Is this picture worth 1,000 words?

in Aion

 SteelSeries, recently held a contest on Facebook where Aion players were encouraged to "Enter your Aion Beauties to our fan photo album to win major prizes including Aion QcK Gaming Surfaces signed by the lead designer of Aion, Young Chan Jee."

The contest received hundreds of submissions. This was the winner:

Without even seeing any of the other screenshots - how do you guys feel about the winning entry. (I did not doctor or edit the screenshot in any way).

By the way, if you've never heard of SteelSeries . . . this is how their fan page describes them:  "SteelSeries is the leading manufacturer of professional gaming gear."

     If that picture won there was some trick behind it, i mean, this game allows for an astonishing graphic quality, but that picture is just awfull, it looks like a 2001 game.

    Well, they announced the name of the person who won, and presented this as the winning screenshot. So, as far as I know, this is legit.

    It looks like Aion, but the computer used to take the picture was crappy.

    Pretty lame...would love to see the other entries if that screenshot actually won.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

    I agree, it could of should of been taken with higher graphic settings. Nice angle though.

    It is a bad shot when compared to others I have seen from Aion, the avatar is meh, the angle is not much better but some what intresting and the engine settings where way to low or at least it seems that way based on what I have seen in CB and OB as well as other shots. Not the worse shot I have ever seen dont get me wrong but the best out of how many? I know nothing abot the other submisions.

    Basically, all you have to do is go to Facebook and become a fan of SteelSeries to see the other entries on their Fan Photos page.

    The funny thing is that SteelSeries is getting blasted for picking this screenshot. Most people are saying that her face is covered and the quality of the pic is so way too low. After all, this was billed as a "beauty contest". There were hundreds of entries, and nearly all of them were better than this one. 

    I honestly think they're up to something. I just can not believe that this was the winner. The comments being made are hilarious.

    Hmm. Quality is low, but maybe guys from SteelSeries had to take rig of the all participants in to the account. Also not everyone has rig to run Aion at top settings. So, if man overlook the quality of the picture and look only at contest,then it's actually nice screen.

    Im not sure what your surprised about, every screenshot Ive ever seen, every movie Ive watched, even played the game myself in beta looks like this screenshot.  Overly bright washed out watercolored models and textures. 

    You can crank the graphics up to 10 and this game still looks like a sad cartoon to me.  Not sure why they went for the look they did in this game.  They cleary had talented artists and developers. But very poor use of shading and lighting, mostly everthing Ive seen is too bright (overexposed) and washed out.   I can pick an AION screenshot out of a 100 mixed thumbnails of various games because its going to the one that looks like your brightness knob got turned to 10 and snapped off.

     It might not be the quality of the shot they were looking at, but the demure pose that appealed to them. Kind of an Asian thing ya know?

    Even my male Cleric is much prettier than the winner of that 'contest'.
