Comparison to Lineage II?

F4ythiF4ythi Member Posts: 30

Alot of the reviews and comments I've seen about AION has been comparisons between AION, WoW, WAR and AoC. Can anyone from beta just give me an idea of how it compares to NCSoft's other game, Lineage II? I played probably 2+ years of L2 in the past and loved it. It was pretty grindy and the quests offered little but I enjoyed the combat, exploring the world and sinking time into crafting.

Anyways, in terms of leveling (duration it takes to level), crafting and PvP, how does it compare? I'm hoping AION will be my home for a while, looking for an involved game that takes time to level, craft and such. Lately, most western mmos have been a dissapointment to me. They seem too casual... leveling is so quick and then there's nothing at endgame to enjoy. Same with crafting, I want to spend time getting my skill up there like FFXI and L2.

Thanks in advance.

Aion's leveling system is difficult, it isn't going to be nearly as easy as leveling in WoW. A lot of engaging PvP, and the combat is fast pace as usual.

    Thanks in advance.

mm aion look is standard mmo fare looks good, control some feel its clunky they love it once in pvp

every player have plenty of time to react yes YOU SAW RIGHT REACT to a foe attack,be it in the air on the floor etc

so no more mashing the keyboard to death.what i saw isnt grind its standard quest this you get in any AAA mmo

theres supposed to be raid etc we ll see.

mm you can call it lineage 3 ,in my view its better then lineage 2 (on the short term)

but i wouldnt be surprised to see more player in l2 in 6 month

we ll see ncwest is responsible for american lunch but the game still come from korea how far can ncwest go nobody know

i do hope the leech is very long for aion cause it could be the mmo all gamer have been waiting for

so they can finally let wow eat some dust on thew shewlf for a change (asnt happened since wow lunch god wow must be tired )

Thats good. I find that WoW was way too easy. It took me about a month to hit 70 (I started playing in BC) which is a shame. I thought they did a great job making Azeroth, but it was unfortunate that I didn't get to spend much time in it :(. IMO, one of the best parts of an mmo is leveling up and exploring with your friends, and its a shame that MMO's are becoming easier to level in so I welcome a difficult leveling system. There should be a penalty to death besides going to a home point or being charge a measly ammount of money.

Aion's death penalty is that you loose experience if you die. Also, Aion's level cap, it isn't harder than FFXI or Lineage II, but like I said, it is a bit of a challenge. However, the first few levels move pretty quickly, but as you get into the late teens, the pace picks up pretty fast.

I think the leveling is comparable to when wow was first released. It is not anywhere near as difficult to level in Aion as it was in Lineage 2. And the penalty for pvp death in Aion is 1 kinah (adena) and possibly some abyss points. If it is a pve death then the monetary amount will be much higher with no abyss point loss.

Aion is not at the difficulty that Lineage 2 was. Even with the changes in Lineage 2, I think that Aion will not be a difficult to level in at the higher levels.

One person is our legion, who played china aion was able to get to lvl 30 in about 1 and a half days. Or essentaily by the end of the second day of open beta was lvl 30. Of course that is because he played hardcore "all out" and knew the game well enough to know where to go for everything. But you get the idea.

To further answer your question, the pvp is as fast paced as L2, the leveling is as I already said, and the crafting, in my opinion is far better than L2 as L2 was highly annoying in that regard.

I am going to be crafting in Aion as opposed to me deploring the tedious nature of L2's crafting system. So, if you enjoyed that aspect of L2 you might find Aion's crafting a bit easy. Don't know you will have to see for yourself.

I played L2 for a little over 4 years just as an fyi. Personally I wish Aion's leveling was as long as original L2 but I'm sure I'm in the minority there ; )

In PvE at level 26, I died and lost 40k kinah. But, in PvP, you just lose abyss points. Kinda sad, but at the same time, more competitive.

I don't mind the pvp penalty as abyss points will have more meaning in the long run with the perks one can get with them.

I agree with you there, I wish leveling took longer. Like I said, I like exploring and and spending the time leveling, gives someone a sense of accomplishment after. Plus really, whats the point of having leveling so easy, they make these low level zones, people spend a couple hours in it and move on and really there is no reason to go back. The zones would get alot more use with longer leveling. An aspect of FFXI that I liked was that leveling was spread all over the place. You could be outside the starting town, go in a cave and find level 60 monsters. The high level content was more spread out, making the world feel more alive.

I think that may be one of the reasons I became so bored of WoW. All of the high level content (back when I was in BC), was all located in that burning crusade world. Azeroth was just left to become nothing more than a stepping stone.

I did enjoy crafting in L2, even though it was tedious getting the materials and annoying waiting for mana to craft but it was rewarding for the effort that was put into it.
