not saying anything good or bad, but this is the number to expect according to a member of the cryptic studio team.
"4 or fewer henchmen, a henchman and a villain, a master-villain, are all fights a player should usually win unless they get unlucky, assuming they play well (handling schtick attacks is the main thing).
Larger pulls are going to be harderr to overcome.
Obviously build matters as does playstyle."

That sounds about right. With a supervillian the fight it challenging and you do need to block and if there are any adds it is progressively harder. Using your AEs while actively blocking the supervillian is key then burning the supervillian and perhaps using a healing pot.
The only fights I really have trouble with are the tough henchmen. I did an even level instance and got a pull with like 3 tough henchmen and a villian. That fight killed me the henchmen just hit too hard and fast for me to build up power to work my magic... The next power I'm getting is one that will give me a burst of energy which should make this better as I'll be able to hit them hard right at the start.

That's about what I can handle with a dual-swords toon. Sometimes I can handle 5 or 6 if the henchmen aren't ubermensch and I spam Blade Storm (or whatever it's called).
That said, some of the master-villains are quite tough. I've had my ass kicked by a master-villain only 1 level higher than me. I was swinging away and hardly any damage occurred. I had to look down at my keyboard to make sure I had been pushing the right keys! I was, but he handed me my ass anyway.
I like the challenge level where it is now. OB levelling was fun, but I would've already been bored of CO if they would've left it there.

I think this is what I wanted in the game in the first place.
Instead of all powers being basically the same just looking different, I think I prefer this. You described AOE heavy powers like dual swords or lightning that can clear a room of henchmen. You described Single one-shot killers who can't handle large mobs.
That to me is brilliance.
Now you can go mix and match or specialize to your hearts content!
