I got this game because WAR is on death's door and every one was comming over here.

I played in CB and got a refund their, ( should always go with first impresions.) but siad hey their where alot of things I liked lets try this again.

To the people who say this is a grind, I will say I do not see it, compared to other mmo's I have played where you must grind out  X number of quests and mob's for little to no xp Aion is not bad at all you get xp for everything, crafting and farming resorces to boot.

You could probaly do all the quests alone and get to in a fairly quick amount of time just soloing.

This is the problem I have had I do not and never did like doing quests in any mmo for the most part I just skiped them all unless I had to do them for my class, I do not get mmo's to do quests I do not even read the garbage they say I just go here retrive this take it here or go here and kill X number of this mob rinse wash and repeat from level 1 to max level boreing, snooze fest if I want to do this I will play my PS3 or X-box 360 I play to have fun and do things with other people.

EQ1, WAR, got this right you grouped and could PVP from level1 not you must PVE your way to the top ( or at least to level 20) to finaly PVP. You can easly solo play this game( they went right to the WOW cutter for this) and not need anyone but your self depending on your class(OP cleric for the solo win)  to get to level 20 as I have seen and from what I have read and heard you can get to 50 on quests alone.

PVE teaches you nothing about PVP soloing to 20 then jumping into PVPVE or what ever the hell they want to call it ( great add some PVE to PVP like I am not sick of your PVE allready that I just want to vomit.) now you get to learn to PVP at 20 a waste of 20 levels grinding away at PVE. At least in WAR you laerned group play in PVP from level 1 you learned ranges, tactic's etc. etc. not here.

Now here is a real  treat what do I get for this forced PVE grind? nothig but leveling the itmes are a joke in this game you get 1 set of green or common armor same with weapons changing about every three levels, man can I realy have the choice between 2 difrent sets a whole two? ( ya like you can not tell this is a Asian game just from that) and only from 3 peices of armor you do not start to get other peices till you get to higher levels you get boots, legs, torso. get a hat and gloves given to you on a quest near level 8 or so depending on when you do it and the rest not till mid teens. Is their another P2P mmo with gear this shity, lack of options for gear, and  level requirments to just get gear? and this is when I am forced to PVE on top of it all. even in WOW or WAR you got a bunch of difrent  options when it came to gear and every varity of rareity not just common or green.

Looks like I will just have to wait for one of the many other mmo's comming out, is this game like all the other F2p Asian grinders that have come out? I would not know I do not play F2P garbage but it  does not feel like any western made P2P mmo thats for sure.(seeing as NCsoft is a Asian company with a U.S. branch should I have expected anything less?)

Am I saying this game is garbage? no just not for me I am sure that their are many who love the above mentioned content and it will be a plus in their eyes but these are also the people you will not see in a darkfall or mortal online (if these games where done right) they are the post WOW mmo players who love their PVE,soloing, and getting to end game in less then a week.

Looks like my C.C. company has to save me again should have know, should have known.....

Thanks for trying the game out, I hope you submitted a few bug reports in closed beta so those of us who enjoy have a better experience at launch. Take care, I know your looking for a EQ1 experience but ... you probably hated Vanguard and that was it... no other EQ1's are being made and WAR failed its players by withholding many of the features and not using the true extent of the Warhammer content they could of. Warhammer is a very bloody and dark world... they made it wowisk... go figure warhammer fans didn't like that.

Here are my steps of success for you:

    1. Turn off the computer.

    2. Step away from the computer.

    3. Walk to your nearest gaming console.

    4. Play games on the console.

MMOs are not for you. Take care.

They can adjust a game all day, but they can't help the issue between the keyboard and the chair.
Played: UO, DAoC, AC, WoW, EVE, TR, WAR, Aion, Rift, SWTOR, GW2, TSW, ESO, Elite:D
Play EVE for free for 21 days

I admit I didnt read all your post OP but from what I read I got you want an MMO that can make you lvl without quests and that you dont have to grind till cap.

Is it just me, or does it seem like a lot of people are using credit card chargebacks as a form of 'rree trial' for new games?

No no no. you got it all wrong. hes one of those people who made a conan account because they heard funcom was letting people roll a free level 50.  Then he realized he wasted his money because it was only for people who already had a level 50.

Nope its not just you. Neither is putting a list of included features on the box that are not ready when the game launches.

Maybe one day software will work as advertised and charge backs won't be necessary.

He's got a valid point about leveling via PVP, although much more a matter of preference rather than the quality of a game.

I absolutely loved the fact you could PVP in WAR right off the bat and group up... but it was generally mindless and disorganized.

It sounds like you want WAR.  Why aren't you playing it again?

  • grimmbotgrimmbot Member Posts: 302

The "My Eyes Would Bleed" version of the OP's post:

    1) He doesn't feel there's a grind, but:

    2) Doesn't like questing at all and chooses not to quest unless he needs to.

(So he loves to grind, but doesn't see one)

    3) He doesn't like that Aion chose not to copy WAR's format of PvP-levelling from Level 1. He feels that if there's PvP after Level 20, there should also be PvP before Level 20 as some sort of training course.

(basically he's ripping Aion for not being WAR)

    4) He feels that in lower levels the gear is "shitty" and there aren't enough equippable armor slots early in the game. Believes that for the "forced PvE grind", the rewards are bad.

(So he sees no grind, but loves to grind, and now hates that he's forced to grind)

    -------

So uh, basically, the OP wants to either PvP immediately or get phat lewt for his PvE until he can. But really, he's proud of his Mortal/Darkfall heritage and just wants to PvP immediately.

Now don't get me wrong -- I intentionally avoided reading up much on Aion to avoid the hype, but I don't recall anything comparing this game to Mortal Online, Darkfall or even WAR. If you went so far as to pre-order this game with that thought in mind, then your credit card company should basically tell you that ignorance on your part doesn't equate to an emergency on theirs. ;P

If you want immediate PvP, either play WAR and suffer through the horrific design, or play an FPS game.

Ever heard of credit card fraud?

No I do not mind grinding mob's as you put it in EQ1 thats basickly all you did.

But you where in a group from the beging or you waited to be called on a list to get into the group, then you had raids.

I did not have to quest grind I could level just bye grinding with friends or with a group of people I did not solo and quest grind soloing till X level to get into groups or to PVP.

To the the dumbass WAR comment about just doing PVP. You are a moron. if you did PVE in WAR and you played the game wrong, with sc's orvr and ganking on dark craig who did PVE other then to farm a item here or their, had full ani set bye 19 on one chacter with out one peice being bought you are probaly one of those people who I see account for sale level 40 RR 15 your a joke I would reactivate my war account just to 1V1 you and show you the difrence between having a RR rank with gear and you having your PVE gear.

I am basickly saying I do not want a solo Questgrinder with shity rewards.

Wall of Text crits you for 54985429 damage...

I think this is actually a growing sentiment among online gamers. They don't want to feel like they are questing/grinding for the sole purpose of leveling up. They want to have an adventure from the second they log into the game for the first time. IMHO games like SWTOR are trying to address this. I don't think they are doing it completely right but they are at least attempting to tie-in questing with a lengthy story line. Hopefully this will be the start of a new MMO revolution that gets us away from the grindfest, cookie -cutter craze.

Jesus christ, if your trying to make an arguement atleast type in english and stop flapping your e-peen around. Other then that, I only agree to one point of yours. That they could have had pvp from lvl 1 as purely optional and not forced upon. Like someone said above, its not really a plus in WAR to pvp at lvl 1. Mostly you went in rvr to die when your new to the game, you did nothing to help your team but be cannon fodder.

Leaving Pvp until lvl 20 helps players get use to the game, with the controls, atmosphere, skills, etc. Plus your doing yourself a huge disfavor from not reading any of the storylines, its just sad.

If Aion isn't a grind and lvling is rather easy, then why would they have several sets of equipment early on? If it only takes you to get to lvl 20 in x few hrs, having multiple sets of items is useless as you will outgrow them in no time.

Agree. At level 1 or 2 you have very little spells and know next to nothing about your class. It takes time to really learn about what your class can really do, and throughout the leveling time ( to 10 or 20? ) you get to have a real feel about it.

Spamming the same spell over and over again in early level is not pvp, but a grind to get reown rank...

Ive have quit wow 3 times. Every time i came back it was because i thought new content would keep me interested. Turns out WoWs new content is no challenge so I find my self quitting and this time making no plans on returning.  Aion looks like it has good ideas with pvp that will keep me interested much longer.

I have to agree with the OP - going from hub to hub, doing essentially the same quest over and over again, picking up the same stramlined gear that everyone else has.

AoC and WAR were better than this and look how well they did.
