I think this MMO will hold me over until The Secret World gets released.

I think the closed and open beta is good, maybe when it is launched, I can find more good things, and I'l say it's a great game!

Yes, because it performs remarkably well and has good combat (I'm also extremely burnt out on WoW).

This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.

That's what people don't understand. People are burned out in WoW, they want another MMO, whether it is a WoW clone or not. Aion is a hidden clone of WoW, but nevertheless, we want something other than WoW and right now Aion seems like it is it. We thought it was Age of Conan, Warhammer, but it seems as if Aion will take down WoW.

I mean most of us are just sick of WoW and looking for something....not new, but something. Aion is something.

i am going through withdrawal from Aion. can't wait for the charector reservation in the very least! boyfriend and i will be purchasing the his and hers CE's online and also getting a few to distribute to friends and family members as well. i didn't even really try to lvl or make g with the open beta but i came away satisfied with the fact that i lvled fairly easily, and upkeep for skills, armor and weapons was a breeze. i found it absurdly funny that the economy made it easy to accrue vast sums of g (god, i love the private store option...perfect for bio breaks!).

I will be playing Aion because it has other real people playing it, very rare for many  MMOG 's these days. :)

I know what that means, it means that you aren't gonna be playing Aion at all. Easy to level? Hmm, at level 25 it'll be so hard you'll quit. lol

    I'll be playing Aion because:

    • I'm bored with LOTRO.  Sad to say, I burned through Mines of Moria, and really Mirkwood looks like more of the same with five levels added.
    • My son will play with me. (omg, he's 16, do you know how hard it is to get on his social calendar as a mom? :)
    • I miss real PvP from SWG/Eve/whatnot
    • I found a really great community in the IVth Skye Lancers legion on Nezekan
    • It's gorgeous.  The environment is varied and beautifully designed.  Last day of OBT, I found the area that looks like western China.  Staggeringly beautiful views.  Living in the city, my vistas tend to be on Vista...
    • The story is immersive and compelling, and the crew that westernized this game are talented in both game flow and storytelling.
    • Flying -- not mounts, not always, but in a tactically interesting constrained way that really changes the nature of combat
    • Healers that can stand up to PvP pressures
    • The game just makes me *happy* in a way LOTRO hasn't for a while, Tolkien geek tho I may be.
    • Real XP for crafting and gathering (hey, you can be a crafter and still kick ass, tyvm!) and actually useful crafted items
    • Lots of really cool ex-DaoC players that I'm really learning to appreciate
    • Did I mention it's gorgeous? A cross between Asian fantasy and Victorian rococo for all the armor sets.  Love it.  Just let me afford dyes fast, because I can't stand wearing shades of pink (*unladylike noise*)
    • Whatever, dudes.  If it isn't fun to you, it doesn't mean it's "not a good game" -- it means "it's not *your* game"  I think it's fun.
    • I get to laugh at all the people who say it's a WoW clone.  WoW was not my game, and I think this is.  I'd far rather go hunting other faction players with an AI faction targeting whoever is ahead, then spend grinding 40 toon raids.  Grinding -- just to organize them.  Then rinse and repeat weekly.  Not my thing.  We aren't supposed to call it RvR, but it is, and that changes the dynamic of the advanced game so it's constantly changing, and a third Ai faction prevents the 70/30 splits that WoW and some other 2-faction games tend to get per shard.
    • I get to bond all the people fleeing from WoW who think it's as cool as I do.  And no barrens chat.  Chuck Norris is too cool for this game, thank god.  (At least so far, and I hope it holds)

Now, will I change my mind in a year?  Maybe so.  I haven't played the high levels, or seen PvP yet.  But talking to the folks who've played the Chinese game, what they tell me, I like, and they seem to like the same kinds of playstyle I enjoy.

Your opinion is your own.  I swear people have crapped more on this game than I've seen even on this site in ages.  When AoC was impending, people had a more balanced PoV toward positive, and it turned out that game was not quite top of the line, but I have to admit, it got better coverage (and bought more ads) here from the columnists too.

So, I exercise my right to be wrong.  Young love and infatuation, that new relationship energy, is still a lovely thing.

I hit lvl25 in a week of casual playing hours during OB.  Dam dude it's not THAT hard,  If you think aion has a steep lvling curve maybe you should not be playing mmo's and stick to FPS's.

Which is exactly why people are switching to Aion, the next best thing, probably will hold us over until a real MMO comes out.

    I will play it , i preordred 4 motnhs ago i think.

And if Aion fails , there will still have loyal fans to play the game, like in Lineage 2.

Allso i think all those who played L2 will play this game, since its basicly L3.

Dont worry about if it going to fail or not , i sure it will not be a Tabula rasa fail

After that I'll try ST and Kotor, but nothing is gonna pull me from a Blizzard game.
Certainly not a translated closed Korean box with fixed zones and invisible walls.
I guess Xfire will for sure display the truth behind those so called massive successes.
400 K at launch and 100K after one year. We already have seen it all. In every aspect.

As long as it holds it's million in Asia, otherwise, I might quit as well.

oh, look! it's a big fat troll trying to start an argument. do you know me, troll? no you don't. so don't presume to predict what i will and will not be doing, thank-you.

honestly, what makes you post such a hostile and assumptive comment?

i actually enjoy a challenge when lvling . everyone knows that Aion will be most enjoyable when you hit the higher lvls, so i was merely commenting on the fact that you don't end up spending inordinate amounts of time  grinding away to get to the lvl where pvp really shines. and of course, i am aware that lvling becomes more challenging the higher you go. that is one of the hallmarks of a quality MMORPG. if i didn't experience some expenditure of effort in a game, there would be no point in playing the game in the first place.

the fact that i could lvl quickly while a lowbie just means that i could decide on my class preference for this particular game with less time wasted. (this is important to me, as i will be purchasing this game for my daughter, who has never played MMORPG's before and i would like her to get a full sense of the advantages and drawbacks of each class before setting her sights on her personal favorite and concentrating on lvling that toon.)  i personally don't expect things to continue along those lines throughout the entire duration of the game. i certainly hope they do not!

Yes, I will be playing. This game has many of the game aspects that I like an mmo to have.

I was not going to play at first:

          1) Only 2 races, (I tend to prefer a lot more).

          2) Only 4 classes, (I was used to WOW and EQ and a bunch of others where you can tell if you like the class much sooner).

          3) It was put out by NC soft (I hated Lineage 2, on my server some of the level 35 Dark Elves would return to the noob areas and gank the level 1-10’s).

Then I played the OB and OMG, it was sooo good:

          1) The character creation, although you stats will not change you can visually make nearly any race you want.

          2) In game cut scenes, sometimes your character would be in the scene using the voice you picked for him

          3) I truly epic story line and feel, ok everyone gets the Daeva ascension video, but still, it made me feel more a part of the story then I did in EQ, DAoC, WoW, Lineage 2, and WAR.

These are just a few of my reasons for playing at release.

No I wont be. Because of the number of times I have been burned by the MMORPG industry releasing broken or unfinished games I always wait a few months to purchase and will almost never buy unless there is a free trial. So basically they have to prove that they are legit before they get my coin. Is that so much to ask?

Great Post this, and summed up my feelings perfectly, so much trolling on AION - its as if the WoW world is really very scared of it indeed.

I'm interested in the game, but I refuse to install a rootkit on my computer so will probably never play it.

  • f1sebf1seb Member UncommonPosts: 194

Yes I will be playing the game.  Yes I know it's not original but at least it will keep me busy till Star Wars comes out and then I'll become a bounty hunter.  Just to kill time with Aion.

Yah this seems to be the case with a lot of Aion players, I hope not everyone is planning on leaving it for something else.

That's why I have two computers, one for gaming and one for business and online shopping. Those rootkits, they're a mess.
