Could I have some advice please guys for AION!
Hi Everyone
Just wondering how you are finding Aion so far? I've been looking for a new MMO for some time and been considering Aion or Final Fantasy XIV. But it is confusing i just dont know what to do.
I'm after a game thats epic, has a great community and can play as much or as little as I like. I would also like to be a healer class.
THe graphics of the game look really nice but could you please let me know how you are enjoying it, and would you recommend it to a friend?

Well to say it simply if you like pvp more play Aion, if you like pve more wait for FFXIV. That said and this is no game bashing I love pvp but didn t care much for Aion in the least.
The game is ok. It reminds me alot of Age of Conan so far. The starting areas are pretty linear. Like little bubbles of map connected by tunnels. Each time you progress in the bubble gets higher level monsters. It is NOT open like you can go in any direction. That's my biggest pet peeve in game because it makes leveling alts and characters so mundane, you can't really go exploring and finding camping/hunting spots. You are forced along the path. The gameplay is pretty basic, fight mobs kill it, repeat. There are a ton of quests which you are forced to grind "blax bears" until you get 8 pelts then return. So you have about 40 people trying to kill those as they spawn while other creatures aren't being attacked at all. There are choke points in quests like have to click a "cute bunny" that spawns every minute or so, and once you click it, it depawns, so you ahve about 40 people waiting and tryuing to click the cute bunny to proceed and its a race to see who can click it first (it spawns in the same spot)... I did not die even with 3 monsters on me when I was playing a priest.
That said thats the annoying factors. The good factors is what they do have in game is pretty polished. There is no graphical bugs, there is no UI bugs, and no quest bugs as of yet.
The game did not feel very deep, and seemed kind of "noob" so far with little difficulty, minimal adventuring (hard to do with a theme park type MMO, it is not sandbox at all)... However, if you just want to log in, do some quick monster smashing, then this game works well. It's not beyond anything we've seen so far and is pretty much the same scenario we've seen so many times before. However, if you just want a quick and dirty game you can log in whack monsters (unless stuck at a choke point) then this game may be up your alley. I was not impressed, and I expected more, so I feel a bit disappointed. But I was not overly turned off by it either, I think its better than WoW or AoC, but not great like EQ1, Vanguard (today not launch), AC which had a higher difficulty and better sandbox feel to the game which brings in immersion because you feel lost in a big world, this game does not do that. I'd give it a 7 out of a 10 as far as execution and what it does, but it's not the best thing since sliced bread.
Thank you for the feedback. I think tho the game looks graphicaly amazing it is not enough.
I'll wait a while and see how it goes or simply wait for FFXIV

You do realize that there's tons of info, impressions, reviews etc. about the game everywhere (even on these forums)?
Why are you basing your opinion on ONE guy's opinion? it's all subjective, you might want to read a bit more before making a decision lol.
Yeah you are right. Its just confusing and I dont wanna be let down like I was with war. lol
I'm looking at more reviews now, one thing tho that is important does the game have a roleplay server?.
No official role playing servers.
I doubt you'll seem much any more in future MMO's, RPing is effectively dead it seems.

Not an official RP server, but those 4 servers are regarded as the unofficial RP ones by the game's players:
North America - Role players - [East] Lumiel
Europe - Role players - [ENG] Gorgos
Germany - Role players - [GER] Balder
France - Role players - [FRA] Vidar

It is the best collection of ideas from mmorpg gaming in the last 10 years. Most evrything that made WoW & Everquest great is present in Aion, some concepts from Guild wars as well like the cinematics, and graphics unrivaled by mmorpg standards to date. Pound for pound it is the best by the book mmorpg on the market as of today.
I won't be playing it simply becasue it does nothing new, nothing I have not done or seen 200+ hours of before. The combat is mmorpg 101, in terms of the skill bar, leveling, questing. There is just nothing that makes me want to say "WoW this is something amazing" The one unique feature which is not really unique I found was the PVP/PvE mix in game play. As a strong PvE focused player this was a turn off for me however, there is no doubt in my mind its one of Aion's biggest selling points and a well done system as well. I would say if you are happy with the status quo, what is out there right now but you want something that improves on all its aspects but changes very little Aion is 100% the right game to go. If you want a revolutionary shift in mmorpg gaming Id say wait until 2010-2011 when new more original games without levels, weapon use based progression. Basically sandbox games with Aion quality storytelling and ps3 graphics will be available.
And as of right now there is no RP servers, nor did I run into any RP players in the CB or open beta.
