game is way deep, you can do whatever you like, like in point 1, you can solo, quest, group, raid, tradeskill, sit and talk, run around zones enjoying the worl...anything.

    4. probably 15$ per month and the game probably 50$

    5. see point 1 and 3. do whatever you want when you want it.

check out the eq2 website and read the lore stories, check out classes, races, magic, spells, ect ect.
