I don't usually play games on release because of the problems with dc, patches and full servers. I played the open beta and liked the game, just wondering if they will add more servers and whether i would be best waiting to create a character on a new server. Any thoughts?

Assuming your profile is correct and you're from the UK:
I'm not sure how the EU/EN servers are doing, but I'm sure someone will happen along that can tell you up quick.
Cheers.

If you plan on joining either the new server or one of the less populated ones than I don't see a reason to wait. If you're dead set on joining one of the ones with heaviest populations than I would hold off about a week until things get situated.
EDIT: Oh since Golden pointed out you're in the UK I should probably just bow out because I'm really not privy to the status of the EU servers.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
The EU only have the oficial lunch at 25th, so if u can wait, wait.
No dc's, no patch's (as been done on OB) but a lot of servers are full and having waiting qeues to get in.
I play on Gorgos, the worst for me was 30min waiting (as Asmodian and not mention sunday) but other server are having long qeues, it seams.
So, if u can wait a few days, wait.
my 2cents
This question relates to starting the game, so I posted it here:
You guys talk about EU servers, US servers etc...
Will I be able to buy a copy here in CAN and decide to make a char on a EU server.
Living in the Atlantic time zone usually plagues me when trying to keep up with West Coasters
Thank you.
Airel, Elyos had about a 5 min queue during primetime yesterday, not bad at all.
When I said i had "time", i meant virtual time, i got no RL "time" for you.
If you decide to play, dont pick Spatalos, i did my preselect characters on there then gave them up as the 3 hour+ queues were too much. Now I play on Castor, havent noticed any queues so far
I'm on spatalos yeah there's a queue but fortunatly is on 1h.
Damn 2nd trying to re entering the game 1st time I got a d/c when I was 30+/2k now this time still 45min left >_>
If you have the willpower, it is always best to wait a week or two after a game's release
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
Maybe you could just wait a few hours or a day to see which servers are filling up and then pick one with a low population. I certainly would not do what I did and log on 10 seconds after release! Even with 10 channels waiting in line for that damn cute rabbit was a pain. And don't EVEN get me started on the Brax...
The game has proven to be quite popular in the States but I think you can still get on some servers without much of a queue.
I'm not telling which server I'm on, but my longest wait since launch has been 3 min. I'm level 19 and always quit the game and never open an afk shop, so with careful server choice there is no need to wait over a day.
If you can than I'd say wait a week.
Thank you everyone for your replies. I will just pretend that the game hasn't been released yet and get it later. Was just confusing when i was reading posts by the developers on the eu site about what servers are best for each language (english wasn't listed) so i don't want to get stuck in a server where the dominant language isn't english.
Also it will be my first p2p game, im a sucker for asian f2p item mall grinders (end up spending more a month on the item mall and getting nowhere in the games as i'm not rich irl)
Waiting is not that bad an idea but we don't know yet how soon the queue problem will be fixed. They are adding a new server to the US. I would recommend being on that server, might reduce the clutter.
The game is fantastic I highly recommend buying it whether or not you wait the week.
P.S. Triniel has had five hour waits, for those discussing wait times. I would log at 4 and not get in until 7 most days, but people logging in at 7 cant get in until around 1 or 2. The personal shop is the game's only problem.
If i was you i'd wait, you could mess about in character creation for a few days.
There are really only 2-3 US servers that you will have to wait the 5+hr. Most..as I was testing all day you could get right in or maybe have like hour or so queue. The people mainly complaining are the people from those 2 servers or so that decided everyoen from aionsource should play on the same server and want to know why it's so backed up. I play on Siel which is a West server which was on High since 3pm yesterday EST and stayed on High just about all night. I had a qeueu around 9 of like 500 people whihc only took about 20 min. The vocal minority know's how to be..vocal.
Wait for new servers then hop on them, that way everyone will be at the same lvl as you. Go to an older server and by the time you get to the abyss at lvl25 the rest of the peeps will be lvl40+.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
Sucks waiting till the 25h here in the EU
