NCSoft boasted that their servers can hold around 7K players simultaniously.
NCSoft said the game has "almost" 400K at start. On Xfire you could even see it could be around the 500K mark. But perhaps Xfire Aion players are over represented because it is "new".
The count is simple: 13 X 7K = 91 K players on each continent can play, the rest is in the queuing line:
The good news is that a normal activity of a newly launched game is 3 to 1 people who play at the same time after a few days.
So within a week there will be no more queuing time.
The bad news is that post WOW not one single mmorpg (except EVE) maintained a 30% retention rate.
To me it is doubtful Aion could break that tradition (nothing new here) and apparently .... NCSoft knows this too.
So where exactly is the problem ???
Want a real mmorpg? Play WOW with experience turned off mode and be Pve_Pvp King at any level without a rat race.
I have limited playing time most days ,so I guess they are not good for me , though once I am in game I tend to forget about login queues pretty quickly.
That being said they do seem to be the worst log in queues that I can remember , I had an hour and 19 minutes last night so I only ended up with an hour of in game time.
I'm sure NC Soft will address the issues soon though and Aion is well worth the the trouble ... so far !
Also I know it seems weird but the times for me have got longer since they fixed the Personal Shop exploit !! lol

That's likely just due to more people rolling on that server... We rolled on Spatalos and got to lvl 10 before getting sick of the 2 hour queues, we then rolled on Castor which had no queues. Last night the queue on Castor was 10 minutes longer than Spatalos due to rerollers and new accounts. It is indeed very annoying and NCsoft are basically a bunch of bottlers making a decision on server amounts that will force a good percentage to leave regardless of the game. Stupid imo.

And about eight to ten times the concurrent user numbers you'll see two months down the line.
- RPG Quiz - can you get all 25 right?
- FPS Quiz - how well do you know your shooters?
