Thinking about coming back, few questions

After getting a new computer, I went back to WAR for a bit, found my server to be pretty desolate and I ended up having some technical problems that I didn't have before. Mind you, this was roughly 8 months ago.

Now with the server consolidation, and the new zones, I am just curious to ask if the interface lag has been fixed?

I don't think anyone who post here actually plays the game...

But to answer your question, I have minor issues with lag especially with large amounts of players onscreen but no worse then any other MMO to be honest. I also play from Germany on U.S. servers so I am at that disadvantage also. I had far worse lag in the Aion beta TBH.

They changed the way latency is handled client/server at patch 1.3.1 what's funny is they released a preview of that patch 3 weeks after 1.30b and they had to pull it 3 days after, because everyone was upset. That said let me explain.

Previously latency was synched to frame rate, so the higher the latency from the server (due to many people in one spot) the lower your frame rate was. Basically it was an even fraction of your original latency/frame rate ratio.

    For example:

    75ms at 60fps
    would equal to
    150ms at 30fps

And so on, so you can imagine what would happen at 300ms+, but it was fair to everyone. Now that the frame rate is not synched to latency if you have a good system you still get good frame rates but the game is not synched.

    75ms at 60fps
    would equal to
    150ms at 60fps

Problem is sometimes because it's not linked you can see your HP bar go from 100% to 0% in one second. It's a nightmare for healers that play wack-a-mole.

Again Mythic took the easiest way to help frame rate at the expense of the player experience.

How do other games handle lag as it is not specific to WAR. It does not seem such a problem in other MMOs, why can't Mythic just copy the way others do it !?!

Its sad to see a good game like this to be dying cause of some technical problem :-(

Although for me GOA killed the game a long time ago with thier short sighted server mergers.

i started a 10 day trial just to see if certain technical things were fixed,  and yep they were. So i resubbed and am having fun in Tier 1 ORVR, plenty of players there, haven't hit the scenarios yet, I still need to go through the main website and begin the draconian process of moving characters from old servers.

Knights of the Blazing Sun weren't in the game last time I played, rolled one and running around with him now.

I have been playing WAR quite a bit recently... with all the whiners gone Pheonix Throne RvR has been smoother then a babies bottom. No lag, constant action this is how a game should be... good luck to all those who left but as for me, I will be staying to fight these wonderful battles.
