I am sorry. I re-read my post from last night, and it was just rude.

I didn't mean for any of it to come out sounding that nasty. I am really sorry.

Fanbois might want to string us up and set us afire but they are welps that also would pay SWG year after year thinking well golly it's BOUND to get better.
Blizzard if no other reason than NOT being honest deserves to lose ALOT of accounts.
    Period.
They are a buisness. They are out to make money. They just shot themselves in the foot. They keep this up they WILL loose alot of customers. They best give thanks to Cay for her continued efforts at informing us. Only PR worth spit right now in their offices.

Moron, get a life and a clue. You're acting like Blizzard officially stated when OB was going to start. They didn't. They simply posted a generic announcement in response to a magazine ad.

    Or we could post constructively...

Why was it the Blizzard rep said Open Beta wasn't ready? Something to do with the server maintenence or something, right? Well, maybe they are trying to configure their servers to allow such massive amounts of people to play on them.

Remember, they have to run the Open and the Closed betas. I am almost sure they are doing it on different servers, meaning we won't be playing with the Closed Beta testers. Some what like the Stress Test. We just all have to be patient and take a more realistic outlook on the way games are made.

I mean, have you ever tried to write code for a game? It's hard, confusing and tedious. Usually, there is a lot of back tracking and stuff. Blizzard is just trying to make the game as complete as possible.

I know many of you are confused (or worse) about Tyren's statement and believe it conflicts with my own. Let me assure you that Tyren does not know any better than I do at this time.

The post he made was primarily to quiet down the boards -- they were spammed tremendously when the site went down temporarily. If you were in his shoes, you'd probably do the same. ;) - Caydiem -

God after reading some of that board, and some of what people have said on this board... I sure as hell hope there is a way to ignore everyone in the game but members of your own guild because some of the people who want to play are really damn annoying. I sure as shit HOPE that their mommies and daddies won't pay a monthly fee for them for retail.

Good job blizzard. You have lost 4 customers. Lets see here, 4 collectors edition, 6 months paid on account, us telling others how awesome this game is = a hell lot of money.

Tsk tsk, blizzard is pathetic. Screw them. Here we go Everquest 2.

I'm sure a Chapter 11 announcement will be forthcoming.

In the meantime send us all a postcard from EQ2. You'll have plenty of time between crashes ::::28::

Honestly, until now, I was in love with Blizzard and everything about them.  They always have had excellent customer service, and make the greatest games.  This scheme having them announce OB 'soon' three weeks ago, and now letting it slip that it won't be for awhile (even though I predicted this) has made me lose lots of respect for this company.  It's total disrespect for their customers, like they don't even care for the ones who are most loyal.

What were they thinking when they announced it?  That the people who occasionally go to the site would think "Cool" and check it again weeks down the road when they remember?  Or even, the people who don't really care about the game's release, just that it might be coming sometime soon, so they put it on their Christmas list.  They had to have realized that the majority of the people who would be seeing that announcement are the people who view 'soon' as a week or two, maximum, and won't take it very well when they are being lied too.

Anyone saying "Soon" to Blizzard can be "like 2 months" is still bullshit.  I don't care what time scale they make games on, soon to the public is not over a few weeks.

Why do I think it's disrespect?  Because their toying with us.  Sounds like SOE to me.  Honestly, I can wait till Christmas for the games release.  Even till next year, I really don't care.  Now I'll just play EQ2 until then.  Just the meaning behind their announcement has thrown me off, and I view the company on the same level as SOE now.

Am I still going to buy the game? Of course.  But I sure as hell will never defend Blizzard in any debate ever again.  Their fools.

Think about it, there's a reason they don't know the timeframe yet. They could have very well ran into a major problem. It happens. The best laid plans and all that. It's not like theu're sitting back rubbing they're hands thinking of how to screw us. IN all honesty they probably planned to be in Open Beta by now, but something happened or plans had to change.

  • nitakrnnitakrn Member Posts: 179
Agreed, there's some 3rd party factor in this, for sure.   It's ok, I'll get over it, more guild planning for me, who's in?  nvm. . .rhetorical.

I don't know if it's a server issue, but since they did the day long maintenance, I've been having connectivity issues. Randomly getting dropped from the server, and increased latency. Something that never happened before that. So my take is they have some server architecure problems they want to iron out before they open the floodgates, so to speak.

And with the WoW vs EQ2 thing heating up as the release dates near, I'm sure they'd rather not tip their hand to SOE, thus giving a possible market advantage to them.

But if it's easier to believe that it's a vast conspiracy between Blizzard, and the closed beta testers to keep them playing for free, and to purposely screw you, and keep you out of beta, knock yourself out.

You can pick your tinfoil hats up at the door.

You'll surely be missed , im sure that will make a huge dent in there initial sales ::::20:: Hell without you they might not even be able to run the server fees....oh wait....i forgot about the other 2 million people who will be purchasing the game::::20::

Hey Moron get a clue yourself. There is alot of idiots like you that wants the game and alot more dumber than you IF that is possible that will jump ship for a hell of alot less reason than this. Your concept of 'soon' is about as crappy as Blizzard. Go play EQ2 and get out of people's way.

    Damn, take a buisness class...

Good next time they can take a damn minute and actually say so.... Wasn't for Cay we'd still be scratching our heads. Now Cay's back I am sure she'll keep us up to date LEAST once a week.

Come on people, is not the end of the world. Sure it pains me to read that but it is surelly no reason to flame Tyren that bad. They must have their reasons to do that. I do agree it was rude to say it would be soon and then extend it for so long, but I am sure they are working as hard as they can. After all the more they take to release the game, the less money they will have at the end.

So plz don't flame them that much, they are working to deliver a great game to us, I'm sure that diserves a bit of consideration and patience from our part.

CHrist honestly you people KNEW THE FACTS BEFOREHAND YET CONTINUE TO WHINGE AND MOAN.

YOU ARE AND HAVE BEEN DELUDING YOURSELVES.

Fact 1: Blizzards hand was tipped (card slang), a leak showed that Open Beta would be active by the time a pc magazine was in circulation... so they may as well make it official. They prob wouldn't have announced it so soon.
Fact 2: Soon is relative... there is no exact date. Thinking Soon = exactly 3-7 days is deluding yourself
Fact 3: Awhile = Soon, its the same thing. No new information here. Open beta will begin at SOME point.
Fact 4: Blizzard doesn't care about yours, your mothers, fathers, boyfriends, girlfriends, auntie, dog#s..... rabbits..... parrots............ EMPTY THREATS. Really amuses me when people say "If Open Beta doesn't begin soon i wont buy this game" *random foam-mouthed raving fan".
    1. This is beta testing still, and at the foremost this is always been a priveledge to do, you all expect it like a spoilt child expects 40 presents for xmas.
    2. Technically you only really have any real 'mouth' when you buy this game... then you become a PAYING customer and only then do you get rights to threaten to not pay for next month etc.

I think the majority of people in here whinging and moaning about it not being open-beta but then threatening to leave the game are plain stupid.... Its blatantly obvious your so obsessed with the game, you love it so much that you will complain and check the WoW website daily even perhaps hourly. I doubt somewhat that you wouldn't play this game. If you was really gonna leave for EQ2 you wouldn't need to post useless threads/topics complaining about the open beta etc.

Blizzard has done nothing wrong, a marketting error revealed open beta in the issue of pc gamer, therefore they couldn't deny it so they confirmed that it would be 'soon'.

And if those people are threatening to leave the game/not buy it if they dont get FREE testing time within a week then i say GOOD RIDANCE, DONT LET THE DOOR HIT YOU ON THE WAY OUT. Your not good for the game. Guys think before you make threats, otherwise you just look plain stupid when its obvious theres 0.00001% chance of you actually carrying them out.
