Yes they are going to go from a full sub/ micro-transaction model to free to play in a year. That completely sounds believable I also think the Detroit Lions are gonna win the super bowl this year and John Mcain can still win.
Playing- Guild Wars 2, SWTOR SWTOR Referral Link Get a free Server Transfer and lots of other free stuff for your SWTOR account! Works for both new and previous players.
Within the next year, if Cryptic see's a big decline rate in subscriptions I wouldn't be surprised if they went to the full free to play model and add a lot more game changing gear in there online store for micro-transactions.
IMO, I feel the game will end up this way. I just don't see enough content or I should say not enough group content to keep guilds playing the game. Guilds make up a pretty good size of the MMO population and this game is designed more for solo play then group play.
I know my guild after only playing Champions Online for two weeks is leaving to play Aion which is more designed for guilds then solo play.
Well they are already making micro store thingy.. so I'm sure it will be. I don't think it will continue to do as well as they hope for but since they already have the store it will be easy for them to adjust their strategy.

Your reasoning makes no sense. Just because it has Micro Transactions doesn't mean it'll be easy to convert to F2P. City of Heroes has Micro Transactions and its NOT F2P. Also suddenly going F2P means they better be handing out a whole hell of a lot of perks to life time subscribers that paid 2 years worth of subs up front. They're covered despite what everyone seems to be speculating without any real knowledge. Games dont just go F2P because the Subs aren't WoW sized or they have a MT store. It would also not be easy to adjust their strategy the game's actual game play style doesn't revolve around anything of worth to make the store necessary for most players. What makes F2P cash mall games cash malls are the types of items and how they are actually necessary to keep up.
Take Atlantica Online for instance. While its not really necessary to use the cash shop you pretty much realize that if you want to be able to economically keep up and be able to craft and gain xp at a decent rate you have to use the cash shop. Craft supplies for the better items are next to eimpossible to get in large quantities outside of the cash shop, xp scrolls? Only pretty much on the cash shop. Mounts? You want any of the interesting mounts the best way is through the cash shop infact unless someone gets an extra and sells it its the only way you can get some mounts.
CO would have to completely restructure their game much like DDO is having to do major reconstruction to go F2P with cash shop or Sub model. They'd probably have to major NERF crafting since Crafting makes the Best items pretty much in the game once your each Tier 3 crafting.
He pretty much quit making sense as soon as he decided that CO wasn't a good game for him. Now he pretty much just talks crap about anything that isn't cute and Asian.
1) Lack of content 2) to easy to level, lots of people are already hitting the level cap and the game has only been out a few weeks 3) very little group content, which is causing guilds to leave. 4) no end game, once you hit 40 there is really nothing else to do 5) PvP mini games get boring quick, especially with the unbalanced powers atm.
1-4 should be addressed in Blood Moon content patch being released next month.

Yes I predict CO will become free to play the day Sarah Palin is sworn into office of President of the United States of America.

Biggest issues Cryptic has right now
1) Lack of content
2) to easy to level, lots of people are already hitting the level cap and the game has only been out a few weeks
3) very little group content, which is causing guilds to leave.
4) no end game, once you hit 40 there is really nothing else to do

1. Stupid poll that cannot be answered without a crystal ball.
2. Maybe is one word.
