Getting Wings in Aion.

I recently played AION and I was looking forward to flying around. Alas, level 10 is reached and I gain my wings, but I can only fly for around 2 minutes. Can anyone explain why the small amount of time for something that is a main attraction to the gameplay?
Or could this be a Beta only limitation?

This is not a beta limitation. There are ways to improve your flight time and speed. See below from Aion powerwiki:

That's because it's not the "main attraction" as you put it.
Maybe it is for you personally but in the grand scheme of gameplay it is just a small element in the overall Abyss PvPvE format.
It's can be used in PvE environments in certain areas, but flying is in the game to be a part of your strategy when fighting the opposing faction in the Abyss.
As you progress through the game you will get better wings with more flight time and you can also buy potions that will give you additional flight time as well.
Flying is not a method of travel it is meant to be used in the Abyss as one tool in your character's arsenal.

Your first run though aion, getting your wings is a big deal. You have these cut scene and mini flying previews running up to 10, and you cant wait.
You finally have wings, but you cant use them here....you go to the city, you do the flying quest, you get to fly around untill you try to leave into the pve fields and hit a glass wall.
And theres a cool down and long regen time.
You get over wings real fast, and will mostly use them to space bar glide down hills whenever possible.
I believe your flight time increases as you level though.
Still if they are going to limit where i can fly, they could at least let me enjoy flying as much as possible when i am allowd too.
Im sure wings are more usefull later on though.
Not being able to fly in PvE areas is a good thing, it restricts you from going to places you're not suppose to be yet, if you could fly anywhere at anytime, you can just skip the run through monsters and that's no fun, it'd be too easy. There's a reason for it all. Flying really isn't all that fun, I really like the gliding, gets me places faster and I can avoid monsters when too many aggro on me, but that's just my opinion.
