DDO:U for a possible returning player

Good Morning,

I'm wondering if anyone here could possibly answer a question or three. . . I got this in my email today.

DDO Unlimited will open to everyone on September 9th - but since you're a former DDO player, we want to give you a head start! Experience the new free to play DDO without subscribing! You can use your existing DDO login information to get into the game. You don't need to do anything else, just show up and play.

I was a subscriber back when it was first released, but dropped the game because of it's virtually nil support for solo play, as well as my poor experiences with tech support.

1> Anyways I downloaded the game again tonight and when i tried entering it, it said I need an active subscription. Are other returning players getting the same thing? I'm not seeing anything on the DDO forums about it, and looking over the FAQ (which is still geared towards a subscription, as opposed to free to play) it says I only need to reactivate it. Easy enough, but I only see LOTRO under my account on Turbine.

2> Does the game still have nil support for solo play? Is a microphone as necessary as it was when I first played the game?

3> Does the game actually run on home networks in which a "server" is present now? According to tech support back then, I'd have to turn off my "server" in order to use my microphone (something that was required for team play) on my game system, not something I was willing to do.

Thanx,

Jim

You should be able to log in with your old account. Maybe you have a seperate account for when you played DDO cause it should show up next to your LotrO sub. Maybe customer support can locate your account.
Here is a FAQ for returing players

There is now some solo quests at lower levels. They have also added hirelings which can repalce group members. Also inn DDO:Unlimited they have added  "Diffilculty scaling" which means that the quests difficulty scale down depending on how many people are in the quest, so soloing normal quests aremuch easier now. But its still a group heavy game but much more solo friendly.

I dont know about networks but I have played the game without mic so far and alot of people I group with dont use it either. But I have seen LFMs which require microphone but not very common.
    Thanx,
    Jim

I hope it works out for you!

    If WoW = The Beatles
    and WAR = Led Zeppelin
    Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

Log into your account and make sure your DDO subscription is shown. Should be a green bar across the top of the DDO subscription that says "Premium". Is it possible you have separate accounts for LOTRO and DDO?
