Yes its true, the game hasnt been scraped all togehter. Climax is carriying on without that money support from games workshop (though they are still in talk's about game content) and are looking for a new publisher after kicking SEGA (good move imo).

Though my source is abit schechy it would seem that it was never scraped but put onto the "back burner". Climax CEO said they are hopeing that the WO will be out in around 18months time.

Soooooo happy if it does come out, imo it was going (well may still be) the best mmorpg game out.

Given the fact just how protective GW has been about their brand and their properties throughout the years, I highly doubt the veracity of this rumour. As I understand it Climax was just a contracted developer. Not sure who was going to do the actual distribution, but do you really believe that GW would have given up such a crate-blanche license to the main MMO property of their core asset? After all, an MMO business based on their brand and content will be a direct competitor for people's money when it comes to Warhammer. Check out their history. Check out how they have protected their tabletop business from competition. As much as I lament WH Online's demise, I'm pretty sure this is bogus. Either this will be controlled by GW or it won't be made. It's not as simple as Climax going out and securing some new funding.

Anybody with some real insight on this? What is teh actual state of the license?

I've heard from 3 different sources that WO is back. PC Gamer even did an interview with a head guy from Climax about it. It seems that GW is fine with it, they don't want to back it finacially and Climax still has the rights to make an MMO based on the WH world. All GW did was remove their finacial support.
