Aion is DAoC light. Hell instead of three races you get only two and less PvE to participate in! LOL! And this is what people are calling a good MMORPG. As for WoW - Aion cannot touch WoW. WoW has more races, more clasess and way bigger world to explore and the BG's in WoW put anything Aion has to offer to shame. I love how the WoW haters that are hyping Aion try to make it seem otherwise but the fact is in the games. I have played all three and Aion is just not that good of a game. It's as if they cut a lot of corners to get it to market and what we got was an extermely shallow game that brings with it all that is bad from games like Lineage 2 and such. Lineage 2 is a better game than Aion, even. If Aion floats your boat, go for it, but do not try to make it out to be something it is not and it is a far from being the next big MMO - if anything it will be a niche' game for a few die-hard fans of of this style of game and will not be all that successful in EU and NA.
I find it quite ironic that a person who has admitted to have only played for a little while is making all sorts of claims about the game you couldn't possibly have known.
Your first few arguments are silly. WoW has more races and more classes. Everquest 2 has even more so by that criteria, Everquets 2 must be a better game, right?
Battlegrounds are better than anything AIon has to offer? How would you know? You know next to nothing about the game.
Remember how you were so ignorant about Aion you actually made a post in the off - topic saying how it was a Lineage 2 type Asian grinder? Oh but now it's suddenly Dark age of Camelot light?
Here is a suggestion Teala: Go play Mount & Blade and stop criticizing games you clearly know nothing about. It makes you look rather stupid.
For anybody who still needs further confirmation you can safely ignore anything Teala says about Aion and not miss out on anything, this comes from her own mouth:
"Game is just another Korean grinder. I saw nothing in this game that would get me to play it. Nothing. So glad I got a chance to play it. Because it saved me money. ^_^"
So a game that is apparently Dark Age of Camelot Light is also a Korean grinder because Dark Age of Camelot was apparently a korean grinder.
DAoC wasn't a Korean Grinder no, but it was a North American grinder. No vet of DAoC will dispute the fact that DAoC PVE was a grinder. Quest gave little to no exp and the best form of leveling was from
A. Grinding trees in Lyonesse. OR
B. RvR in the frontiers.
Both grinds.
So far 3 of my family members tested out AION, and several co-workers. All of which play wow for now. (I was smart enough not to waste my time after work to download it)
It is very funny to me that not a single one of them is going to leave WoW for AION, and all but one said it was nothing more than WoW with some wings with 1/4 WoW's polish. The one that didn't say that, said it had "potential" but wasn't enough for him to leave WoW.
I guess "potential" means it will maybe one day get better.
Basically saying, why would we leave a good game for another game that isn't as good in any single area.
Anyway, Teala, you aren't alone in your view of AION. Many people think like you.
PS. Gameloading you really shouldn't come on here and call people stupid. You have been on these boards for a long time, and over the years you have made several post I wouldn't exactly call genius moves. Just saying.
I really love post like this. I really do. It doesn't matter if DaoC was a western grinder as her claim was that it was "Just another korean grinder". Even a blind monkey could point out the huge difference between a traditional Korean game such as Lineage and Ragnarok Online and a game like Aion.
I love this part of your post. "I was smart enough not to waste my time after work to download it, my family members told me it sucks" That's some great logic right there. Apparently letting other people decide if a game is good or not for you is what you consider "smart". Do you also let them decide what food you should eat?
Your argument is rather silly. My family members didn't want to leave WoW for it so that means it's not a good game. A lot of people won't leave WoW for Aion. In fact, there are lots of gamers who won't leave WoW for any mmorpg out there. Does that mean WoW is the only good mmorpg out there? Ofcourse not.
Ofcourse Teala isn't alone in her views of Aion, there are lots of people who really don't know much about the game and simply bash on it because it's korean, hence the many invalid Lineage 2 comparisson.
I made you wouldn't call genius moves? Forgive me for not taking note, considering it's comming from someone who considers himself smart for not even trying a game and lets his family decide for him. Wait, did that post come from you or from one of your family members?
I do not let other's decide anything for me, I knew AION was going to be shit years ago when the videos first started to surface.
When my 2 brothers tell me, yep nothing new to see here just same ol same ol bullshit, and I have been playing games with them for the better part of 20+ years, I tend to believe them when they tell me it's not as good as something else.
Now if some bum off the street told me AION was crap that I didn't know, maybe I would blow him off and try it anyway just to see for myself.
However that isn't the case, they know what I want.
You presume to know me or what I think, I honestly do not like wow all that much and am growing quite tired of the game, I have been in a top 100 guild in wow for years now and it is getting very tiresome. I really do wish something would come out that could make me want to leave wow. AION just isn't that game.
Also you make an assumption that I somehow hate asian grinders or "korean" grinders.
I love korean games, I did a piece on here not to long ago as a review on ether saga. Which I liked very much. Ether saga is a grinder to.
I have played them all dude, L1, L2 all the way down to shit not even out yet like Dragon Nest.
It has nothing to do with that, it has to do with AION being no different than anything that is already out. Why would you leave one for another.
For me to leave WoW you would have to beat WoW, and not beat wow in questing, or beat wow in bg's you have to beat wow in every single aspect of the game.
Until a game comes out that can do that, nothing else is worth the time to download or the money.
you got exactly the same question as me when i saw that game first beta in may
why would you leave one for another ?
and i responded to my self nope im not gona leave wow if i have to play this .
so i went backward a bit tried rom ,good but i settled on eq2 never could play it and i have no regrets
great game rp is very nice (altho its not for everybody its an adult game

Far from a kid but thanks for the complement. Asia is a big place....3.5million total since March. Not impressed, and still would love to see an active monthly subscriber number.
Also gameloading I've read some of your old posts. You tend to like to hype games, play then for a small amount of time then trash it. I'm sure in 2 or 3 months when Aion fails in NA/EU we will be reading your posts on how this game sucks too. Tibia? lol ok. You are a typical fanboi and anything you say should be taken as such.
You're sure acting like a kid.
Asia is a big place is irrelevant. So is russia, so is India. Big place =/= big gaming population. Asia's gaming population isn't as big as you make it seem. You seem to have this weird view that every game in asia gets millions of subscribers. It doesn't, those exceptions are quite rare and Aion is one such exception.
Also, I i like to hype games first then trash them? Nobody is more familiar with my post history than I am and I have to say I have no idea what jumps of logic you had to jump through to come to that conclusion. Go ahead and name games I first hyped and then trashed. Tibia? What are you talking about? I never hyped Tibia.
Go ahead keep using the fanboi comments, nothing I post here resembles a fanboi.

You can keep inventing excuses all you want, the cold hard fact of the matter is that you consider yourself smart for not even trying the game and you have no real experience for it.
You seem to have the impression that when a game doesn't reinvent the wheel it means it's a bad game. That is a silly argument. Half Life 2 isn't special in any way, that's still a good game. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess isn't new in any way, that's still a good game. Just because 2 games are similar doesn't mean one game is good and the other who came later is bad.
I never said you hate korean games, I said many people who agree with Teala do so because they have little experience with the game yet still want to have an opinion of the game. They will just call it a "korean grinder" because the fact it comes from Korea is pretty much all they know about the game.
There are actually quite a few reasons why people want to go to Aion. They might like the better graphics, the new storyline, the more fleshed out combat, the more streamlined experience, the fact you can fly most places, the fact all updates are free and what I think is the most important reason: To experience a lot of new content.
A lot of people have played through WoW and have seen most of the content and are now stuck at endgame. They can either keep doing raids to get gear that will become irrelevant whenever the next expansion comes around or they can go play Aion for a while and play through that games content
I think the culture where we play the game game for years and years is slowly changing. I played WoW for quite a long time and I enjoyed it. I will be playing Aion soon and enjoy that too. Next year i'm going to try Final Fantasy XIV and possibly SW:TOR. I think more and more people will keep switching from game to game overtime because it's quite unrealistic to expect a game to entertain you every day for hours and hours for years.
It's identical to WoW and why start over when everyone already plays WoW in the first place. Maybe if I could buy max levels with max gear to participate in such end game shananigans I would but I'm just a burnt out veteran looking for more than what any of them has to offer and the two games is not where it is, I expect GW2 to be the next breakout game in MMO genre just like the original was.
I haven’t played aion but I’ve played Wow for years now. I have every intent on playing a new mmo of this genre but aion offers nothing, absolutely nothing that has excited me to purchase the game. I’ve wanted to believe in aion as I did Lotro, AoC and Warhammer but all were disappointing to me. I’m not just looking for a flashy gimmick, I want something new. I wouldn’t mind playing wow and aion simultaneously if they were different type of games. To tell you the truth, if aion was a different game experience, no one would be comparing wow to aion, they would simply be trying to decide what game they should play more of each month.
What makes a game “different” isn’t a brand new combat system or a new story or new environment or new classes. What makes a game different from another are the list of features that you can NOT find in other mmos. These features can not be gimmicks, they must relate to the players in game experience and equate to fun.
One of the funniest things I see on these reviews is people that say this... I have played wow for years and years... I have 7 lvl 80 characters and done every raid.... and playing this game, it is just more of the same... I will go back to playing wow .
Logic escapes these people. How on earth is a new storyline, a new world, angellic looking characters, new stories.. etc be less new... than doing exactly what you have done before a thousand times? (which btw IS by definition 'More of the same')
I am baffled. Did they expect the computer game to give them a handjob or something?

And just because it has more races, doesn't make it better. I played wow and liked it up to point where I wanted to pvp, but never got anywhere because I wanted to pvp. In order pvp, I had to get pvp gear. In order to get pvp gear, I had to get honor points or arena points(which arena points are hard as hell to get). I had to win arena and BGs. Well since I played horde and in Bgs you loose most of the time since it was in alliance favor... yeah its more work then anything else.. Don't get me wrong I liked playing wow, I am just moving on because of the pvp aspect... I don't have to get certain gear just to pvp and clutting my bank up with armor and weapons. so everyone has their opion on what makes them want or not want to play aion... but judging aion on races is like judging food by looking at it and not tasting it.

I hear what your saying, but on balance, I could use the same argument between most of the preceding games to WoW against WoW. The only thing that wow offered over and above EQ, EQ2 and Anarchy Online. Was polish and good execution. WoWs setting was based on the original warcraft games whose lore and look and feel were very heavily influenced (nah ripped off) from Warhammer, not warhammer online, but warhammer the table top game. WoW offered nothing original to players like me who had already been playing MMO kind of games for years before WoW was even thought about. What moved us to WoW, was the promise of a seamless game-world, excellent story telling, and up-to-date (for the time) graphics. And in many way the gfx made all the difference. None of the other preceding games I had played could hold a torch to WoW, but not due to content, it was due to cosmetics and execution.
Now to Aion, you take the same central dynamics of and EQ-MMORPG, add in sexy gfx, add in a seemless polished game-world, add in something new like flight and combat in-flight, and then add a dose of PvPvE and you have a new product. That borrows from the MMORPG heritage but adds in new gameplay dynamic.
Fundamentally if I wanted a totally different MMO experience, I'd head back to EvE which is without doubt unique in the MMO landscape. But actually I don't. What I want is a game that feels familiar, but is different enough to be enticing and exciting. And so far AION delivers that.
Ultimately if you want something that feels completely to wow different, I’d suggest you take a break from the MMO scene, go play some single player games like Mass Effect.

Well, they could either spend a month or two grinding through uninspired PVE to play PVP and instances at endgame, or they could continue playing WoW where they already are at endgame. If the games are the same (which they are except Aion's PVE is much more of a solo grind), why would they switch?

Because they ARE NOT the same, lol? Why is that so difficult to understand? Just because two games share similar mechanics (the same can be said about many other MMOs), doesn't mean they are the same.
At no point when I was playing Aion and say "Man, I feel like I am playing WoW". Far from it. I was playing Aion, not any other game. I immersed myself in the game--in the moment.
If you are playing Aion, and you think it is the same as WoW, I'd suggest you are simply burned out, jaded, a fanboi, close-minded, brainwashed, stupid, or whatever you want to call it. In any case, you need to step away from MMOs, refresh yourself, and learn not to carry your MMO baggage with you from game to game. You'll be a happier gamer in the long run.
They can adjust a game all day, but they can't help the issue between the keyboard and the chair. Played: UO, DAoC, AC, WoW, EVE, TR, WAR, Aion, Rift, SWTOR, GW2, TSW, ESO, Elite:D Play EVE for free for 21 days

Um, no. I am not stupid, I'm not a fan boy, I'm non-bias. I want another good mmo and Aion has not shown me anything that makes me want to play it. Many players are just experienced. If this is like your first or second mmo you might just do flips at the sight of Aion. Others who have played Lotro, wow, Guild Wars, warhammer, aoc etc might feel the same way I do. I stick with wow because out of them all, it's just a better game. I want another mmo to prove otherwise. I honestly do.
I may buy Aion and play for a month just to give it a whirl but I doubt it will be anytime soon. It hasn't given me one reason to.
I think that also alot of people don't want to leave behind what they are used to or what they think they have "achieved".
I've had several 60s, then 70s and in Wotlk 80s, full equipped well established in WoW. So it's a bit different to start with lvl1 as a nobody and newbie and leap into a "foreign" game, probably getting my ass handed countless times. But if i don't let go whatever there was in WoW and go for new pastures, i will forever keep on standing infront of the bank sorting my bags since there is nothing left to do.
In the end it all comes down to what entertains you for your money.

You are right for the most part but I've done warhammer, lotro, aoc, city of heroes etc. I've spent time with each to at least level 30 believing with all of my heart it would best wow. None has.
I'm sticking with wow until I see some real innovation or change in the gaming industry. I have a lot of hope for guild wars 2 and Star Wars the Old Republic but Aion seems just the same old crap. I haven't read one new feature that makes me want to start new and level through. If I'm bored out of my mind, I may try Aion as most of us here will eventually but I doubt it would be more than a trying out period.
Even if a game was exactly like WoW. It could still be better than WoW. A game doesn't need new features to be better. I think that's what a lot of people don't understand.
That said I think Aion has enough difference in it's combat and art style and level progression to feel fresh.
Um, no. I am not stupid, I'm not a fan boy, I'm non-bias. You are most certainly biased--you just can't see it. I want another good mmo and Aion has not shown me anything that makes me want to play it. Fair enough. Many players are just experienced. You say "experienced", I say "jaded" or "burned out". If this is like your first or second mmo you might just do flips at the sight of Aion. This is far from my first or second MMO. Others who have played Lotro, wow, Guild Wars, warhammer, aoc etc might feel the same way I do. Or they might not if they don't carry MMO baggage wih them. I stick with wow because out of them all, it's just a better game. "Better" is subjective and it depends on what you are refrring to. For example, does WoW have more content? Sure, after 5 years WoW and multiple, paid expansions it certainly does. Does that it make it "better" overall than a new game? Not necessarily. I want another mmo to prove otherwise. I honestly do. Ands that's fine, but saying that Aion is the same as WoW is being disingenuous.

Wait a sec. Do you mean to say that you've only read about Aion and haven't tried it yet, but yet continue to post your opinion about it?

How much time have you dedicated to each game? Owning productive guilds, I get the same feedback from my buddies. We all eventually leave the game of the hour and go back to wow. The reason why every game is being compared to wow is because we do this. We play the current game being advertised for a month and then go back to our level 80 character in wow. Perhaps my expectations are far greater than some, perhaps others share my view. A LOT of people leave the game of the hour and return to wow. This isn't an opinion, this can be summed up in simple numbers.
Most of us here complaining about Aion will buy the damn game anyway. If you are posting about it, chances are you are interested. The issue I have with Aion is that I know it won't last long and that is what pisses me off. Guild Wars was a great game that did perhaps better than any real mmo I've played besides wow. One thing arena did was not create a "real" mmorpg but a pvp and instance based world for casual gamers. You level to 20 and you feel as if you've gotten your feel of the game, you move on. Games like Aion are subscription based and have every intent to have your full attention distracted from other mmos. For the most part, I doubt Aion will do this for me and many other players.
U know what, even if it is the same, it is going to be the same game with different people, thats enough for me just for starters. I loved W.O.W for awhile until I realized that so many people bought gold and that Item linking was a national past-time lol.
What I think is funny that people come with the argument wow has this wow has that it uberl33t. When Wow first came out it had one raid, and the only pvp was open world with no meaning.
Give Aion 5 years, and 2 expansions, then come back. Jesus did all these people just start playing MMOs?

Kinda feels that way, doesn't it?

I agree OP, it is .... LESS of the same. Where is my flying mount? Where is my mount? Where is my underwater world? Where is my seamless open world with NO invisible walls? Where are my extremely polished scripted RAid bosses with reactive phases. "Get out of that fire" and "please heal me in that pot " Where is my ladder based PvP competition? My beautfiul and extremely crafted/polished Battlegrounds? Where is my changing world in phasing? The destructable buildings and mounted tank combat? My dual specs? Where is ... the game? I guess it hides deep in the pockets of some Korean bank account.
I dunno if you were being sarcastic, but everything you just mentioned is what broke the game to me. Flying mount removed the thrill of open RvR. WoW always had invisible walls, guess you never bumped into them. Scripted raid bosses? Those are FREAKING EASY, scripted fight are easy mode of raiding. Ladder based pvp is broken because of powerful team combinaision, no real choice. Vehicle combat is horrible, worst thing they implemented so far (other than flying mounts). World phasing seperates player while in the same zone, I disliked it since some people would use that to flee from me.
Duel spec is the only thing I'll agree upon.
Blizzard catered to the cowards and the weak when they gave those new features. Raid bosses are now freaking easy, it's just learning how to beat him, and then rinse and repeat. Flying mount, vehicles, BGs, etc... are all coward tools not to be fighting one on one.
Doesn't change the fact that both game are extremely different, and that WoW does not necesserily bring what someone is looking for.
Seconded, and the reason for my sig below.
Oh, and one more thing you forgot: Motorcycles!
I'm not sure about the whole catering to the cowards and the weak statement. But, I will go as far as definitely lazy and simplified, which is what happens to just about anything for it to cater to the mainstream. It's no secret that society is becoming more and more filled with lazy, spoiled, whiner babies that need everything handed to them and have totally lost all ability or desire to achieve. This is not to say that all WoW players are that way, but the game has been completely simplified in regards to what it once was and that's not even debatable, and hence, a major contributing factor as to why I left.
In addition, I believe the above to be the main reason why there are several up in arms about the so-called Korean grind aspect of Aion. And don't give me this crap about, "well I only have a limited amount of time to play", cause I myself am a victim of that reality. Oh, you can't spend as much time playing and are therefore out-leveled by Joe Blow or maybe you don't have all that shiny/glowing gear yet that Jane Smith has, big deal IMO, it'll come. So what if it takes you a bit longer to achieve those things, just enjoy the ride. That is the tool that gaming has become for me, imagine that concept.
On the other side of things, if you can't find any enjoyment out of a game without instant gratification and needing the best gear, then maybe you may want to reflect on how you fit into that group of people described above

Here you go kid:
uk.pc.ign.com/articles/985/985368p1.html
Thing is you people seem to enjoy WoW. So why quit (or even think of quitting) a game you have fun playing?
Many people are bored / tired of WoW or sick of its retarded PvP including me.

Just wanted to note, as irrelavant as it is, that both Russia and India are located in Aisa.
*edit* my quoting got jacked up some how...
Thanks for that post I genuinely LOL!! :-)
I don't have to get certain gear just to pvp and clutting my bank up with armor and weapons. so everyone has their opion on what makes them want or not want to play aion... but judging aion on races is like judging food by looking at it and not tasting it.
playing:Aion, shot online.
waiting for: Terra
Used to play:wow,EQ,EQ2,Rf Online, lineage II,Raganoke online.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7

That's a joke...right?
Oh, btw...not directing this at anyone in particular, but I sure do wish you retards would quit quoting entire walls of text.
Katsma is Lithuanian for 'he who drinks used douche fluid'.
Even if a game was exactly like WoW. It could still be better than WoW. A game doesn't need new features to be better. I think that's what a lot of people don't understand.
That said I think Aion has enough difference in it's combat and art style and level progression to feel fresh.

I LOVE this thread.
