How hard is it to make money in EQ2?

LionusLionus Member Posts: 19

I had a hard time making money in EQ1. In the low lvl 40s range mobs mostly drop 2-5 plat , but the items you want to buy cost 2K+ plat.

It's pretty difficult at first..unless you know some little hints.

Once u hit a lvl 20 crafter, you wont have any problems making money (unless you are a scribe)...the profits to make scribe materials is pretty slim. Armorcrafting and weaponsmithing for some reason generates lotsa money.

Also, if you want to leave the isle of refuge with quite a few silver pieces, I'd recommend staying there for a good day or so. Even though you cannot go past 220% past lvl 6 (you can only go to lvl 7 once you become a citizen of one of the cities), the isle of refuge has some pretty decent money drops.

Good news is, you wont be buying a good set of armor for tons of money either. So, while it doesnt look like much it really is.

Money is way harder then EQlive to make.

Not a bad thing really  but it seems you will always have enough to meet your basic needs and affordable armor/weapons even if you don't go the crafting route.

The money you can make can get you the best armor/weapons sold from merchants easily.

Where you might be scrounging for money is when you want to buy armor/weapons that are drops off of mobs, or when you want to buy upgrades of skills/spells(Adept 1, Master 1, etc.).

Put it this way: You'll always have what you need, but you can always get more.

And when I say always, I mean ALWAYS. At level 50 there will still be plenty of things you can get more of. On top of better armor and better weapons, there will always be skill upgrades. SOE has said there will be ~2 Master IV scrolls on a server for each type of skill.. so it would be pretty much impossible to get the master IV scroll for every skill/spell you have. ::::31::::::31::::::31::::::31::

In EQI most people would just beg or walk around with shitty items at lower lvls. I had friends that would hook me up so I was always tweeked. Now in EQ2, will this still be a problem, alot of noobs would have really nice armor, while the people that actually worked for it will have crap armor until later on?

I am sure the money market will be flooded in a few months like it is in DAoC and EQI where they just give money away by the millions.

wont be a problem in EQ2. They have skill restrictions on the armor now...plus as you get higher in skill in that particular armor, the armors AC gets higher as theoritically (sp) you become proficient with it

Once the game has been out for a fair amount of time, it'll give the economy time to generate equipment and lower prices as more and more people move in and out of gear do to gaining levels. The items that used to be top of the line in EQ1 are now getting sold to vendors because of their commonplaceness (is that a word?) and low prices of things that are much much better.

Lot of people are talking about the grind of soloing, I'm more worred about if solo people can make enough money by themselves to afford items. I like to solo and group. Is there many quests, that give money as reward?

I made level 10 today and money seems scarce for me.. I was trying to complete some of my Antonica Kill missions to try to make up some cash... that is.. till the servers went down. :)
