CCP Abathur has posted a new dev blog entry detailing some of the sov changes planned for the Dominion expansion. It is only the first of a series of entries that will explore the Domion expansion.

Some info found in that post:
- Sovereignty will no longer be tied directly to starbases.
- There are no sov ‘levels' anymore; you either have sovereignty or you do not.
- To control a system you have to pay the stargates monthly maintenance and upkeep.
- The more space you hold, the more expensive it becomes to maintain your stargate network.
- Alliances will be able to improve the space they hold.
- Some improvements will allow alliances to discover new riches in systems that were barren.
- Other improvements will expand and improve the efficiency of the industrial base.
- Others will concern the defence of the systems.
- Small gangs of raiders will be able to disrupt the day to day operations.
- Massive battleship and capital fleets will be needed to actually conquer the same systems.
- Conquest is changed, strategies that work in one system may completely fail in the next.
- Defending your space will change as well, with new military infrastructure options.
- A new set of tools will give up-to-the-moment info on what is happening in a controlled system.
- Planned: Treaties formalizing agreements already in game (renting of space, military treaties, diplomatic boundaries, ...)

A new dev post, this time talking about the many changes on the capital ships. You can find it here.
Some info you'll find there:
- Titans: changes to their Doomdsday weapon (it will be targeted), and increase of hit points.
- Carriers: reduced duration and fuel consumption of the Triage module by half.
- Dreadnaughts: mostly unchanged.
- Motherships: now reclassified as Supercarriers. They lose their Triage modules and Clone Vat Bays, and gain hit points and the new Fighter Bombers able to launch specialized anti-capital torpedoes.

Two weeks ago CCP announced that they would be redoing Faction ships for Dominion, both the Navy and Pirate ships. The official announcements can be found here and here.
While these official posts are quite detailed, they can be a bit overwhelming. Today an article in the Tribune by Miyamoto Isoruku explains in layman terms what those changes are about. Enjoy.
