I'm predicting that Elyos will be Aion's Horde

MastaRyuMastaRyu Member Posts: 21

Am I right in thinking that most people will roll Asmodian more than Elyos.  The class select screen has "cooler" looking characters on the Asmodian side.    It seems to be the "prettier" race of the two.  Obviously anybody with half a brain can make an Elyos look cool, but I think just the different shades of skin, eye color, claws, and tattoos make the Asmodian more desirable.  Also, I've played both starting areas, and the Asmodians have much better environments and storyline.  So if so, will we see a race imbalance against the Elyos?

So far in the preselect that seems to be what's happening.

I played both starting areas and they seemed nigh identical to me. Just reskin cute little mob into cute little devil, et al.

I think the whole game will be flooded with WoW transplants. So good luck on either side.

Your title says other way around.

You're saying Asmos will be horde and Elyos will be alliance?

I think his reasoning might of been a little ambiguous, but I'm pretty sure he's saying Asmodians will be Alliance because they're more visually stunning or something.

I thought the general consensus was that Asmodians looked worse, the super mullet, claw foot, and smurf blue skin....Although the glowing red eyes are pretty damn cool and might be enough to sway someone to roll one.

In my opinion elyos chicks do look better, but asmodians can be badass and pretty at the sametime so like I said in a previous thread it probably appeals both type of players.

Like it has been said here, though, you can make an elyos to look badass if you know how to use the sliders or a cute asmodian character, but most people will not think throughout the whole character differentiation and pick the faction at the first glance in my opinion.

  • I went Elyos to start...played too many dark elves in my day to begin an Asmo just yet.

I've always played a character that generally has a more "light", "holy", or "good" aura about them.  I just can't bring myself to play an Asmodian.  Heck, that's even why my 2 characters are a Templar and a Cleric...

lock out system will keep the balance close.

I don't see such a split like WoW.  With no background to the game like WoW had, I can't see that happening.

Anyways, You can always rate one side more immature than the other. Just depends on the server and where people roll. Some servers, Elyos will be the "horde" side as you call it.  Others, not so much.  And on some, it will be nothing like that at all.

I notice that in most MMOs the race of choice tends to be the ugly, demonic, or evil race types.. Perhaps it has something to do with the way people tend to act or portray themselves over the internet as "badass".

Of course there are the exceptions but in WoW I must say the popular races were mostly Horde.

I tend to enjoy playing as the minority race whichever race that is. I like being outnumbered in PvP combat and I believe that the fewer the players around me the more that I can stand out amongst them.

You're kidding right? When WoW came out, on most if not all servers alliance outnumbered horde. It wasn't until blood elves  were introduced that people started to move over. If i remember correctly one server had a 1:5 ratio of horde to alliance.

Uh no...was actually quite the opposite and on most servers Alliance outnumbered the Horde.  May have changed though.  Haven't played WoW in some time.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

In CB it was around 50/50 actually on almost every poll... in OB i found more Elyos than Asmodian...

so please give us your proper reasoning and proof, rather than sprouting rubbish. i mean it's normal for a forum, but really .... you'd be better getting a job or contributing something useful to society instead.

Well wtf do you want him to do? Round his friends up to give you testimonials?  it's not like he said that's what people in general want to do.

why tell us his predictions and managing to mention WoW again, i mean FFS... i wonder if he watches the battle of waterloo on discovery channel and makes comparions with the French and Alliance. I mean that's about as much good as the whole point of this thread has done.

what is he derren brown?... even then he waited until after the lottery to give his winning prediction.

sprouting crap is what twitter is for...

I do believe that Undead was the Most popular race due to the racial ability. Alliance was the most popular faction I will give you that as Night Elves and Humans gathered the 2nd and 3rd most followers. But then both Orcs and Trolls were more popular than Gnomes and Dwarves. (My first character was a Dwarf of course.. 2nd was a Gnome, haha)

I like being rare... So I play as whatever I have to in order to stay in accordance with such a status.

The only reason i pick Elyos is because i can't stand the running animation of the Asmodians..

    na.aiononline.com/en/news/preselection-server-status.html

You can go sift through some of the explosion on Aionsource.com's forums as well (the largest non-official community for Aion) here: www.aionsource.com/forum/aion-discussion/

There's no question of "perception" here.  Since the pre-select opened today, it took nearly no time whatsoever for the in-place balancing locks to shut down character creation for asmodians on nearly every server (exceptions were the ones that hit their soft limits first).  A very short time ago, the limits were raised higher, and already as you can see in my first link, asmodians are shut down again, forcing players to either wait or roll Elyos/pick another server.  The argument's kinda over at this point, the facts are now facts.  Asmodians have proven far, far more popular than Elyos already.

Edit to add: The asmodians cut flips when they jump, where elyos do not.  Believe it or not, people have chosen asmo for that fact alone.  Plenty of other good reasons to make the alliance:horde comparison, much as I hate the WoW comparisons at all.
