I've had this happen with some other games. You may want to either Update your graphics drivers or update your Graphics card. 7300 isnt top of the line...thats actually pretty old and so is a pentium core. Update your drivers and see where that gets you.

MMO's are the ark of the gaming world. Let it take us in new directions.

Easy to find a scape goat that have bad track record, but it won't solve any problems and only spread more false rumors.

There are many many people who have complained about the issue of Gameguard. You are simply one of those people who figure 'It works for me, so it should work for everyone.'

So if the OPs problem was clearly the version of DX...then why when he downgraded to XP, that runs DX 9, did he still have the same issue?

Nobody is spreading false rumors....Gameguard causes issues in alot of PCs....Just google it sometime, or look at any forum of a game that uses GG, and you will see people with the same issues. I can run ANY mmo on the market, except for games with GAMEGUARD. Please explain that.

First of all, the fact that Vista supports dx10 does not mean it'll use it (or try to) on a card that does not support it! It also does not mean it'll use DX10 when a game uses an older version of DirectX. DirectX has always been downwards compatible therefor having the lastest version will not affect games using a lower version.

(Yes that means OP reverted back to winXP for no good reason at all!)

Secondly, Aion runs smoothly on Vista with only 2 gigs of RAM so no problems there either besides windows doesn't generally blue screen when it's low on memory it just slows down or even "hangs" it does not, I repeat not, crash. I fact I've run Vista for over 2 years now and I've yet to see a blue screen (knocks on wood).

Thirdly, just because your graphics card can't cope doesn't mean you will crash, in fact you probably won't unless it's overheating in which case either your fan's not working properly or the airflow in your case is lousy (or you're living in the desert :P)

Blue screens ladies and gentle people are caused by a lot of things none of which were mentioned in this thread (with the possible exception of game guard but I haven't got enough experience with that yet to be sure) to determine what causes the crashes the OP is experiencing we do not have enough information as troubleshooting blue screens is usually a process of elimination.

I would advise a clean install of what ever OS you prefer using the latest drivers for all your hardware and try again. If the problem persists try running memtest overnight if it returns any problems you have faulty memory and should replace the module.

If that doesn't solve it you could try to remove some of your hardware (soundcards can be a pain (creative drivers suck)) be sure to take things one step at a time and test thoroughly after each step.

What is your hardware setup? config? and also operating system and which dx are you running.  If you are running AV and firewall and other software that conflict with GG did you set them into exceptions? Did you patch GG, did you patch Aion to 1.5.0.3 after they patched the server 2 days ago?

Seriously, if this is based on lack of knowledge, I am going to seriously consider stop playing this genre since some people just blame anything they "feel" is the problem.

Then you should quit this genre cause you obviously don't realize when there is an issue with a program. Marsin is running with upto date drivers, XP sp3 and no virus/firewall and still crashes on GG loadup.

I run on Vista SP2(have tried with XP as well), 4 gigs, Gforce 8800 GTS,DX 10 all drivers are up to date. Second PC is XP SP2, 3 gigs, NVidia card (forget what one) DX 9 and all up to date. GG still crashes for me on that one too.

I can play AoC, Vanguard, SWG, Warhammer and all the MMOs on full settings with no issues and even single player games on full as well. So I know graphically my PC can handle it. Yet Aion, Spellborn or anything by Acclaim for that matter I cannot run. Or I can run for about 15 mins before crashes.

So two different systems, in the same house, on the same net connection. Maybe it's just the way my house is designed that causes the constant crashes with GG?  Or I bet it is my ISP doesn't like me playing Gameguard games so they make my net crash and it causes my PC to crash. But the most logical explanation is that my desk chair is worn out and my PC thinks it is better for me to get up every 15 minutes to streach...so it crashes itself.

Linren, if GG doesn't cause a problem for you or your PC then that is just fine. Good for you. But don't sit here on your high horse and try and insult everybody else that does have an issue with GG. Just google it or look up on any forum with GG and you will see issues. You think that thousands of us gamers got together one day and decided to debunk GG?
