Well I got a chance to play the new patch last night and I have to say that I agree with the vast majority in saying that the game difficulty was upped a little bit too much. I have been playing CO since closed beta. Last night I tried to complete a mission where you defeat a boss called Electric Eel while trying to collect some toxic waste and mutant fish samples under water in a river. In the past I would have simply swam up to the boss and whooped his sorry ass. I expected it would be harded but not 17 defeats harder! Yup that's right I was killed 17 times before actually defeating him. Others told me it took as few as 5 attempts for them, others again told me all I have to do is take "mines" or "Pyre" to defeat anything in the game because they forgot to nerf those powers. I did want the game to be more challenging but this is just a little over the top.
I have to agree, i was loving the game and having lots of fun in closed beta and beta but i do think the nerf has gone to far, some of these missions killing the electric eel and so on are now out of reach solo, and its just plain un-fun constantly dying trying to do missions that you have solo'd before.
But with the respec being to expensive to do you cant re-spec to try different powers to complete the mission, it means hanging about trying to find a group

The main issue I have with this respec system, besides the price scaling, is the fact that you have to pop the top off first because you can get to the one you one (assuming the top one isn't the one you want). I also agree that the overall economy is a bit off, not getting enough money with drops any everything. I'd hate to get 6 powers deep and then realize the 3 one is wrong. Then have to respec the first 2 before I can even get to the one I want.
Why not continue with the current system pricing system (minus the high overall cost) and alter it so you can choose which power you want to respec rather than have to go through the entire stack.
altho i hope this game succeeds for the sake of non-fantasy mmos getting a significant marketshare, these major changes right after launch only spell disaster.. it just implies that this game is not the product anyone wants and that its not ready for commercial launch..
This does not spell disaster, as there are many aspects of the game that are solid and great. The economy not quite ready yet does not matter as much. You can still play and do well without it atm. Respeccing shouldn't have to be done all too much. It only should be necessary when, after you've given it a fair amount of thought, you realize after using the power in the field that it doesn't work with the other powers. One thing that might help with this is implementing a more robust powerhouse that has an array of more intensive situations for testing of powers. Btw, I do love the idea of the Powerhouse it helps with decising making a whole bunch.
I find the game a lot more interesting. The regen power and the PFF are not OP now. It's a bit more challenging and I like it. The game was far too easy before. Now, at least its a challenge.

I find the game un-playable and not fun, our definitions of fun are obviously two different things. Opinions are like... (Fill in the blank).
True, definitions can be many times very different.
For the first hour I was overall disappointed. Not sure why, maybe because had to upgrade graphics card driver as client was complaining with old, maybe I was comparing to other games, .... not know. Maybe - really strange for cartoony kind of game :-) - was too cartoony. :-)
But what I know is that after that first hour .... hour after hour, even minute after minute .... game was getting more and more addictive. After Wow this is funniest game ever for me. Ok, I love also AoC, War, ... Lotro, .... But this one is really fun. I could spend hour or two only custimizing every single detail. You can make different every single limb.
Also being not so young .... and played a lot ... this one is the smoothest start of any MMORPG so far! Online download was fluid. Installation fast and fluid. Patches fast and fluid. Client startup is fast and fluid. Login, logout ... same.
I have however two main complains: waiting times for GM support are disastrous (even taking in account game is running only for days) and prices for respec are equaly disastrous. Part of fun is also to try different build, maybe different flight form .... But if one want simply to try diffrent flight form and that was i.e. 5 levels before ... could get enough money only grinding for months ....

Interesting Fact - I own 27 Tarantula's
Much better and they rolled back the passive nerfs so life is good
