New to LoTRO: Classes

Hi! I'm new to LoTRO (I chose Meneldor as my server, btw) and I was just wondering if Runekeeper (if thats not one of the new class names then I apologize lol) would be a cool class to start as. If not then I will just choose something else, based on your opinions. Thanks!

    It all depends on your play style. The runekeeper is a duel DPS/Healing class.

    The traditional roles are as follows...

    Tank = Guardian

    Healer = Minstrel

    Ranged DPS = Hunter

    Melee DPS/Off  Tank = Champion

    The other classes are more of less hybrids.

    If you play another MMO, tell me what your favorite class is and I'll try and match you up with the closest LOTRO class.

    I really like the Runekeeper.  It is a really fun class to play.

    I agree with the other comment though, it just depends what you enjoy.  If you like to Tank then you'd be happier with a Guardian or Warden.  If you like to heal, RK's are ok, but minstrels are a LOAD of fun.

    The only class I really don't like in LotRO is Burg, and I know many people that love those...

    I'd say roll a few up and see what you like.  You can hit lvl 10-15 easily in 5-6 hours play so try some out and see what fits you!

    The rune keeper and warden are theoretically classes that experienced players might find easier.

    For example, the rune keeper has heals or damage. However the more you use one the more effective that line becomes and the less effective the other becomes.

    So if all of a sudden you need to put off a major heal and you have been mostly doing damage, that heal will be less major than you might like it to be.

    But I agree with the others, follow what you really enjoy.

    Ah, ok I understand. I used to like spellcasting (still do, I really like Runekeeper), but now I'm really into being able to dish out some melee damage AND heal at the same time. But thanks you guys for responding! Think I'll try out the Runekeeper for a bit. If I don't like it I can always make a new character lol.
