Good game - EvE meets Fallout

acoloradoacolorado Member Posts: 22

Playing the pre-release head start and am really enjoying this one. The gameplay is terrific.

The crafting in this is deeper than any other MMO save Eve i think. It has a nice open-ended game world which seems about as large as the WoW world. Quests are standard, but well written and there are quite a variety.

Graphics are pretty good - not AoC but not nearly as bad as the people on here are claiming. Check the screenshots for yourself. So far the devs are doing great with bug fixing and it sounds like extra content should roll out pretty consistently after lauch. There are some lag issues but hopefully they will have that sorted by launch.

Love the gameworld - very immersive. I think this will replace my EvE account.

Agreed, and glad to see some folks are enjoying it besides me.

The EVE comparison is a good one, though I'd say it also has quite a lot in common with early SWG.  Great to have a non-linear game, and a huge one to boot.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves and start some big Hype machine that will ultimately let most new players down.

I would go as far as saying it has a Pre-CU feel in a fallout setting.

It has no resemblence of Fallout or Eve's gameplay mechanics.

The Fps combat is years behind Fallout and it can't touch the depth of features EvE has (yet).

What I will say is FE is a really good game, If your looking for a sandbox game with more of a pve quest focus in a post apoc setting give FE a try.

    PLaying: EvE, Ryzom

    Waiting For: Earthrise, Perpetuum

No one's hyping anything, merely expressing appreciation for the game.  If anything, FE is over the heads of most new players because they won't have the patience or the attention span to learn a game that doesn't hold their hand.

And that's perfectly ok, I'm just happy it got made.  If my 'hype' contributes to it gaining a few subs and remaining available for me to play, I guess I'm guilty as charged.

Nothing wrong with being excited for the game. I purchased my copy as well and I love the game.

I just don't want to give people the wrong impression and start a bunch of FE flame posts because someone though this game was like Fallout 3.

FE is an awesome game but really only borrows Fallouts setting and honestly has more in common with early Pre-CU than Eve. Unless your speaking of the real time crafting. real time crafting is the only feature that's similar in Eve and FE.

I see great potential in FE, I purchased a box to support the devs and will resub once more optimizations and features are included.

Agreed on Fallout, the visuals/setting are the only thing they really have in common.

Regarding EVE, I think FE shares a general feel with that game that other mmo's lack, namely the ability to be and do basically anything you want. You can quest, but you don't have to, as you get xp/ap from harvesting, killing, etc.  The synergy of the crafting/combat game is pretty cool, like EVE.

It's got a ways to go, I think they released before they wanted to, but it's a fun game regardless, and I can't wait to see where it goes.

Me personally, I love the game too, it may be a little rough around the edges, but it is a game with huge potential, its a shame my other online buddies for 5 years are stuck in a mindless linear theme park mmo, I will not name the mmo and start a flame (lets just say it involves elves and dwarfs), its just a shame they are missing FE.

Unfortunately I am not pressuring them at all into this game and still believe it is a game that your either going to love or hate.

I am just glad that their are other players enjoying FE and much as me.

After reading posts FE has got me interested. I'm not looking for a WoW killer game, but something different to play. However I'm a casual player who does not want to spend my life tied to a game.

    1) Is FE casual friendly?

    2) I'm definitley not a new player, but what is in FE that makes the game so much more difficult?

    Thanks!

I would say the world is bigger then wow all together...and its all seamless..

Go from zanesville to oilville on foot..in the map they are really close but it takes a long time to go from one to another...even by horse that is alot faster then running it takes a bit of time...
