Does anyone think NC Soft will axe Aion like they did Auto Assault and Tabula Rasa?
I really cant believe that you are 34 years of age.
You seem upset.. actually I think its a perfectly reasonable thing to ask.... but I dont think its possible to answer the question as it has been phrased anyway.

Yeah it's perfectly reasonable to ask, and its also perfectly reasonable to point out how bad Auto Assault and Tabula Rasa were and how Aion is far.....very.... lightyears far away from being that bad. The current "problems" in Aion don't even compare remotely to what those other 2 games were. At least IMO.

I guess asking if they would axe their biggest current revenue earner would seem reasonable. Good business move right there
I sometimes wonder if some people on this forum actually think before they post.
Aion v3 "RELOADED" - A glimpse into the future of the MMO genre
Can't we just give the game some time people? Practically every MMO has its flaws at release. Its this kinda of negativity that can ruin a game, just give it some time and let things be worked about before worrying to much about the future.
How do you axe a game that is a success in the Eastern Market?
I mean even if lets consider the absolute worse case scenario of Western Market cannot appreciate Aion as a game a all, millions of people will still be playing on the Eastern Servers (mainly Asians and people who play on Asian servers already). All Aion has to do is maintain a good amount of stable players, and the game is here to stay in the Western Market.
I'll personally be playing Aion, and I know alot of my friends who love MMORPG for the game itself and not all the BS gaming politics alot of players pretend to exist will be playing with me.

You'll find that many Americans are very much under the impression that anything that occurs outside the US borders is irrelevant and has absolutely no bearing on reality.

this forum has gone to hell, Aion is already a success in asia so i doubt they will close it down. I almost think that mmo fans want new mmo's to fail so that their mmo will continue to prosper
I remember when a mass exodus of players left FFXI and went to WoW.
I hated WoW so much for that, and I always wanted it to fail, just so ffxi would "prosper"... lol the irony I get from that.

I don't think most Americans realize how many Asians make up the total population for the Eastern Hemisphere.
I can sleep better at night knowing Aion is backed up by a "potential" pool of: BILLION people in China, Hundreds of millions in Korea, Japan, Philippines, Taiwan, Oceana too... etc...
thats a fuckton of people, and if Aion has already been sucessful in Asia for a year,..... I won't have to worry about wasting another $60 on a WAR deja vu. gg
no i dont ever seeing it being axed. it will fill a hole in the mmo market and do enough to make a profit for Ncsoft. i dont think it will ever be massive in the west tho. but i hope it can do well
I think its a fair question. I have blown money on Tabula rasa, Fury, Hellgate london, I never played autto assault or what ever that car game was but someone blew money on it. High hopes for matrix online and was let down, AoC was let down again the only game that is holding me down now a days is city of heroes. I would mention another game but I will stay from that one. I have played some aion and I really hope it can stick around to enjoy. APB woot.

But, you must understand that makes an unfair* assumption that the posters of this forum are *actually playing an MMO*.
I am convinced, convinced, by the post counts and inescapable presence of some of the users (e.g., these people post a lot, throughout the entire site, not just on one game's area) that a large number of people here who talk the talk and whine the whine are not actually playing anything BUT the mmorpg.com forum.
And to take it further, I think there's a clear first generation of those users whose posts indicate that they did have some substantial, in some cases monumental, experience in MMOs through the years. However there are second and third generations whose posts are devoid of content that makes me believe they've actually spent more than 10 levels in a game, any game, but they're parroting what the tremendous group of jaded vets have been saying.
edit: *sarcasm on this 'unfair' because in truth, one would think it is a perfectly valid assumption

Off topic a little, but people only left FFXI for WoW because of rampant gil selling. The economy was totally ruined on every server, that's the reason everyone i played with, myself, and everyone i talked to left FFXI. When they started clamping down on gil sellers and released the Aht Urhgan expansion the game was back on track, I resubbed and never stopped playing again.
As for Aion, the comment about American's thinking they are the centre of the MMO universe seems to be true. Just because Auto Assault and Tabula Rasa weren't a success, does not mean Aion won't be. I for one would not rule out one of, if not the biggest, MMO provider in Asia, and perhaps the world (<-- uninformed opinion if i'm wrong i'm sorry). Even if Aion is not a stunning success in the western market it's already their flagship game in Asian markets and the biggest money turner for them.

Heh, I was on ps2, so even if I wanted to move to WoW I couldn't, (which I didn't want to) but I was pretty butthurt over it nonetheless. I hope NC puts the clamp on bots/goldsellers. I'm kinda paranoid about this, because of all the horror stories I've heard from previous Korean games, and playing through the shitty AH ecnonomy of ffxi. I know this has potential to totally screw the game over.
Considering the success Aion has had in Asia. Considering it has won a number of awards for "best mmo game". Considering it has broken all mmo preorder records for 2009, I just don't see the game ending any time soon. If anything, I see more expansions
Considering all the games they axed arent NCSoft made games but published by NCSoft i dont see Aion going anywhere
All NCSoft made games are still going strong even Lineage after 10 years
As the publisher ncsoft i dont see anything wrong with it either, atleast they give companies the change and the fund to try something out of the box. dusnt always work but atleast they tried.

actually yeah that's the whole reason I left FFXI my server was completely dominated by gil sellers. I know it got better after I left and they cracked down on them but the damage was done at that point I swore i would never go back to that game.

Considering guild Wars 2 is coming in the future, I think they will axe Aion... but just because I think it will not make it so.
Wow...now we can't even see how a game releases before we start debating when it will get axed?
well it only has 3.5 mill subs in Asia, you figure it out ....

if its a lost cause like some otherof their published game were of corse they re not a charity house
but i dont see aion going down the drain till cataclysm
and even then they might steal the spotlight from wow
their game has a good way if they just organise stuff in the game where friends can hang out like they often do in wow
i wouldnt be surprised to see wow player base take dive
but one thing player wont do ,
ITS CHANGE A DOLLARS FOR 4 QUARTER
and i feel the same.
