Hello friends,
Very keen on playing Fallen Earth, but would like to ask a couple questions about a build I had in mind first.
I am coming over from Dungeons & Dragons Online where I have been since its launch. Within that MMO I was very pleased with it's mechanics of rewarding everyone for doing their part, whether you played the tank class or the healer/buffer. Reward was given at the end to all players so that the Damage Per Second player was not always the Star of the Show.
Now I can see very plainly that Fallen Earth is not a cookie cutter class based system and that you can be a Jack-O-Many trades. I have reviewed the handy Character Planner Tool that allowed me to add pretend points into various stats to see what would happen, but no one can deny that if you go super Medic/Buffer your going to have to pay the piper in terms of your whoop-ass-ability.
My refined question is this, If I make an ultra-high quality healer/buffer in Fallen Earth, with every point distribution decision made during each level going enthusiasticly toward the creation of a one stop heal/buff shop... will I be a player who is loved but ultimately gear & resource poor?
Will I have to depend on charity from other players? "Hey, thanks for the heals and buffs...you really saved the day...here, want this goody we found after the battle because no one else wants/needs it?" -gee thanks (looks down at hands holding greasy helmet)
Will I get a piece of the Experience Point Pie if I am in the back row at battles making sure every one is healed, loved and in perfect fighting form, or does all the EXP & Drops when dealing with PvE & PvP go to the jocks on the front lines & the snipers who actually killed the MOB?
Thank you for your kind replies.

This isn't a DIKU, drop your preconceptions.
You can build your toon with what ever skills you want him/her to have, and 95% of all gear is player crafted.

The OP has a point. How is xp assigned in a group?

Evenly, from what I have seen. Even people outside your group get full credit for doing any damage or buff/debuff ETC.. (Quest credit as well)
Like i said, drop your preconceptions (I dont say this to be rude), its just going to confuse you. This game is not anal about XP distribution.

Experience, and death toll (PvP 'experience'), is assigned evenly to the group members, regardless of involvement. I don't know what the top limit of group size is, but I know you can convert the group into a raid encounter. I, myself, have been in a 7 man group.
The only thing i know for sure is pistols is pricey. Melee is free.
Another question you should ask is "Is maxed out group buffer/healer that much better than a more versatile character."
I don't know the answer as I'm just up to 15 myself.

Honestly its a non issue I think. The crafter class shares the use of Int with the medic class so I'd suggest since you already have the points there become a crafter. Bullets and Bacon everyone needs them.
Besides as a dedicated medical person your going to be crafting medical supplies and subcomponants anyway, many of which scientists and other crafters need for thier crafting ie I bought from a player doc a impure antiseptic; to create an advanced flak vest for 15 blue chips, which I sold for 60. the economy really is functional.
