WoW is for the dumb, lazy and unimaginative people. Because of it, it brought down the entire genre when it label itself an mmo...true story.

I'm not trolling m8 and to all these guys saying that aion doesn't look to lineage at all let me inform em that i have been playing in lineage private servers 2 years ago for over a year and also in the official server for half a year so i have a 73 lvl spell howler and i know what i am talking about..u say they have nothing in common so... Aion has keeps and fortresses Lineage has too so the main aspect of Aion pvp is the same with lineage, -which are located in the abyss, and RVR style zone a la DAOC and nothing like the keeps which were in the open world in L2. PVE raid bosses are on the exact same playstyle with easy/no tactics just tank and spank. - Its not WOW/EQ, with crafted raids, again more like DAOC, WAR, AOC or many other games, not just L2. Sooo Aion and Lineage Endgame is kinda the same dont u think? - No, not really, in Lineage you own the castles and actually set the tax rates for the zones that other players pay you. This is more like DAOC IMO. Also look at a Lineage 2 town and a Aion one both town's leader is a NPC called High priest and thats for every lineage town( obviously i dont know about other aion town but i know for pandemonium, - What if they called them both Mayors? But we'll give you this one. u learn skills through spellbooks u buy, - Er....vs learning them from an NPC like in WOW? EVE uses skill books that you buy to skill up, so maybe they were copying EVE? all classes have mana, - all classes have the ability to sit and that raises their hp/mp regen, - Is there a fantasy game out there where that isn't true? This is a standard mechanic of most RPG u loose exp when u die, - Not common in most modern games, but endemic to earlier ones and Asian games. ( i.e Runes of Magic) Not everything needs to be easy mode. u have the exactly same emotes and some more in aion, - Granted, why would they change this, how much can you do with emotes, a useless fluff feature, might as well reuse them. both games get u started with a general class and u have to do some quest in order to get your profession - Again, a standard game mechanic employed by many other games besides L2. (DAOC had it) there is also the same pick up ability - as opposed to what? no reason to change it, just a mechanic. the armor design style is exactly the same - Its in the same Art style, but I don't see identical armor sets. and the character customization at its base is the same though a lot more complicated (thank god no more porn star like females and ugly gay males) - Darn, I miss porn star females, but as you said, its a lot more complicated, so makes sense its a natural evolution of a mechanic. Also the way that some one "tags" mobs and takes loot by doing the most damage is the same stupid and unfare system with lineage 2 that made worthly the "PK" system that L2 featured. - Ack, you just said "unfair" in a PVP game. Go back to WOW. No, DAOC had this same system, so it isn't unique to L2. The main difference that will turn off l2 fans is that Aion has not FFA PVP and so u cant attack the guy that stole your loot or whatever the guy that was in front of you in a bad day or whatever :P - You never could attack anyone in L2 either, the honor system (going red) really discouraged anyone from taking any real chances. Can't even really call it a true FFA PVP system. Meanwhile Aion is RvR....lots different. Obviously NC soft didn't learned a lot from the community and its trying to sell another lineage like mmo. - Actually, they kept what they felt worked well, and changed its focus to make an RVR oriented game, a la WAR or DAOC. But again, its no L2, more like WOW in terms of difficulty. [Seriously now if Aion has all these similarities (and i am sure i didn't list everything) with lineage 2 then how is lineage 3 going to be according to your logic? the exact same game with some new zones/classes on it?] - Sigh, you fail to see the forest for the trees.
You basically listed game mechanics that are common to many other MMO's, including L2, and called out interface features that worked well in L2 (and many other games) and said see..... looks just like L2.
At their core, Aion is far more friendly to the casual player (that you only played on private shards means you don't understand the real game's difficulty, esp when it first was released) coupled with much more gentle death penalties (in early L2 you could drop your gear when mobs killed you, never mind PK's) and the entire combat focus is RVR which was certainly not L2.
You keep looking at minutia and comparing them without seeing the overall big picture.
Fans of both L2 and Aion will completely disagree with your comparisons of the two games.

I was just going to say there is no way he played a Spell Howler to LV 73 in retail Linage 2 and think Aion and Lineage 2 play the same. Private Server and retail Lineage 2 are totally different. I too spent time on private server and it was a total waste of time.
I really don't get why people keep saying Aion is like Lineage 2. Can some people honnestly not look beyond the logo and territory the game comes from?
Lineage 2 is built around P&C movement. Aion is built around WASD movement
Lineage 2's world is wide and open. Aion's world has a more linear progression
Lineage 2 is made up mostly out of grinding enemies. Aion is built primarily around quests and story elements
Lineage 2's pvp is built around FFA PVP and Clan politics. Aion is built around Realm vs Realm
Quest based levelimg- I mean, WoW practically invented it right? RIGHT?!
Limited classes each with specific abilities and roles- Sounds like WoW right?
Low system requirements - WoW
Skills every few levels - In WoW its 3, but in Aion its 2... SAME THING!
See, any idiot can come up with similarities to another game, but if you look at it overall, you will notice its not just WoW or lineage that its similar too, it pulls in aspects of many games, perfect world, DAOC, WAR, AoC, how can you say its a clone of a single game? When in fact, all games have similarites, its like comparing two people, they might look completely different but their DNA is 99% identical.
It's almost 2010, and I am just not wiling to tolerate clunky graphics while being told that "gameplay is more important than graphics". That excuse won't wash with me any more. I expect my games to have both good graphics and good gameplay. -Quote Isoke(VN boards)

Well i kinda agree with you but instead i dont find it bad if it has WoW features in it..I really liked WoW and i still think its the best MMO i have played so far even if i am totally burned out on it. I just found it bad that it reminds me of the bad times when i played L2 (with the Noob-cocky "hardcore pvp" players, bots, e-bay etc) and i think that most of the players wont like this features too.But still it is too soon to judge and hopefully i want be the one trying it out anyway :P
I like the way the grinding area changes color and I like the artwork. I have only played L2 for about 2 years now and I have two servers of characters. I love the game though some may find it plain.
Some of the Aion style does remind me of Lineage 2 but more-so World Of Warcraft. Actually a combo of WOW and L2. I see where you get the similarities with some of the armor.
And I thought the same thing as you. After a year or two if alot of people drop out they will merge the servers which PlayNC did with L2 and it was a horrible merge and you had to fight for your characters.
One thing I do believe is that PlayNC/NCSoft make a good fantasy game. That is why I am with Aion. Plus their tech support has been really good to me over the years with L2 and COH/COV and GW.
I will not be surprised if bots end up in the game as in L2 with the aasxxx, and aftty names. But I think this sort of grinding will be hard for them to zero in on.
