I say sorcerer because they have distance, but if someone sneaks up on them like an assassin, it is over.

  • Templars are hard to kill,  at endgame they are almost impossible to kill if they have healers... using a 2h they can put out a decent amount of dmg.

Aion is more about group pvp and RvR, i think they've done a good job balancing each class as to their role in RvR and it will always be rock>paper>scissors>rock in the rare situations you have a 1v1.

Its too bad open beta was so short and had a lvl cap of 30.  I think its way too early to pick one class over the other at end game. I thought all the classes were well balanced (at least through lvl 12).  Each with its advantages and disadvantages. NCSoft has done a good job here and Im glad they've had a year to polish it for the NA release.

I still havent decided which class to roll at launch.  We will definately see mages leveling up faster than average the first couple of days but the other base classes definately come into their own after lvl 10.

Now if you can find someone with Closed Beta time and if the NDA has been lifted I would love to hear what they have to say about end game balance.

That's what I like about the game, no one class has a disadvantage, but the whole group may have one. It makes the PvP more fun and more team orientated which is what an MMO is designed to do. 1 one 1 PvP is such an outdated concept.

Yes, assassin are great, one on one, but this game is more about group vs group so assassins aren't going to be on top. If we're speaking 1 on 1, i'd either have to say Gladiator or Chanter.

Not true, actually: If you read posts by 50 Korean players who were into AP farming, then sorcs and assassins gain AP much more efficiently solo than in a group, since they have the best 1v1/escape abilities. The highest ranked classes consist mostly of assassins, sorcs and rangers ( in that order ) on KAion. Classes that rely on groups to be effective are the least represented (especially Spirit Master) .

It's mostly to blame on how the system works: EQ2 had a similar problem with scout classes, since they could stealth and merely gank their way to success as their PvP advancement system functioned similarly where NOT dying was key.

This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.

You maybe right but i'm not talking about Abyss solo. Usually you would come across a group. I'm talking more about a duel/arena. It also has alot to do with if you're actually good with your class or not, strategizing your skills/spells orderly.

Fighting in abyss solo and dueling or very different because most of the time in abyss, you're not ready, usually always ambushed but with duel, you're prepared and know what to do already.

I know dueling is not important but in a way, it prepares you for abyss.
