Are you sure it was actually taken? With everything going on right now it wouldn't surprise me if the database might be chugging along extra slow and it may just not have recognized you canceled your character yet. I would try again a bit later and I bet you can recreate her.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

I'm praying to all the great spirits of Aion that that is why. I doubt it, though.
Classical names like one of the furies would be very popular, have to guard them by never leaving them open during periods like now of furious new character creation.
Someone got Achilles & Hercules on Friday which was a bit of a coup.

Indeed. I'm not going to play for quite some time just for that reason. My error - I thought that I would be safe during the 6 minute buffer period. I went a minute or two over. That was enough.
Not really anyones fault that you made your nickname available is it? :P I mean as soon as you went over the period it was made available for anyone if that is indeed the case you have no one else to blame but yourself.

I was able to grab the name Ender on two servers, and I'd be QQ'ing myself if I lost either of them!
Er.... EVE is located over that way ---------------------> (but trust me, that names taken in about 10K variants, doesn't score very high on the originality scale.

Harsh! But true. The Sci-Fi of Legolas and Gandalf?
Yes, like I said, odds are the data is messed up somehow with thousands of people smashing against servers. But remember, everyone, never, ever, ever, ever change your name at this point during a release. I would just try and create some character to save the name, ASAP, and then not play at all for a few weeks. I would rather wait longer to play a game I wanted to play than have a terrible experience because so many people are trying to play at once.
It seems like no company can handle a release, no matter who they are. I think it is because they plan for the long term use of the servers, and not the release moment, whenever everyone that thinks they might play are trying all at once. Many of these people will not buy the game, some of those will not subscribe for long. It will not be that bad for long.

You guys are totally right. I'm going to have to wait a while now, because I just can't take the risk.
If I can get onto Siel (number 500 in the queue now), I will try and IM the person and offer a server trade or ask them really nicely. But I'm 99% sure that won't work.

Yeah, I don't care that much.

Oh, I agree. But I'm still mad.
Hence the QQ.

Thanks for the heads up. I was going to re-roll my toons when I got logged back in. Going to hold off on that for now

WTF? No subscription fee?

That is all I will risk tonight.
