All i have to say to the nerd rage quitters and rerollers ... hahhaha! I'll be enjoying the game with my slightly gimped char nd when the free retcon hits baboom.

Is that really proving something to them? Is it really?

In a way, yes. Many people were shouting "give me a respec RIGHT NOW or I quit". If they already did quit, then it just proves they were being impatient.
On the other hand it may just prove that if you cry enough you'll get what you want.

Well, we all kind of knew that Cryptic would fix it somehow. When theres a stir they always try to make up for it eventually. As for the quitters and those trying to get their money back, I think if the game really meant that much to them, they wouldn't be making as much of a fuss. I don't really think saying "Just wait until ..." is really going to make them feel bad in any way.

Nope it won't, they will still troll the boards. Best thing to do is to put them on ignore and not recognize them.
Anyone trying to say Cryptic should not have had the retcon in place before they even patched is fooling themselves or just being genuinely dishonest.
They nerfed ALOT of things HARD. Sweeping changes on easily half the powers in the game. Adjustment from any where between 20% and 60%. Many powers had significant cooldowns added. A few things were even buffed, a very very few things such as as hold durations.
Even more there is almost certainly going to be another round of butchery as there are still a number of powers that are overpowered (if we take this round of nerfs as the standard of overpoweredness). Anyone who pays attention already has a short list of powers that will get hit and most of those people know that when the nerf bat does hit, it won't be "balanced" it will just neuter them. Many of the min/maxers are already telling peopel to shut the hell up about the still existing powers. They have seen enough nerfs and Cryptic has a history of severe nerfs and just did one of the huigest nerfs I have ever seen on the day of release no less. They basically completely invalidated any balancing they did during beta, and they did it on release day. It insanity.
Anyone who think you can just let things hang around in this kind of state is simply living in La La Land. Doing something this drastic without a respec already in place is stupid. But then again it was insane to begin with.
I disagree that waiting until a respec was given would have helped...
Bottom line is that only prestart players were affected by this nerf since it rolled out with the launch. IF you are going to roll out a huge change, then it is smart to do it before people have chosen any of the skills. They didn't have the code in the game to allow a respec right away, but if they would have waited 3 days, then many more builds would have been affected.
Now that being said, they should have promised a respec at a later date before inserting the changes. I feel the open ended nerf-and-run was a low blow to the people who pre-ordered the game and thought they had just wasted their time.
I think the balances were in order, I had tested all of the defensive powers, and I know what they were capable of doing. I min/max'd a guy, then dueled my friend and went afk for 15 mins and survived, then 2 shot him when I returned with drink in hand. There will be more balances, and they will continue to disrupt peoples' gameplay, but as long as they do it in a straighforward way, and in the interest of making a better game in the following months, then I'm ok with that.
