Looking for Sandbox/Classless MMO

Andyny91Andyny91 Member Posts: 18

I'm looking for a game that doesn't have a class system. I just want to level up skills, like in Runescape or more recently Fallen Earth. I was in the Fallen Earth open-beta and I'm thinking this might be the best choice but I want more input before I make a decision. I want it to be kind of more open too, like multiple places to quest at certain 'skill levels' if you understand what I mean. I'm downloading Eve online right now to try it too. PvP is also definitely a bonus, which is why I was also thinking about Darkfall. I need help!

    SWG has zombies!

Yeah, didn't do it for me either.

I'd say if sand boxes are your thing, go with FE.

The two you have named are probably the only two I would reccomend you check out.  And the ONLY reason why I reccomend DF is because it isn't Sci-Fi based like EVE.  Just wanted to give you a non-space option.  While the EvE community is most certainly not peace-loving hippies who help everyone and are nice to everybody, from what I have read, even with all their faults, the EvE community members are far and away a better class of people than then slimes that currently occupy DF.

Oh damn, yeah, forgot about Fallen Earth.  Thanks above poster!

EVE is your best space game of this type. Fallen Earth for your typically playing an avatar if you do not like fantasy. If you like fantasy, Ryzom is amazing as well. Those are by far the best games of the type you want out there.

    WTF? No subscription fee?

Well, you could check out FF14 if you want to see something different.

You choose a weapontype you want to skill up and you can choose between fighting, crafting, and weapons for gathering resources. You can also switch between these skills by just changing your weapon at will.

There are 'classes' but really they're just names to identify the weapon user and do nothing in particular. Like if you used sword and shield the game would say you're a gladiator, or if you used a hammer you'd be a blacksmith.

The system is really free and diverse like often in sandbox MMO's, so you might like it.

Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

Yeh eve ryzom, darkfall and fallen earth are mainly games with skills levels, i would love to play darkfall as its probably the closest to runescape but seriously the community is crap and devs are well liars so at this moment im looking forward to mortal online. Also if you want a more pve focused game, you cant go wrong with ryzom.

well, if you love PvP, i would recommend Face of Mankind, its FPS tho

as for PvE, Ryzom is the most sandbox amongst them all

    So What Now?

Mortal Online is sandbox and classless but will probably not be released for another 5-6 months.

Right now I am playing Champions Online, themepark unfourtanetely but it is classless. You can pick whatever powers you want.
