Normal Difficulty Missions Now Soloable?

Does the new difficulty scaling make it so that solo players can handle normal missions, or are they required to find a group or hirelings to handle them?

I would think that would depend on a number of factors.

Some people have been soloing many instances long before this change. Are you going to be able to solo to level cap? If you could not solo well in the past I doubt this will make it that easy, and honestly I hope it does not make soloing to cap possible.

Before scaling most of DDOs non raids(and a few of them) were 2 man doable even on hard setting.

I played DDO in April but quit because soloing as a Monk was no longer an option (at least without repeating the same quests over and over). I basically want to solo as much as posible but group when it is possible. I made it to like 3? in April but there were no groups around my level doing things so I quit. Is soloing better now, and better yet is it much easier to find a group at low levels? Thanks.

It is indeed easier to solo normal quests now but not all of them from my experience, usually you can solve this by getting a cleric hireling to heal you, but many quests will need a group if you dont have good gear and know the quest.

They opened up a new server called Cannith where everyone start at lvl 1 so there is alot of low level grouping going on now and when they open up for the Free players it will be even more.

My new character is a Human Barbarian if that helps. I am part of the head start program, so I can play right now. Is the new server, Cannith, very populated in comparison to other servers? My new character is on Khyber because I believe that used to be the most popular server. Does Cannith beat Khyber population wise right now during the head start?

I dont know what Khyber is like but since Cannith is new and almost only old players can play now its not that populated yet. But  everyone there is low level there seems to be easy to get groups. Also nice to not play with alot of veterans with twinked alts, so there is not much rushing going on.

It will be interesting to see how Cannith develops when more people joins the server, seems to be alot of Europeans joining.

Cannith is new and for *new* players, not old. A typo? : )

That's why there's absolutely a legion of players on Korthos, first public instance. Well, multiple instances of it most of the time.

Really strange when you look at "WHO" panel. Highest level player yesterday was level 4, multiclassed - 3 classes of something and one of something.

Great to be there. No problems to find a group at all, constant guild recruitments, etc. I've seen one player asking for an RPG guild, and he got an invite in seconds.

People from all the world recruit for their guilds. I've even seen a latino guild looking for members and getting them.

Whan else? New, clear economy. I wonder what Auction House prices will be. No character transfers are allowed to Cannith, so everybody is forced to start anew, even vets.

Great fun to date. General response in game? Well, overwhelmingly good and positive. Absolute revival of the game, but it's only 2 days after headstart, so we'll see.

Another VERY smart thing is that when the game will officially launch, it probably won't have any issues! Why? Becasue it's already running and working.

So we'll probably see the smoothest launch (a relaunch) of an MMO in history .

Very well thought out move Turibne, can't say much else than congrats. This game really bursts with life even now, one can only try to imagine what will happen on 9th .

A lot of people are going to Cannith, reserving names and guild names and then returning toir un the high level content thay have waited nearly a year for. I would not be surprised to see Cannith highly populated with F2P as its a blank slate server and have a good number of vets over there regularly. Once people run the new stuff into the ground even more vets are likely to visit Cannith.

Sarr this does not count as the smoothest launch in history. A game gets one launch. TO date it may be the smoothest adding of a server for a relaunch, but its simply not a launch. DDO had that 3.5 years ago.

Ton of people in Cannith in the starter area when I was logged in just now. Can't believe it, reminds me of how it was when I beta tested it years ago.

Oh yes i meant that Cannith is for new players but so far most new people cant join the server untill 9th so the population will probably become much bigger then while the old players play on the old servers.

But there is already tons of people on Cannith and I have been having alot of fun running groups the last couple of evenings :)

In the past the main reason why the content was not solable was due to having multiple leavers that players needed to access at the same time.  Hirlings helped resolve a lot of this as you can have them stand at locations and command them to interact with levers when needed.

I've been playing for the last 2 years and people haev also been soloing content.  Its just that some content is pretty dmaned hard to do it without help.

Honestly, other then Raids I don't think I've ever felt "required to find a group".

Truth is, you might suck.  You could be a terrible player who has a hard time doing more then one thing at a time.  I'm not saying you are, just trying to put it into perspective that not everyone is going to able to solo all the content. I know I can't do everything.  ;)

why are you afraid to group with someone in an MMORPG?

Rok is simply pointing out a factual error made by Sarrs.  This is not a "smoothest launch of an MMO in history" but in fact just an update and/or the addition of a new server.  DDO in fact did launch 3.5 years ago.

hell - for how often Rok is mistaken at least give him some credit when he's spot on.  ;)

There's no factual error mate, though I was sure it will be brought in by some friendly individual, so I wrote:

    ""launch (a relaunch)"

I guess it wasn't accented enough . Ah, well.

But anyway, what does matter for new players isn't whether it's launch or relaunch. It's how it is going run when they finally log in, will there be game breaking bugs, much waiting, server crashes, etc. or not.

Here's a big chance we won't have such issues this time. Still anything can happen, but well, game is pretty stable and works blazing fast now. On Cannith it seems this game never responded so quick. That's good, now lets see if that's just about server population or is it new general performance.

Having a different opinion  does not actually make me mistaken at all. The inability to understand that is a huge problem here with some people.

I have a WF monk and managed to solo a lot of the content up to Elite level (GH and below) and some of the Vale on Normal. It isn't quick or pretty at times, but doable. Happy to help if you can be more specific about where you hit a barrier.
