Question: Character Appearance Editing

TisiphoneTisiphone Member Posts: 486

I hear that one can edit their character's appearance after level 10 somewhere. I never found this in CB or OB.

This is -really- important to me because it affects how long I spend working on my character, and last time I spent too long I lost my character name to somebody else after the deletion period.

What can one change, how much does it cost, and where is it?

Please let me know.

I don't remember the price.  There is a "plastic surgery" ticket that's required, but I never learned how to get one.  Someone else will have to cover that.

Oh, I seem to recall that you can only do it once or twice?  Again, someone will have to comment on that, but expect it to be very expensive.

What I do know for sure is that you can change everything.  You're taken back into the character creation screen and can do a complete rebuild, and can even go so far as to change your character's sex.

In addition to this you can buy dye for your character's hair.  This is separate from the complete over haul and I found the merchant in the same location as the appearance-only clothing (the hanbok, Christmas clothing, and so on).  This seemed to be the same as dye for your armor, but more expensive (some thousands of kinah).  It wasn't terribly expensive, and there was a preview window as I recall.

Anyhow, that should get you started.  Someone who explored it more thoroughly than I will have to fill in the gaps.

Im in the same boat as you.  What you need to do is go into the character creator and make the character you want.. just to see what settings you need to use as a template (dont actually create one).  Make screenshots of the sliders, make screenshots close up of the face.  Write down the basics of how to recreate it (the numbers for head, body, face, hair, decor, tattoos etc.).  Do it twice if you need to in order to recreate the toon within a couple minutes (I can redo mine in 2 minutes).  You can mess around with making a character as much as you want, you may find some better options in the process.

Then go back to the character again and follow your notes.  Maybe use windowed mode for your screenshots, or write them down or print them out.  When your comfortable about recreating him/her within a couple minutes, delete your toon and make note of the exact time you deleted it (helps if you have an hour/minute/second watch handy and delete it on a whole number)  Then go imediately to character creator and follow your notes recreating the toon and put the name in and wait until the 6 minute mark comes up by hitting the "check name availability" or "create" button.  When it comes up, the toon should be able to be created.

I actually tested this out on an open server tonight.  I was able to recreate my character with about 4 minutes to spare to tweak.. went flawlessly.  Another thing to keep in mind, tomorrow most folks are going to have all the characters they wanted to make created.  It should be much safer to do tomorrow, just dont wait til tuesday or you'll be in queue hell again.

Great plan. I forgot about window mode. All the same, I think I'll work on my alt for a couple weeks before I even try. I'm honestly too scured. If I lost my name in under three minutes, there's some crazy going on.
