No Content, No Fun

they ruined the game after 2 days cuz there is no content, they had to increase difficulty to slow down players from obtaining level 40 in 3 days.. so the game is simply boring now.. save your cash.. its really rocky unfinished game anyhow,

This game not tested well, so everyday is a new tweak and those tweaks cause even more unbalances in powers etc..

Because it's so slow o fight packs of enemies now, its very boring, hard to stay logegd in an hour.. cuz its like getting nowhere and not enjoying killing as you don't feel like a champion. the mobs are actually tougher than you.. it should be called Wussy Online

    Yeah, they took all of the lack of challenge out of the game. You actually have to think a little before tackling 6 mobs.

    Hmm I still have no issue killing stuff...  You just need to learn to use your blocks, get a hold ability and some AE and a good direct damage attack.  It can be a bit dicy sometimes if you get two groups of if the mobs are a mix of melee and ranged types but I doubt I've died 5 times since I started my character and he is lvl 23 now...

    My new lvl 9 guy has never died and probably never will :P

    Course I never used some of the uber defense abilities people are screaming about so it never made any real difference to me.  I do know that regen was really overpowered.  In open beta I took it on my lvl 40 and with my shield up and with a bunch of mobs trying to kill me I could actually heal up :P  Multiple supervillians not a problem :P  Seriously regen was pretty rediculous.  I didn't even consider taking it when I made my new characters knowing full well it would be nerfed and it made the game completely risk free unless maybe you went afk after pulling a bunch of mobs...

    I approve of all the patches personally.  What I don't approve of is being forced to take teleportation to win in PvP

    I have noticed mobs are much tougher, but if you play it smart, you'll be fine. I've only ever been nearly killed once, and that was from me teleporting right into the middle of 6 mobs + a villain.

    I don't find it that much harder, henchmen are still a breeze, villians a little harder. I die sometimes, but really so what? Not much of a death penalty.

    And teleport is such a crappy travel power, it sucks even more that it rules in PvP.

    People please read the point, not your perception of what you think the op is saying, comprehension on forums is critical, specially since most of your replies are meaningless babble only to ofend the OP..

    I never said it was too dificult, i said it made the game BORING when they raised the difficulty... it made you feel weak... not like a champion, you had to sit there and shoot those mini mobs over and over.. and not everyone is a pure DPS, i am somewhat defensive, yes i know my builds and can switch thru guardian, protector, avenger, sentinel... im not a mindless nub..

    The raised the difficulty which makes fighting meaningless mob packs take way to long and it becomes utterly boring fighting thru them where it use to be fun to slap em around... It also unbalances many powers,

     

    For example, if you are taking 33% more damage because fights are longer and their superpowerss are more often, and your heal was set for the easier  and not upscaled for the increase damage, your character is now unbalanced.. Yes, i can toss on a shield and all that, and it drags the fights out even longer and even MORE boring..

    I can smoke a whole friggan cigarette after every jump with my toon  as im trying to find that dam quest item. It's not fun and thats my point.

    I can understand this especially since mobs are so close together...   having to fight mob after mob gets boring on its own.. even when I was downing them left and right in CB.... I could only imagine actually having to spend an extra minute or two on each mob..... ... one thing for sure would be that it would promotes grouping,  but I can see how it could be discouraging to others in the population.  You're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't...... so is the way of the nerf.

    The problem is the OP played the beta pre-nerf and got accustomed to killing mobs at a certain rate.  Post nerf it takes considerably longer, and many players won't tolerate a negative change like this.

    I recall TR doing the same thing, and many beta players ended up not sticking with it once it went live because they did the same thing.

    Had the OP never experienced faster mob killing it probably wouldn't seem so bad now, which is one reason why I don't really play betas anymore.

    Actually even on the "easy" CB builds .. after level 25... things started upping in difficulty quite a bit.  Its just you had more missions requiring groups and crisis zones and cosmic bosses made for some interesting times.  I would've much rather them give more missions where PvE was tougher on certain legendary and cosmic missions rather then them try to rebalance the whole flawed system. Thats just me though......

    I agree, in my opinion this is all Bill Roper's fault.  I don't understand why he gets a second chance after the debacle that was Hellgate?  Roper should be blackballed from the game developing community.

    I doubt many people play a superhero game for challenge. They play to feel 'super'.

    I think it's wiser to reduce xp for killing mobs, than to slow the kill rate.

    It wouldn't be a problem at all, if these games released with good end games.

    Actually prefer the change in difficulty, it actually requires some effort now.

    It's posts like these that make me really wonder about people.

    Are we playing the same game?

    I'm level 30 now.  Most of my fights are over in 5 to 15 seconds.  There is nothing slow or boring about it.

    Oh, I haven't had to grind any part of my 1 to 30 leveling yet.  I'm not optimistic that this will hold true for the rest of my leveling, but so far, I've had plenty of content.

    It wouldn't be a problem at all, if these games released with good end games.

    To me, the game would become boring if I could smash everything in sight without breaking a sweat. There would be no challenge. No thought needed. Just push this sequence of buttons for every single fight (which is how a lot of MMOs work anyway unfortunately). The only challenge would be from high-end raids and PvP. The rest of the game would become a ghost town. In effect you'd be killing off the journey and making the destination the whole point of the game. No thanks.

    I think the idea of reducing XP from mobs vs nerfing the kill rate is a slightly better option than blasting everything down with my pinky. Still, the challenge wouldn't be there with the current number of mobs in the game. To make it any kind of challenge, they'd need to bump the number of mobs. That'd increase the load on a lot of computers though, not to mention their servers.

    Not really.  With the right build its just as easy if not even more easy.  They extended hold duration when they nerfed everything to hell.

     

    Game is not really anymore challenging with the right build.  You just have less options now.   I can solo group content spawns that have "tough" mobs in them pretty easily.

    So share with us your "Right build".

     

    I have a primarily Lightning based nuker, who focuses on Recovery and End and has PPF slotted. I was cutting through the world like a knife through butter and now it is a little more difficult.  I am willing to try something more of a hybrid that is more soloable.

     Honestly, 

    The first time I lveled a character in wow (classic before any expansion) it took me 4-5 month of casual gaming. In CoH was 7 months of casual gaming. In this one, I am already 30 and I playing alts waiting for some friends. 

    My main character is what you could say is an easy build, no problem after the nerf. I have 2 alts around 14 that are doing k, with the exception of some group quests (SURPRISE, sometimes you need groups to do group quests). One of them is dps y the other is going to be mainly support healing/buff/fear. I am expecting having more trouble with this one since I am not getting any defensive passive, but in every mmo the support chars has problems in leveling so it shouldn't be surprised. 

     

    If you want to burn content like crazy, no game is going to be able to give you that, only WoW, and that is mainly because the main time sinks that are usually either difficulty (raids) or complex(events, rare drops).

    In superhero games it is important to enjoy the leveling. I am having a blast everytime I have to deal with my nemesis. 

     

    If you were looking for Wow in spandex, I think you got it wrong.

    Agreed. I've been thoroughly enjoying the content and the vast power selection. Solo play is certainly fun, but just like City of Heroes, the real joy starts when you begin to mix up all those power builds with a group of players and start facing some bigger mobs.

    This isn't you're grandmother's MMO. It's something (relatively) new and different. Maybe it's not for everybody, but I've joined an active Super Group (guild) and I'm having a blast.

    At about lvl20 I hit a brick wall, they started grouping to villains together or master villains and a villain it's just to much for my character.

    I am a huge X-men (comic book, not film) fan. And I grew up on superhero stuff. I really want an engaging superhero mmo. I have had fun with COH but I felt the world was empty.

    I was travelling and only had a few hours to play in Open Beta before going offline. But I felt no vibe there.

    While COH could release with no pvp / villains at the time it came out, I don't think CO can do it in 2009. I expect more. I don't want to wait a year or two to MAYBE see a Villains edition and get real pvp. That is why I can't stomach the thought of buying it.

    Almost every day the last month I have had the urge to break out the credit card and buy it due to customization and the superhero stuff or even to have gotten the lifetime sub, but the game will fail me I am sure.

    I can't play a game with no real pvp anymore.

    Yeah, I can imagine super hero games today if all of the super heroes felt "super" and no difficulty was present in the game.  Oh right, super hero games probably wouldn't even exist. I'd go buy child-friendly Disney or Pixar movie-based games if I really wanted to sacrifice my experience in a video game to "feel"  super.
