it probably will to be honest, but thats cool cuz I will still enjoy this game.
People thought the same way when EQ1 was king, although i really could care less about playerbase numbers. As long as it has a solid playerbase and my server has a good number, i'll enjoy it and play it just like I do FFXI, which doesnt have WoW numbers either ^^. Besides when you start getting WoW numbers all the douche bags come outta the wood work and invade the game and make it worse for everyone. =
I have to agree that I wouldn't want this to compete with WoW's numbers. That means catering to a much younger crowd (why do you think WoW has a 12-yr-old stigma to it?). WoW is designed to hand-hold the player through everything, make it easy to accomplish anything, low risk, no fear of hurting little Johnny's feelings and/or ego, and to keep stringing the players along with the carrot of uber gear instead of instilling a real sense of accomplishment. No thanks.

Pretty much, let the douche bags have wow, i could care less. As long as we have a good community on ours. Well said.
That was one of the reasons i liked ffxi so much, the community in majority was pretty mature.

Just joking Forum been quiet today so had to spark something.
Well you probably are right though...and that is a good thing. The WOW community is one of the worst. Granted, not all of them are jerk holes, but its a high percentage.
I think of WOW like a cheesy wizard spell from one of those low budget movies... the legions of d-bags have been trapped inside to keep the world safe from their asshattery.
I am right with you all - I could care less if FFXIV reaches WoW proportions. Would rather it didn't. as I keep repeating myself over and over again in various forums, Quantity =/= Quality.
We can carry out our front line battles in the Aion forum, lol, they are the cannon foughter! ~ and our main aly in fighting the Wo_***(censored) coup d'e`tat!
No disrespect to Aion fans btw... as I will invest time in that game as well, and just maybe, get to pull off 2 mmo's at once next year. I like those odds!
I have a fusion reactor full of optimism. =D
(how is that for all you bitter/depressed/jaded/angry/whateverz negative gam0rz)...
Wow I just realized that since the new system is to make it easier for more casual gamers to play we could end up with a surge of Douches playing online, hopefully there wont be anything for them to exploit.

; ; grr,i was going to say ,Blizzard couldn't think of ONE creative piece of content to put in to WOW,that they did not copy from someone else,Square has created more unique ideas than WOW could possibly do in 50 years.Even when FFXI closes down,WOW will have never done anything to surpass FFXI other than subscriptions, wel land bragging about making the cheapest form of content a designer could make>>>>instances pfft ,i could make a hundred instances in a month.
I just read that Gamingbiz article and WOW has like 4600 staff but where it matters the most it shows.Only about 120 actual game working employees and about 1 gm per 10 servers.Blizzard is part of a giant that is known for WASTING money so go figure they are also a bigtime waste of money.I guess when you try to launch in so many areas of the world and try to break some of their laws in doing so,you need to carry a large staff of lawyers.

i dont get why ppl are still not bored with WoW, i mean cmon
ok, i admit they are one of the best around 2004-2007ish, but with so much developers releasing new MMOs, i think WoW's days are numbered
i used to go crazy about WoW as well, and i think WoW should still be good even now if it weren't for Blizzard spoon-feeding the users with ridiculous "not-easy-enough" content
while i personally only taste FFXI for around 3-4 months ( before my friends bragging about how good WoW was back then ) i still think that FFXI is better in any aspect than WoW

Still if it was a real topic who cares till there will be a mature pve community I would 1000x be happier then playing in wow's childish community.
