Never thought someone would piss me off in a random post aimed at a OP I highly disagree with, but it's pretty rude to generalize 18-25 year olds as children with no patience... By your defenition, we have a bunch of kiddies going to get shot in wars. That tune doesn't exactly ring very well.

No offense to you but I would have a very hard time calling anyone under 30-35 an adult.  They might be able legally enter into contracts, drive and be killed but that does make them mature adults capable of controlling their emotions, their desires for attention, having anything close to an attention span or patience  or able to develop a sense of empathy for others.  I don't see any difference in maturity between most 15 and 25 year olds except that the 25 year old is generally louder and more obnoxious with a greater need to garner attention for himself.  Physically males brains do not mature until around age 25 where they can develop empathy.  With influences from popular culture and the general idiocy that is transmitted to these youngsters through television and the internet their path to maturity and some sort of rational thinking is likely greatly slowed. In todays culture actually having them develop any sort of empathy or understanding of anyone but themselves may not happen until they die.  I don't mean to offend as its not their fault.  Growing up and maturing is a process that takes time and something that is very hard to achieve in the environment they live in.  PvP kiddies, like the OP,  and those that spend most of their time hyping and eventually flaming games on the internet, are the worst of these children.  Completely lacking in patience and in the ability to think outside their immediate plane of existence coupled with a huge need to call attention to themselves.

What 'lore' exists is basically there to explain why you can't really fly when you want to.  And it's around on the official site, but frankly not even worth seeking out due to it's generic nature.

LOL...yeah that's for sure.  My favorite char is the Assassin and the combat with the assassin is great.  I also got a Cleric to lvl 24 in CB, but I found them to be boring.  But with assassins (got mine to lvl 17)  the combat is fast and furious and if you move around (in and out./side to side) you can take less damage and do more damage. I like the game...no it's not perfect, but for me it's fun and that's what counts.

    Same here.

I ordered the CE from NCSoft.  I submitted a ticket requesting a refund which they have already done.

I saw that Aion was being made by NCsoft when it was first announced. That was the grand total of my interest in Aion.

I honestly know nothing about the game, never played/seen it, anything.

NCsoft has an F with the BBB for shady practices.

I realized in Beta tonight that if anything sucks about this game, it's the community.

I didn't realize you could be as dumb as some of the people in Aion and still work a computer. Chat is overrun with people asking how to do the starter quests, which are simple enough, but just in case you can't get it, the quest log has hyperlinks that show you on the map where you're going. On top of that, I've seen some of the most ignorant statements coming out of people.

Each new MMO seems to have a dumber audience. Can we go back to the days where anything RPG was a niche market for nerds?

I'd never thought of looking at BBB for MMOs before.

    For gee whiz info:

NCSoft: Grade - F, 72 complaints, not BBB accredited

Blizzard: Grade - B, 2193 complaints, BBB accredited

Mythic: Grade - F, 16 complaints, not BBB accredited

Funcom: Grade - A, 97 complaints, not BBB accredited

Turbine: Grade - A, 27 complaints, not BBB accredited

I leveled 3 toons to level 10 in the WoW beta. The quests, the combat--they were completely second rate. Not engaging or immersive. Not only that, but the community was horrible. Granted I've seen worse people, but making suggestions to those barrens' lunatics was not a smart choice. It doesn't matter to me that the beta players will be different than the paying players--I'm too dumb to see the difference anyway. And speaking of Lore, what the hell? I'm sorry if people find killing bandits to get their bandanas interesting, or thumping sleeping orcs on their heads with a club. Maybe I'm the only one who doesn't read quest text, but doing these tasks seemed pointless. My rant is over, I just felt like venting my negative feelings after having experienced 10% of the game's tutorial content. I'll probably come back though a few more times to add uninformed, negative opinions to other threads about a game I don't even play. Anyway, I'm burned out on MMOs and need a break. Anyone have a cheap Wii remote I can buy?

They can adjust a game all day, but they can't help the issue between the keyboard and the chair.

I won't deny that the community isn't great right now, but it's open beta, so it isn't necessarily indicative of the community once everyone on there is a paying customer.

I've found the community in the open beta to be friendlier than the community in the game I currently subscribed to, though (AoC). There are some real characters on there.

I'm just waiting for a F2P overhyped sandbox WoW clone with full PVP, epic raid bosses, instanced group content, and Crysis-quality graphics to come out. That, or something fun.

Speaking of Aion chat, why can't you use channels until level 5? I've seen people asking good questions in chat that I have to answer by tell because I can't respond publicly. I still get the message across, but anyone wondering the same thing is left out.

I love this feature. I hope more new MMOs put something like this in. It gives people a chance to think on their own (gasp!), while at the same time preventing spammers from rolling a level 1 toon and flooding the channels.

I think letting people hear other opinions / experiences is very helpful for those people trying to make up their minds about the game.  Regardless if someone will be playing the game when it goes live, if they've played the game in CB and/or OB then their opinion is just as valid as anyone else.

Often you have to look at the complaints to get a true feel for what (if any) problems a game is having.  Too many people fall in love with a game and put on the blinders and/or may be unwilling to discuss the negatives.  Once you're aware of the negatives you can make a better decision whether or not the game is for you.

I agree, unless you had a chance to see a finished product already in a alpha beta phase, witch btw is quite possible.

Two things that really struck it as lame was a RVR/PVP game with only two factions,i mean come on WAR did this and it turned me off of WAR immediately. The other thing is that how can NCSOFT be claiming to make the next two expansions for a game that is not even released?geesh that is like saying we are making the rest of your game, but we want to sell it to you in two more installments to scam you for more money.

If not for the recent uproar over TR and AOC,i think NCSOFT would have released this game already, they are in a "fear" mode right now. This is also why they chose the 1.5 patch they got negative feedback from the Asian community. The funny part is that they claim to be making the NA version to fit our gaming needs, yet they chose to implement the same 1.5 patch for the NA game lol,how did they know before the 1.o was even tested here first? That was all BS hype anyhow, claiming to be catering to the NA public, lmao did anyone actually buy into that?

When you see a game like AION with such little content available, make sure you play test it first to be sure ,i would not chance a pre order. Now if AION was a game with 6+ factions, tons of races and some unique game ideas[besides flying],then i could see some high expectations for a good PVP RVR game, but this is not the case here at all.

The other big fail was by having ONLY 2 factions, they were "forced" to make both factions FLYING,otherwise there would be no flight combat, lmao sad really when you think about it.I mean it really irked me when i found out both factions could fly,i thought that was really dumb, but like i said they were forced into it by cheap design. It really looks like an unfinished game, something i would not pre order.

Yeah, because a game is definitely worthwhile when you have to *look* for the fun.

OP; cancel the order if you don't like it.  I did.  Funny thing is, got the refund from Steam, yet NCsoft is so borked that they still show me as having a CE preorder with play access until sometime in October.  So basically, free game that I don't want to play.  Yay.

The problem is that some people come here to complain but have no real experience with the game. Take the OP for example. He played several toons to level 10. Leveling to 10 basically gets you through the initial tutorial zone. I don't know about you, but it doesn't seem to me that the tutorial zone really reflects the pvp, dungeons, and rifting that you will experience later. He then claims that the game is not immersive, but I bet you he is like so many other rat-chasing-the-cheese MMOers who skip the "why"s and story behind quests and just care about how quickly they can complete the task itself. The quest text in Aion actually is well done as it gradually reveals the larger story arc behind the game's lore. If you give it a chance (or a read), it is just as immersive as any other MMO out there. He also comments that the community isn't great either, but what he fails to realize is that this is an open beta and most of the "community" he sees now is actually not the real Aion community.

Sharing an informed opinion is one thing, writing negative comments based on limited experience and false assumptions is another.

I guess we should all bow down on our knees and kiss your highness's a$$ now?  You play video games (like the rest of us) for god's sakes...what makes you any different than us?  Your a pot calling a kettle black...Although I'm 31, I still find it pretentious for you to call anyone 18-25 immature.  Everyone matures at the own pace depending no their ability to learn, their parents, their environment and how far away they are from you (the further the better).

On a side note, Aion has some great things to offer and some not so great things.  Im a big fan of fast combat, so this game isn't for me.  I do think that it will appeal to a pretty large crowd and I'm happy that that crowd was able to find a game they like :)

    Why did I preorder?

Answer  : Cause I'm another bandwagon MMO guy who is gullible and believes overhypeness

Aion is garbage which will revolve around equips and people botting in the game.

I for one havent read the quests yet because I am waiting for live retail so I can FULLY immerse myself in the gameworld! People arnt seeing the big picture. They are not looking past the "MMO mechanics" to see the living, breathing, "world" that is behind them. It is this world people will get lost in!

I for one love the subject mantra (ever read the Planescape Novels? Angels and Demos fighitng in the abyss - awesome!)  I truly hope that when the game takes off (no pun) that some writers get together and write some novels based in the game world - this will also help people get "into" the Lore.

I am eager and excitied to sip at the game like a mulled wine. Its about the journey.

BTW - Can we get an Oceanic "RP" unoffical server too?

PS - Oh, that is why I pre-ordered!

PPS - Can we get a lifetime subscription? That would rock the world!
