Where are all the conspiracy theorists? Why has this not been pointed out yet?
It is simple, Cryptic needed a way to get back the extra 6-month and lifetime subscriptions they sold after the original "limited supply" was exhausted. What better way than to change the game without testing and have a few technical difficulties due to new employees at launch?

not a conspiracy, probably just a scam, this game is probably free 2 play in 6 months with cstore purchases.. have fun with your action figures following you around.. which will be dropped a month later... Hope they are worth it to you

A Conspiracy... Deep in the dark recesses of your mind, Bill Roper did appear and declare to his minions this directive
"Mwuhahahahah...pretend to have an outage and then nerf the game on day one! Dashing young Taintedeye's hopes!" then he rubbed his hands together in a most evil fashion and created the cure for cancer, only to set it on fire lest anyone find out it exists!!!
OR......
They simply balanced the game, implemented a day one patch to adjust some clearly overbalanced powers, and try to make the most stable game they can while trying to keep us in the loop/do damage control in order to make the most money they can from producing a quality game. A game with a few hiccups of this magnitude is not surprising.
But yes, yes..your idea sounds more probable, they simply wanted to change the game with no testing at all in order to steal your money because the company is run by gypsy/carnies who exist solely in your mind....
