How long before I have to ultimatley say time to upgrade?

I fried my old nvidia geforce 7950 GT and I can't even do school work on my computer anymore hence why I live in the library at college now.

I'm upgrading to http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130435

Simply because A I'm cheap and B I think I can handle most games on high performance with that. Secondly I'm not big on the quality of the game as long as I can play it at a good framerate.  If it looks nice, that's nice, however community and gameplay are more important to me. So I guess this is a two part question:

A: What do you think the lifespan of the new card is for me

B:When will it time to take out a loan and build a new computer?

Post full specs of your computer, and we can get a better idea of the life left in your components.

9800gt is a pretty good card, though it's a few generations old now.

like pyro said, you need to post your system specs... for gaming 2 years and its time for a full upgrade, with a vid or "other" upgrade every year.  That is a decent card and is good to extend the life of an older Dual Core machine (non Pent D).  If y ou are sporting a single core then upgrade in full lol  hardware is CHEAP right now

not saying to buy a $500+ vid card every year, but keeping current with a good 100 - 150 card every year is easy to do.

    just my opinion though
