Honestly the animations and detail of work that goes into Korean games is MUCH higher then western games.
The thing you need to ask yourself is: Do I like the Asian Grind?
That is the big issue with AION that will turn off most players...its the reason I wont be playing...but some people are ok with it.
I'm sure you will get replies saying "Oh my god, this game is awesome, Tilran is an idiot...he doesnt know grinding if it bit him in the butt" However I am fully prepared for those responses being so early into game Beta/Launch period. 09/19/2009 - Mark my words on this day 11:13am...AION will take a heavy dip in subs by 3 months time when people wear off the honeymoon phase of the game and get bored of the grindy mechanics.
The problem with people like yourself is that you would have never guessed it was an asian game if you didn't know it beforehand with the possible exception of the graphic style.
Here is the truth: Aion does not have the traditional asian grind.
If you honestly can't tell the difference between a quest focused game such as Aion and a traditional Asian game such as Lineage or Ragnarok Online, you need to open your eyes.
If you claim Aion is an Asian grind, then so is WoW, everquest 2, city of Heroes, Lotro and pretty much every other western mmorpg ever developed.
fail troll is fail troll Lineage, Lineage 2, Muonline and some others i cant remember right now that in the past made a huge success, maybe not around u neiborhood but sure make other ppl around the globe happy
Not trying to be a troll.the Asian style animations never did much for me though some westerners like it , i simply don't.I've tried a few f2p asian mmo's and have seen screen shots of other korean mmo's and they simply did nothing for me and thought they were horrible imitations.i was just wondering if aion is a little different and was more western in style than asian.anyways i wish aion luck,i'll be lurking to hear the reviews.good day
im sorry man about the people here but if we even smell that you are somewhat trollish we tend to rip into you like a pack of wolves on a dead carcass, once you learn how to sound more neutral im sure you wont have these problems but remember this don't cast something into its stereotype learn about it by reading up on the internet and watching vids of it on youtube then make your post or you will probably get riped into again.
on the other hand i dont think you have anything to worry about this game being a korean grinder with sucky animations they actualy did realy well with this game (not acting surprised i stray very close to being a fanboi for this game)
As i read the feedback of my original post and having had a few glasses of wine i'm reminded of the biblical phrase "can anything good have come from nazareth" well it worked in that situation.I'll wait and see,i hope my doubts will be proven wrong.

Aion has some pretty awesome animations, especially the Glad. What exactly don't you like about em? What is cooler then throwing your enemy in the air, jumping up and hitting him mid air? Well..I guess playing WoW doing that ridiculous spin move garbage is cool. . . . . . . .
Yes, there are quite a few solid titles that have come from Korea, Lineage, Lineage 2, Aion, Ragnarok online and in the near future Soul & Blade, C9 and Terra.
Korea has just suffered from the never ending stream of badly made F2P into he western market
dont know if its comon in asia but i saw a l2 video both side were waithing patiently in an arena style one behind the other and it was basicly last men standing but a nice version
saw one he was called rocky he stood there a long time before one finally downed him lol
i think mmorpg in asia as strong pvp because they play nicer .dont get me wrong they must have like a code or something but when fight start its insane
we never see that here its always backstabing etc
oh sometime you meet a gentlemen in wow he stop and make sure you saw him then fight start but its rare

The real question should be: Can a good solid game come out of the west now days? It has been a very long time since that happened.
there is truth to what you say
No there's not, it's just as stupid a statement as the OP's, and largely based on prejudice I suspect.
Right off the top of my head Sims 3 and Fallout 3 both sold millions of copies and were good solid fun games. The hype for Madden football every year far exceeds any other game in the US. Halo and Call of Duty are both US developers. etc., etc...
Inflammatory broad generalizations are a waste of time, and people will just call your BS anyway, so don't do it.
As someone else pointed out, no one would have any idea where Aion was developed just by playing it. It plays pretty much just like WOW or EQ2.
I've yet so see a good game come out of Asia. They all have cheesy animations and then there's the horrible translation and grammar issues. Is Aion any different for those that have played the beta?seriously... s
Lineage 2 was and to a certain extent still is an amazing game. Granted when it launched it didn't have the polish that, say, wow had but it had far more to offer than regular f2p games.

I enjoyed Lineage I/II for about 6 months each, if not for the huge grind I would have stayed longer with L2.
