With halo 2 jsut weeks away i`m wondering what everyone expects of this game and how many people are as excited about it as i am...........also i`ve heard rumors of RPG type combat system in multi-player

Halo 2 is coming
Half-Life 2 is coming
Both will fight for supremacy in terms of fun, multiplayer and gameplay
It will start the Console/PC World War
Which game is going to take the lead?
We shall see, both games seem good and primising
For me its gotta be Halo 2 as I didnt like First person shooters til I played Halo.
Halo was so addictive.
Now playing: VG (after a long break from MMORPGS)
Played for more than a month: Darkfall online, Vanguard SOH, Everquest, Horizons, WoW, SWG, Everquest II, Eve

Halo 2 and Oddworld are the only games I like for Xbox.. that isn't enough for me to buy one though. :P

Halo 2 is on the X-Box only as they plan it. Thus it blows compared to HL2 which has the beauty of being on the PC. Halo 2 isn't all that special.

I got a few questions about HL2.. I never played HL.. so bear with me
1) What is Half-life: source and that stuff?
2) How does online play work? I hear things like "with steam".. what does that mean? Do I need steam to play online?

To answer:
1) Source is the graphics engine that HL2 and all of the mods are made on. If you see something like Half-Life: Source it means the original HL redone in the Source engine. So far I believe they have HL1 Source, Day of Defeat Source, and Counter-Strike Source of course.
2) Steam is just a 500kb UI program that you launch all of the HL and HL mod games from. You do need it to play the latest versions online, however, it is free and is a short d/l from www.steampowered.com

And the number 1 downloaded mod Counter Strike. When HL2 comes out they have a new one called Counter Strike Source. Half life to was about some kinda moster invading or somthing like that I forget .
Halo 2 is pretty damn good, actually. I was just playing it an hour or so ago.
Forget HL2, Doom3 and FarCry!

BTW, X-Box will have Doom3, Far Cry and Half Life 2.....for those X-box haters out there, if you dont trust me, you can find it yourself.
Anyone who has the choice of getting HL2, Doom3, and Farcry for the PC, will get it for the PC... not Xbox.
All FPSs are better for PC than console IMO.

Yes, graphics are better on PC, but can you play Halo 2? nah, i dont think so

HL2 has better graphics but what about gameplay and fun? Im sure HF2 multiplayer wont be as cool as Halo 2 Online
Half-Life 2 is not only going to have great graphics and an interesting single player, but the modding community for the pc version will be huge. The Counter-Strike Source is out, the Day of Defeat Source is being made, and there are a bunch of other mods that will come out for it.
I think nagunieru said it all. Hell you could make Halo 2 for the PC using the Source engine. You'd of course have to change things so it isn't Halo and you don't get some lawyers knocking your door down.
