Maybe they are going to announce on the 8th or 9th of Nov. that the game is going to be released LATER than they previously thought to give them time to correct the problems? If so, that would be MUCH more incouraging after reading many of these comments.

The only good news since I saw the screenshots and heard EQII was looking good in pre-release reviews and pre-ordered a Limited Edition version of the game back in April is the recent news about character development.

I read on the official site that Dwarves were 4' tall. I would prefer they were taller than in the original EQ, more like Tolkien's Dwarves, so this pleased me. I have seen only 1 screenshot with Dwarves and Humans, and that Dwarf was less than half the height of the Humans, and certainly the very disappointing Character Creation Pack indicates they are only half the height. I guess Humans are 8' tall in EQII, heh.

I tried Horizons a few months ago, the character tattoos looked very similar and overall the EQII pack wasn't as good; I didn't really like the Horizons' character creation either. The EQII Trades skill thing sounds very similar to that in Horizons too (I am not in the EQII Beta yet). That was pretty good in Horizons. Horizons was not a very good game in my opinion, it started out dull and the graphics were not even up to the first EQ in many ways (you could disappear your entire Dragon character in boulders and such!).

I certainly hope there are no more similarities in these games! I haven't paid much attention to SOE since the old days of the original EQ - they haven't hired a bunch of former Atari Horizons team people have they? heh.

If they release this game with bad lag problems and other serious problems I swear I will demand my money back and stop buying Sony products entirely! (currently I buy Sony video electronics in preference to other brands.) I will complain to everyone I can think of! I was playing the original EQ when they released the first expansion pack and the game became unplayably laggy (I told them so, it had already become too laggy so I told them they needed to fix that first but did they listen to me? of course not, I was just a customer!) I quit EQ then, a lot of people did. When I heard they reworked the team I tried it again about a year later and it was good, but I had deleted all my original characters and wasn't having fun with new ones so I just stuck with Asheron's Call. Course I had DSL then, too.

So I will feel screwed twice by SOE if EQII is unplayable when released. Sure it may have a few (VERY few!) problems, and there may be longer term problems that will require reworking, but I expect a very playable very original game that looks as good or better than the screenshots and movies. And if my AMD 64 3400+ based computer with ATI's Radeon 9800 XT and DSL @ 1.5M won't run this game well, nothing will!

Oh, and I haven't given WoW a thought, I could care less which one is released first! But I sure will switch if EQII disappoints!

Let's not put up with less than the best they have been promising!!

Well a post by John Smedley in the EQ2 beta forums stated the launch date will be released tomorrow and also addressed the lag and other bug issues.
