Hackfall

skubaskuba Member UncommonPosts: 57

I had a such great time playing the Darkfall till yesterday...

Everything in the game works fine: crafting, skill leveling, clan system, house system, quests, etc...Darkfall even got the roleplay that was missing since UO.

Except the PvP... no, i'm not complaining about the unbalancing of spells and the archery. The game is really balanced and theres no restriction, so you "can be" a "mage" and a "archer" at the same time and not complaing about "OH MAGE PWNS, ARCHER SUX, MELEE MEHH.."

So, what is the problem?

HACKS.

Its just the yesterday episode:

I was with my friend in the middle of nowhere, just relaxing to get some stamina, when suddenly someone just "pops" in our front and took my horse and *pop* disappeared. Just like that.

Other day in my clan city, 4 guys *pops* inside our clan city and they start to kill everyone in 60 seconds. They just grab our back and theres nothing you can do.

Weird things like those I told happened before, and I was like "Meh, just lagging or there is some problem with my PC.. whatever".

So those things started to happen oftenly, and I was getting really upset about the game. So I started to looking for hacks, just to see if it was true or I was just complaining or whatever it is.

I found it in the 1st atempt (Just google "damn cheaters darkfall").

My friend reported, like one hundred times, and the GM just ignored his reports

its so sad, the game is awesome but doesn't have any protection. The Darkfall Devs are the most lazy bastards in the game industry. And the most important part of the game (PvP) is corrupted by the hacks.

So if you want to have some fun with your friends, killing mobs, crafting, rising skills and killing some players like in UO (offcourse you will only abble to have some real pvp without the "damn cheaters") the game is perfect for you, but everyday you will got fucked up by some "damn cheater".... btw for those who don't know, the game is like 99% client-side, an X-Crap, FagShield or even a GayGuard would keep some lame cheaters away from the game....

I've just got to get it off my chest and sorry for my bad english....

and, guess what? I'm opening Darkfall launcher right now.... fuck

I barely see hackers these days. Maybe because I am still on EU server, the newer one probably has more hackers

  • ItinerantItinerant Member UncommonPosts: 89

I returned to the game. I have a recent post called Radar.

I resubbed after a break, and in the first few daysI noticed radar hacks. I would be inside a building hiding under the stairs. Quiet, no sound, resting. I would have hackers running in at me, with a spell already loaded, and come around the corner blasting knowing without a doubt where i was without any line of sight.

This game has so much potential, were it not for the exploiting of hacks. Makes me sad to see FFA full loot games go this way.

-btw I picked up UO:SE in wal-mart for 20$ back in around 98'-99'

so dont even bother to troll about FFA, full loot, sandbox style games.

  • ItinerantItinerant Member UncommonPosts: 89

Not to mention that I have the one of the biggest current EU alliances, in a vent recording, talking about using it and kicking a guy out of  clan for not agreeing with its use.

Will not post it here, since it's been deleted before.

But having 10 guys shout down at 1 legitamite player, kicking him from clan, and continuing with thier progresion is pretty gamebreaking. They now own about 90% of the hamlets/cities in the southeastern game on EU. And most of those cities, and all of those hamlets are nothing more then bindstone/farms for those clans. They are nearly unused, and undefended, making them ghost towns and useless.

  • ZarynterkZarynterk Member UncommonPosts: 398

And what is pathetic, you guys keep paying a monthly fee to get pwned by cheaters lol... Isnt it obvious, the devs could care less about hacks....if they did it wouldnt even be an issue like every other major mmo out there.

  • ItinerantItinerant Member UncommonPosts: 89

Don't go pointing as us. We gave it a shot and are unsatisfied. MMO's are hit and miss.

Me? I resubbed, its only 15$ chump change. But it was a waste.

Live and learn from your own mistakes.

  • ZarynterkZarynterk Member UncommonPosts: 398

Hey i understand, kudos for giving it a shot...but i gotta tell ya, if I ever played that game, and got hack killed more than once...it would be over. Any company that allows that kind of sh*t to go on in their game, would be done in my book. Just speaks to their laziness, and overall sh*tty handling of business.

    image

  • daarcodaarco Member UncommonPosts: 4,276

Guess what! Some guy run into me and me friends and killed us all...without using any hacks! Sometimes i wish they would use that so i could blaim something for me loosing a fight!

Anyway....i think AV is working on it. Its kinda stupid to belive AV is doing nothing. Like all other things, it takes time.

And i have not seen any hackers. And i get my mount stolen all the time by professionals : (

Even before the game launch several posters claimed that DF will be full of hacks, since AV left too much client-side, making for example speed-hacks and radar a child's play to implement. This, obviously, got shouted down by rabid DF fanboys.

The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

What you described is people using the hacking software available, but using the detectable server side parts of the hack.  Those guys will get banned because they are morons.

What is worse is the ones who use the more undetectable hacks for that little bit of unfair advantage like wallhack and radar hack.

Aventurine does ban them though.  I know 2 of the 5 i've reported have been banned.  In april they mass banned 279 players, and i'm sure they will do another round of bannings.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it Hackfall, but hacking is a problem just like every other game.  Only in this game the negatives from being on the other end of a hack are much higher.

Still in the last 2 weeks i've only seen 1 hacker and was doing like what you described.  He was banned 2 days later because I fraps'ed him teleporting around our clan city and sticking to people's backs.  Just roll with fraps ready to go.

ROFLMAO, yep do the devs job for them because they are either too lazy or too inept to stop the hacking.

I don't go into twitch games especially with FRAPS loaded to slow me down to do the devs job. I play games for fun not to perform someone else's job for them.

Keep doing their work and paying them for crap, they sure seem more then able to deliver it to all you failbots.

OP, please, dont let the hacker ruin your darkfall for you. Go download fraps and once you see someone hacking, active fraps, make a youtube video and post it the the devs. If we get enough DF fraps users, all the hackers will start to fear us unteal DF devs find something to defeat the hackers without our help.

Fraps is really easy to use so any DF players should get one.

Its an indie company that did something that no other mmorpg did before. They even had to build their own engine. They are not lazy at all with 30 devs only and at the beggining, they was only 1 devs or should i say he was.

The land is big like no other mmorpg, 10 000 players in one server, no instance, 100 vs 100 pvp is possible. So i dont think the DF devs are lazy. I even think that the wow devs are more lazy because look at how much devs they have when you open the wow book and check the dev list.

Also, its not easy to make an mmorpg like you think and make it popular and payable, alive at the same time. There are too much mmorpg dead already or free and DF is still alive and i believe it will remain alive for ever as long that we still got sandbox pvp fans out there.

DF is still a paid beta so be patient. Eve online had his hard time too and DF had become a paid beta it had been 7 months only. Give this niche game a chance. and you will see what we will get soon.

If they was lazy, i think they would do like us, waste more time on the forum rather then working.

    Okay, several points....

The land is no bigger then DnL so that is non-sequitor

They developed a crap engine and there is still some question about how much was developed and how much was "borrowed"

Is the game a game or a beta? I can't tell since you call it both even after 7 months.

If the game was so good then why are all of you here being like "lazy devs" and not in this best game of all time playing it?

The game is NOT popular and payable <== whatever that means.

How about you list all the dead MMORPG's and while you are at it list the reasons that DnF will last forever as you state. The way you make it sound it is the first sandbox PvP game and there was never one before. Tell that to several hundred thousand players of Eve. A number of subs that DnF will NEVER have a tenth of before it closes its doors.

I mean really people, it is an ok game but it is not the second coming and as soon as something the least bit better comes online most of you that are still around will jump ship. Hell many of you are already over on the MO board singing the praises of SV. Talk about a dichotomy.

I never played DnL but DarkFalls ladscape isnt dynamically but everthing has been placed and every location is unique and not comparable to any other location.

Nothing was "borrowed" , they did the engine from scratch, the engine is scalable, works with newest server technologie, shards can be added on the fly (proofed pretty fast after launch they had to update hardware because they didnt thought so many players would be intrested in Darkfall) and supports sandbox style large battles.
Is the game a game or a beta? I can't tell since you call it both even after 7 months.
I enjoy the game from after 3 weeks into launch and dont miss anything. It has what i was expecting and what was told in various jouranals fror everyone to read..i am a happy cutomer since 6+ months now and doesn't look like i like to touch any other game..so much i am into Darkfall and its amazing world.
If the game was so good then why are all of you here being like "lazy devs" and not in this best game of all time playing it?
Darkfall has many haters , dunno why people fear it that much but they spend much time here misleading others and if i am not in game or at work or not sleeping i have to correct the excessive negative opinions here voiced by haters of which a minority even played the game.
The game is NOT popular and payable <== whatever that means.
It is popular for folks who know what means  MMORPG gaming ;) I meet vets from the best games that existed in the past in game, UO, SWG Pre CU, DAoC, AC.

Who cares about numbers if there is the best game to play right now,  i never looked for numbers in my decision which MMO i should sub and i ended up having played the best and missed the worst.
I mean really people, it is an ok game but it is not the second coming and as soon as something the least bit better comes online most of you that are still around will jump ship. Hell many of you are already over on the MO board singing the praises of SV. Talk about a dichotomy.
Darkfall sets the bar high for me and wanting to look for another MMO and i doubt a MMORPG anytime soon will offer what DFO  offers. MO has to go a loooong way to meet DFO standard.

I can harbor no ill will towards Darkfall.

Bought a long term sub (3 or 6months), quit the game arbitrarily and they refunded my money quick.

I may go back after they get things worked out.

The hacks in darkfall are abundant, that is the reason I dont play anymore. Well that and the company behind darkfall.

They left tons and tons of exploitable mobs in the games for quite awhile. They actually just removed some, but not all of them. With the uber skill gain patch. When I say exploitable, I meant to say the mobs just stand still and let you kill them at will. Sometimes you didn't have to do anything, the mobs killed each other. I could name 6 exploitable camps off, just on the rubi island. Only 2 of those remain, but the fact is they still remain. They didn't actually fix the spawn camp, they just removed it. So they left those camps up for how many months on the EU server and over a month in NA server. Just to remove them hehe...

Grrrreat game with tons of potential. Sadly a terrible company is running the show.

    I feel your pain.

There is a recent surge in that pop in, steal a mount, teleport/-radar hack that seems to be used.

Having played since beta, to EU then NA, I have had wonderful success in results to my /gm_reports.     To be fair, you need to remember that because a player(s) is not immeidately banned, does not mean they are not being watched, and will be at some point.    Also to be fair, it is often difficult to detect hacks, but not as impossible as the hackers have convinced themselves of.    It only really takes enough reports and observations from the GM(s) unless their own detection devices identify it first.

I can understand any ones frustration on this issue, but there is action and has been a reduction in cheating; just that different players have different levels of tolerance and patience, which is understandable.

hackers flock to games like darkfall and eve because they know theyre cheating makes you all the angrier when you get killed by a hacker.  at least eve does a good job of blocking intrusions although good luck catching up in the skill learning curves in that game to be able to hold your own vs the fleets of 5 year rats ugh.

Use the GM Report function.  What I have seen with most every developer company (with the exception for the Shadowbane developers), developers never tell the public that they have fixed hacks.  Think of it this way, the last iPhone update was hacked in 1 day flat.  If an OS can be hacked in 1 day then a game would be much quicker.  You can teleport hack (and sometimes worse) in just about any game out there.  Its a constant neverending battle of bans and patches.  That one website with hack programs that I will not talk about, has stuff for multiple games, not just Darkfall.  They make money off of their stuff too.

The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.
