After spending a month in Japan, and seeing more then enough hot girls with these douchebag guys that look like girls. And also hearing alot of other stuff from friends in my own country that have visited Japan.

 

They don't know the Western standard "Cool". As in good looking, bit muscular or w/e. All the Asian people know as "Cool" is being a girl as a guy. It's that simple.

I agree some of the animation leaving something to be desired in that department.

can't take a screenshot as I can't find my pc keyboard (with ss button) but tempates 31, 28, 27,22, 21, are all "manly" faces. For starters. This is Elyos side. Not sure if they are the same on asmo side.

actually since there was a mention of asian cultures earlier, in asian cultures features of a woman are praised, you see because it was seen as " the more you look like your mother the more lucky you would be in life" so its not actually their fault its just what they're used to. its not a matter of sexuality and all this other blasphemy,  its really a basis of cultural difference, plus I'm sure as with any other fricken game there will be updates in hairstyles and what not, so dont be complaining about " oh i keep making my characters look gay, because when i make them look straight they look ugly!" blah blah blah, you make them how you see them as attractive.

and in actuality this is where body issues and stuff comes in. Everybody has a specific body type they like etc specific face structure, and when we look at ourselves we dont see that "perfection" we end up seeing whats wrong in ourselves. Not saying thats its not a little gay to want a masculine bear-ish character but, i think every one in the world is a little gay, ranging from 1-10, i mean if you have ever looked at a guys body and wanted his...abs, you're admiring his body...so you'd be at like a 1. etc etc.

I find this thread funny LOL, at least you have options unlike final fantasy 11 online which gave you like 12 generic plus one color change, i saw like 15 of me in 1 day.

The character models aren't so bad, as previously noted you can look like whatever you want. The animations for males are a bit effeminate. It makes it hard to relate to your toon when he walks like your ole lady. I'll play this game for awhile just for something to do, and I'll quit as soon as a couple other titles I like come out, this topic will be the smallest reason I know this game isn't me long term, but still one of the reasons.

Also a woman on this thread compared it to being forced to play a male toon on a mmo......what game was that? I've been playing these things since eq1 and can't think of one that was designed with exc lusively male characters. This one seems to want to be the first meterosexual game only game. Does it threaten me? No. Will it stop me from playing? no. Does it effect with my immersion in the game? Yes, because I can't relate to my toon at all.

Yes, the samurai liked the colour pink because they were gay. And the Spartan men were very heterosexual manly and never had sex with other men.

Well that's the thing, I don't beieve they have.

They are saying that x looks manly. But that is only from where they are standing. It's very possible that what one individual or culture looks at as masculine might look unkempt and boorish to another.

If their version of cool attracts hot Japanese chicks then I don't see how anyone can find much flaw in their approach.

Asian cultures in the modern era, all due respect to the samurai(who had a tradition of pederasty all their own to rival the spartans btw)are just more effeminate. It just is they know it as well. Now if the idea of a man just being a man offends you, so be it. I would rather my toon not be a drag queen, that's just my personal view on it, whether or not you respect it is up both entirely up to you and irrelevant.

On feature that I really like (maybe you missed it) is that for a given face you can choose increasingly older and battered facial features, deeper and deeper wrinkles etc
If you do not modify those options you'll always see the default face that happens to be the youngest one.

 

It Goes waaaay beyond the faces Glo, its in the postures, the body movement the hands on the hips (ass), the panting, the palm frawn over the head when its raining, the pom poms for the cheer, its sickening actually.

Well a lot of the hairstyles remind me of some of the "glam" hairstyles that are popular in Japan and Korea. So what we see as effeminate here women there see as do-able, I guess. In any case I never saw much about magical elves as "masculine" anyhow.

It's an emotion for god's sake! It's not like your going to use it every second while playing, emotions are there to have some fun.

Chaos online for one....like if you want to be a rogue, you're forced to play a female character...can't tjink off-hand, but there are a few more. If  I'm not mistaken, in Archlord; if you want to be a certain class you have to be a specific race which I think also forces you to be a specific gender...not certain about the gender issue in that one though.

I have seen toons of many different looks on AION. The customization for this game is really cool.

Toad wolf or whatever your name was stop trolling and either remake or move on.

AION has been very fun to play so far. I cant wait for the official launch so I can make a character for keeps to grow in the game with.
