Mind linking me to something that can give me more information about this?

    In China.

Oh I didn't even think about that. But didn't that have something to do with shit in China, and not necessarily Blizzard themselves? I don't really remember the story, but I remember hearing about it. I thought it was some legal crap though, not like...omg WoW is down because their servers suck...or anything like THAT....

Blizzard doesn't run Wow in China themselves, instead they hired another company to do it. They had a spat and hired a different company instead and had some trouble because of it.

Initial numbers mean nothing for the life of a game.  It's great for NCsoft's pockets and that's it.  Pretty much every "triple A" title sales huge numbers, one month later the game is dead and the parent company is scrambling to converge servers and wondering what went wrong.

I predict a healthy ever growing life of Aion in the west if, the initial server lag isn't too terrible, the grind is ok with the majority of players including time to level.  End game doesn't end up a boring Warhammer style zerg, with cap trading.  Otherwise Aion wont last long as a fast growing game.  At least in my opinion by looking at current trends.

300k is less than AoC and Warhammer, so before you go spouting off falsehood about "millions" (NEVER SOURCED), actually look at the servers and you'll realise Aion is nowhere close to WoW. It's a drop in a bucket.

    Which means nothing.

The guild I'm in is moving to Aion, about 50 guys going. We played in the closed beta but only about 15 of us even bothered playing in the open beta and even then it was very light play. Most people tried the open beta out to see if they liked the game, after they decieded they did or didn't, whats the point in investing to much time into it. Everything you do will be wiped in a weeks time anyhow.

300k is not the total pre-orders, it's the total 'activated' pre-orders. Mostly those ordered online and recieved the code for it right away. However I'll not argue that it's near Wow, but I've already said this once. No one is near Wow and no one will be soon. Wow is a freak MMO that is not the standard in the industry.

They were banned by the Chinese for using 'shiver' skeletons in their game.  Oooo, scary stuff, skeletons.  I guess we know how to beat the Chinese if we ever have a conflict with them, just dress up in our Halloween costumes and ATTACK!

If they can actually stop the bots this time, Aion will gain huge support in the North American market.

    Facts:

    - Aion will launch in EU (and NA) with .... 12 servers each.

    - Not ONE person can link the official NCSoft statement of the supposed 3.5 M China/korea players. It was simply fabricated by one AU fan writer. NCSoft only had a communication of 1.5 M players in May 2009. At the moment they published this info ... Aion was ... free to play on the Chinese servers. In the last quarterly report NCsoft didn't mention ANY info on players. Instead the game showed hardly more revenus than Lineage 2....

    - NCsoft themselves stated it has around NA/EU300K players at pre launch (hence the only 12 servers on each continent).

    - The game in open Beta was less played than the relaunched AD@Don line  even.

    - Both War and AoC each had .... 500 K players 3 days before launch. Resulting in 800K players max 3 weeks past launch.

    - Both War and AoC have now a player activity of around 80K players or under. War is played on 5 servers on each continent.

    - Aion holds a VERY small candle compared to the choices of PvP/PVE/Raids/hype  to WOW.

    - Among others Invisible walls, world broken down into 10 instanced copies (AOC remember),  very liniair leveling, too small world and  no other PvP then zworld zergs.

........So someone should wake up the Aion fans out of their sleep : it is going to be a rude awakening in two months time.

There is one thing you are missing here. WAR and AOC developers LIED to their gamers. Ok? They promised something that wasn't in the game. This is a HUGE mistake.

Aion developers haven't lied. We all know what there is in Aion, to a certain extent of course. So that's an incomparable more solid ground to grow on.

Sorry to burst your otherwise nicely built Bubble of Doom.

Im thinking the Chinese reasoning was that depicting undead was disrespectful to ancestors. Im thinking it probably has more to do with money but thats just a guess.

actually that is the not real reason.  They tried to do an end round on china laws that prohibts a non china based company to operate a MMORPG in china. ( they did not renew the rights to the company that was running it at the time in china) they sold the rights to another company that peopel suspected they had a financial tie to and the chinese goverment interviened.

Its legit you can google court documents involving the case.  I believe blizzard has settled it though.

not only that but the new provider is allowed to reopen operations of WoW in china. To resolve the skeleton issue blizzard had to remove the said skeletons ingame.

Just to give an opinion.  People are still going to play World Of Warcraft.  Aion is a good game.   As a matter of fact on this website its hype ranks higher than the overall score for World Of Warcraft.

Personally I think it is going to end up almost with an 9.0 when finished on par with Guild Wars.  The style is very much the same.

Lineage 3 will not be like Aion and neither will Guild Wars 2.

This is NCSoft's answer to World Of Warcraft AND it is a good answer.  It has been under construction for 2 years that I know of, maybe more.

It will have players for a while because the interface is not hard to learn.  It is very much like WOW.
