Even tho WAR's endgame may be a lil borked atm, i still think it has more potential than any game out or coming out atm to bring back their population.
As any vetran knows WAR has had issues since release, but only since Aion has been being beta'd and release announced have people really been SCREAMING /ragequit over some of these issues. Most people have fought thru the "issues" because they actually like WAR and want to see it succeed and there wasnt anything new to play. Now a new game is on the horizon some see it  as " grass may be greener on the other side" type deal.

At least on my server (Dark Crag) now that the tide has turned and order is getting ROLLED daily they are blaming bugs  for their exodus to AION,which is nothing more than an excuse because their EZMODE has been taken away. When Order were winning they never complained about any bugs, exploits, crashes, lag, etc. Now that they are losing BADLY all the excuses come out cuz they really just want to try Aion and cant take losing so they blame some OLD bugs that have been around for there reason for leaving.
Its a rather pathetic sight when one side fights thru population imbalance,op classes, bugs, lag, etc for 8 months while getting their butts kicked, to finally start winning to have the other side start to lose and blame their losing on every fault they can find in WAR instead of just taking it like a man and fighting back------------now its WAR sucks and  has to many bugs thats why were losing so were going to Aion ,when destro fought thru twice as many problems. ORDER ON DC ARE THE WHINIEST SORE LOSERS I HAVE EVER SEEN IN ANY MMO OVER THE PAST 9 YEARS.
C YA WHEN YOU GET BACK FROM AION

Hmmm... I went back to WOW when they merged another open pvp server to DC, so i dont know the situation in DC for now. But I just checked war website after reading your post. Altdawf still Rank5, not same as destro capital city which was around Rank1-2 while i was playing..

Dark Crag is in the crapper now. For whatever reason..... all of Order pretty much left DC. Order will tell you, it because of Aion, or school being back in swing. Which is a load of shit, cause it's also affecting Destro as well. Then Destro will tell you it's because Praag came over to Dark Crag and gave Order a challange. So Order ran with their tail's between their leg's.

Whatever reason... Destro now farm's Order on DC. Destro still has to kill the king though :P

I just like everybody else tried this horrible game when it was first released and it was very popular. Dont make assumptions based on what you think because we all know how that always turns out.

I'm not assuming anything, I am just pointing out the fallacies in your argument and besides don't go around saying the game is horrible as fact, I know plenty of people who dislike WAR but I also know plenty of people who enjoy it immensely so stop being a bloody hypocrite.

This is why a game that was released one year ago for $49.99 is now selling for $9.99.

Because plenty of people are playing it.

    ....

Unless your eyes are no longer working I said I knew plenty of people who are playing it, such as guild members and server regulars so please stop pulling assumptions.

I guess my definition of 'plenty' may differ to yours but if more then 700 or so people playing at peak times on a game like WAR that is plenty considering the population issues it has been facing.

I'd say with only a handful of servers left and still operating in this game, yeah.. your idea of "plenty of people" and Warhammer is completely different than mine.

There were plenty of people on the Titanic who were still enjoying the cruise even AFTER it hit the iceberg, until the captain finally told them to "abandon ship". Up until that notification, the cruise was fantastic except for that one small "bump".

Said by someone who makes their debate points by talking about someone else's eyes with snide remarks, lol. Truly a WAR fan.

Worry about you? Heh, I hope WAR never closes actually, so that small marginalized group of Mythic fanbois with bad taste can stay right where they are in this nice, niche game of under 100k players, so that they don't bring their whines into the new games coming out.

You know the familiar sobs you've made: "Why can't you PvP at Level 1 like in WAR?" "Why can't you have the gritty look of WAR?" "Why doesn't this have a Tome of Knowledge like in WAR"? "Why are their no PQs like in WAR?"

People like you go to other games and all you do in the chat is that, lol. You want all that stuff in the NEW game like WAR, when you could just go play WAR. But since people are leaving it as fast as the sub runs out, you can't stay and really enjoy the zergfests or one sided dominations.

But you may be right. Based on your declaration of love here for WAR and what you've posted about the number of people playing it, I'd swear I thought your name was Delusional instead of Dimensional.

Hahaha, delusional instead of dimensional eh?

    That's pretty original, you're a funny guy!

Do you like branding people to specific groups, because no way am I saying WAR is perfect... it has it's share of problems like other MMOs but considering your negativity towards it you seem like  a person who has nothing good to say about anything.

Besides I have never compared other MMO's to WAR or bash them because they do not have WAR's features maybe some of the 'overzealous' fans (which inhabit every mmo under the sun btw) but they do that because they are looking for an argument.

So are there any other assumptions you're going to make?

I dont think it will kill WAR, but most of the hardcore guilds are playing Aion.  EL AoN provoked HoG so the end game pvp should be fun for what ever NA server you decide to join.

Well war was the biggest let down in mmo history for me, so i doubt Aion could be any worse.

If i see paul barnet doing PR for Aion i will quit.

  • Markus55Markus55 Member Posts: 8

War has jumped, spread it's wings and gone splat into the ground.

Aion has yet to jump yet. It might do the same but it's unfair and pointless to predict whats going to happen. The key is going to be, how quickly they adjust and react to suggestions and trends. War had a great game but they didn't and don't listen to the player base. Only time will tell if Aion will be different.

I really want to go back to war but I can't find a sold good reason to do so. I left early this year and it sounds like it's worse now!

I did play the Aion closed and open beta and I'm going to give it a try for a few months, just like I did war. I had fun playing Aion but only got to level 13 before my video card craped out.

I need a game to pull me away from WoW. But I think thats asking to much.

    No, it isn't.
It's not like wow where you can roll alts out your yeng yang
In order to be one of the top pvpers on a server you are going to have to focus on one class.  Alt's are a no-no if you want  to be the 1% pvper.
How do you determine who the top PvPers are? Abyss Points, which can be earned by killing mobs and questing? That's not PvP.
Now the pve crowd that is coming to aion will roll alts because that is what they do.

Warhammer is PvP-oriented, yet has far more replayability, due to 6 starting areas, 24 classes, and the option to PvP right from the start.

If  War is all that you say it is then why are we having this topic ?  Replayability on dead servers, good luck with that.

As far as pvp in Aion.  Well to each his own I suppose,  I prefer to do all my pvp in a open world pvp+pve at the same time.

Top PVPer in aion is the one with the best K/D ratio at end game.  You are not going to see a PVEer ranked in the top 100 by doing pve content only.

After reading all the posts,it's clear that more than half of the people posting in this thread have never played Aion.Whether some like it or not Aion will hit WAR pretty hard because Aion is doing what WAR was supposed to do in the first place.

WAR will not die but will slowly shrink to Vanguard status with a few thousands faithful followers.

Will Aion succeed?Only time can tell but as for myself I see it as a good game(polished at launch) which has brought back some challenges.NCsoft has added lots and lots of content(mostly PvE) with the latest patch. This game is worthy for what it is nothing more, nothing less.

Last but not least,I will never go back to WAR.

    QFT

The replayability in Aion is the lowest of any MMO that I've played.

You know after trying Aion I realized how good AoC really is. People say it is boring with only one starter area. But honestly I find AoC fun every time and I did Tortage (counting closed and open beta) probably 6-8 times.

I would honestly rather play AoC to level 20 again and again - then play the first 20 levels in any starter area in WoW, WAR or Aion.

The starter areas in WoW are totally a bore-fest.

In Age of Conan you get involved with the world from the beginning. And there really are several ways to level in Tortage.

     ^^ This.

No other MMO can offer that experience from a starting point and totally suck you in and really provide a painless revisitation.

Funcom really did a fine job there.

He probably means the feeling of danger and war in the open world, plus the fortress battles and conquests together with meaning on the pvp. Apart from that a higher variety of endgame both pvp and pve, or pvpve in some cases.

Most fantasy based mmos seam to be suffering at the hands of Aion to some degree . The real impact wont be known for a few months .

I am sorry, I just have to know - exactly what is it you are referring to that Aion is doing that WAR was supposed to do in the first place?

(not saying anything good or bad about either, just curious...)

    Indeed,

Aion put WAR to shame on his own ground, its endgame has more to do with DAoC than WAR will ever be.

Aion is nothing compared to war. Keep in mind that I dont like any of them. But if someone put a gun to my head, and made me choose, then it would be war... no doubt.

Aion has way better pvp than War, more risk, and frankly, have you seen the gfx?  Char customization in War sucks ass, especially the female characters, they all look fugly as shitXD

Got a problem with me? Say it to my face. Oh wait, this is the internet...

You know I use to rag a lot on WAR for how badly Mythic tried to execute RvR and balance out the  game, but at least I enjoyed the classes the art and feel of the game for the time I played.

Aion is like Final Fantasy without a soul....plus lots and lots of grind...>>

hmm, maybe, but i played WAR for a few weeks and was severly dissapointed.  If WAR had decent crafting...i.e. weapon, armorsmithing, cooking and tailoring then it would have been a lot better.  I tried to get into it and into AoC but found the classes not to my liking...and didn't like having to wait till 40 to craft.  and I am not a hardcore crafter.
