Hm dunno bout the NA servers but i guess there aren't enough servers for EU.

There were queues already before release date lol.

So far, highest queue i had was yester, 1h15mins which turned out to be around 35'.

Truth is, that NC needs to add more UK servers, and even more frenchy ones lol, they got 3 only !! It's like impossible to play there lol. On the other hand, i strongly believe that nobody would have a queue on German Server as they got 4 (or 6 i forgot).

And another thing that makes EU more complicated than U.S is that NC couldn't scale servers based on  the potential sale of the country (U.S speaks one language only, unless u set up spanish servers as well). So there was no way to tell NC  where people would go (u got German guilds & french guilds on UK server, + all the other countries around).

Considering the availability of hardware these days and the responsiveness of manufacturers, it wouldn't take a monkey more than a  couple days to scale it to the demand. Let's just wait and see what NC does by the end of the week, then complain again if necessary.

Oh and for all crying WoW fanboys, never forget that WoW was called "World of Waiting" for a good reason, peeps had queues in EU servers MONTHs after release at peak hours on popular servers (RL dudes used to launch game, go eat n whatever then play).

    You're a Hardcore Survivor!

You not only survived the zombie apocalypse, but did it with style! Your mastery of zombie knowledge, survival tactics, and weaponry is nearly unmatched. Congratulations, for you are hardcore!

Just a copy/paste from aion website . Well it seems they are adding servers .

We have had a careful flow of new servers over the past couple of days in order to provide more options to old and new players alike. Join us today in welcoming two shiny new European servers to our growing family.

The first of the two newcomers is French language [FRA]Deltras, named after the renowned Storm Legion’s Centurion himself. The Storm Legion was the first to explore the Abyss, and its members were the first of Elyseans to discover the Asmodians.

Second out is English language [ENG]Kahrun. A famous legend from the world of Atreia tells of two Empyrean Lords falling in love with each other – against the will of Aion. Kahrun was their child. The legend was never meant to be told, leaving Kahrun’s name engulfed in a mist of secrets and uncertainty. Make sure to play through Aion’s many quests and take part of their intricate storylines to find out more.

The ability to transfer your characters from one server to another is a feature we are working on, but it is not ready for implementation yet. We are hoping to introduce character transfers in a couple of months’ time.

Servers will be added and queues sorted out.

For once a company is doing it right so that we don't play on empty servers and everybody is complaining .

Give them a week at least .

The price of the retail version includes the first month of play. So you all did pay for it . Personally I do not understand why some call it a free month, because it is not.

Its a free month because it is a perk of the purchase, not an included percentage of the cost. Your paying 100% of that price for the game, not 75% for the game and 25% for the first month. Also, on the game box itself, and in every advertisement for buying the game it states clearly that the first 30 days of gameplay is free, hence 'free month'.

I think most peoples problem was that NCsoft could have stated a lot of this up front so they knew what was going to happen. But once they publicised their 400k pre-orders they went quiet for a while and should have at least said 'this is our stratagy:...'.

Good news anyway, i hope 2k people reroll off my server within a couple of weeks as I don't want to have to do it again.

Honesty, if you were NCSoft, would you have stated anything? Look at every other game put out in the last 2 years, every word they stated was taken as gospil, and turned against them the very second it didnt' go as 'planned'. I think they did the only smart thing, they dug down and stuck to thier plan, and are letting everyone know what they are doing AS they do it, not before hand so they can be judged/critizied for it before it happens.

NCSoft even tried to do the 'up front' at the start of this with the twitter, it lasted a whole 4 days before they stopped it becuase of all the heat they were getting when plans changed along the way. Thats when they went quiet, and rightly so in my opinion.

I understand, but when you buy the game you have paid for that so-called free month. It is part of the deal. Legally you stand a chance of getting a refund for the time you cannot play during that first month, because it was part of the offer made. Whether you call it free, or not, you paid for it.

So I prefer not to call it a free month of game play, because you did pay for it.

Yes, patience IS a virtue. Its pretty much lost on all too many. As for the second, I have to disagree.  Complaining/"whining" if enough people do it, does result in change. Or the people walk.  There are many, MANY other games to play these days.

I'm happy as hell to see some of these people getting mad and threatening to leave. Its been a WHOLE WEEK! Oh please people, yes you have queues, yes its effecting YOU, "OMFG I can't play on the server I want to when I want to". Yeah, yeah, yeah. I hear ya. Gonna take your money back are ya? Well since you didn't actually pay for the 1st month your threat carries about 0% weight behind it.

Sorry if I sound like I dont care if you guys walk, truth is I dont. I have NO QUEUE - EVER. I made my choice to move to a less populated server/faction - you didn't - so sit in queue and shut up already. Hey look at it this way will ya, you get off work and have 4 hours to go out to diner with your girl. First place you stop has a 3 hour waiting list to get a table. If you stay there you CHOOSE to waste 3 of you 4 hours just to get in the door. YOUR choice, YOU make it. But, if you want to go to a differnet place you can get a table right that minute, eat, and get some alone time afterwards. Me, I'll take the alone time afterwards, you can wait for your 'special diner experience'. Just do the rest of us a favor and either walk or keep it to yourself, we didn't make you choose what you chose. Personally I'm getting tired of having to accommidate the whinings of the me, me, I, I crowd that thinks the world is owed to them, its not.

Curious here... How is it that *you* have to accommodate anyone in this matter?? As for the launch spike, that was predictable, as was the player response to it. I suspect NCsoft knew before hand this would happen, and made a calculated decision not to invest in extra servers and bandwidth to deal with it.  For two reasons. One, because that would have cost more money(and they are *all* about the business model), and two, if they opened too many, when the first month rush is over, they might have had too few players on some servers. Thats not good in this type of PvP game.  Not to mention if they had to do server mergers, that could lead to rumors that panic investors/share holders.  From their perspective, it was better to annoy some players and lose them, than to spend extra money and perhaps end up with too many servers.

That is a calculated risk. I hope for their sake they got it right.

BTW Playing at launch is a calculated risk too. You known you might be facing queues when the game is popular.

Currently I don't, not with this game at this time. NCSoft is handling this perfectly to this point in my opinion. They are listening to people a tad bit more than I would if I was them however, the 30 minute private store change was entirely a result of the 'whining' the poster I replied to was recommending others should do. I feel the problem with the queues to be caused more by the large influx of kinah farmers than by AFK player stores. I can go to about any zone right now and find a good 100 farmers collecting, but I doubt I have seen a single city with more than 100 shops set up yet.

The official forums were lit up like Christmas with post after post of 'get rid of the shops NOW!' requests until they announced the 30 min change. Will it fix the queues, most likely no, there are still 1500 farmers logged in 24/7 on every server/faction eating up play slots for those stuck in queue. Its not a problem on off hours when I play most times, but add in peak traffic on TOP of the farmer load and you have 4hr+ queues.

The statement I made about being tired of accommodating is based off this. I, as so many others do, like to go out and collect wares and put up a shop to sell our 8 different stacks of gatherables while we go to bed. Now however thats not an option, and all because of the 'whinings' some recommend. I dont mind having change in place based off accurate and well thought out suggestions, but the knee jerk response to assumptions needs to be taken out of the picture.

I think that Private Store incident was the result of different paying method. In Asian versions (correct me if I'm wrong) players are charged by hours played. If in that payment model you leave your character AFking, you lose your gaming time. In Western version you pay monthly thus it doesn't matter if your character is online 24/7.

They need to leave the private store as is or make it so it stays when the character is offline. Otherwise the problem will return once Private Stores are changed back.

Your correct, the payment/play method is different, and why NCSoft didnt' anticipate the private stores having an effect through the Beta testing here. True it may be a contibuting factor to the queue problem, but was it THE factor, I doubt it. The idea of it being the cause wasn't presented until some people started putting titles on thier shops stating they were in store to avoid queue. This angered several players who had sat in queue for a while, and they voiced it in the official forums as if it was THE only problem. You know how these things get started, one person sees one thing, gets mad at it, says something about it, and 500 other people go 'OH YEAH, THATS IT!!'.

In this case, NCSoft went on the side of caution and used it as a way to remove SOME of the cause of the queues. Thats why I said they are doing everything right, even if they know the private stores aren't the main cause of the queues, they know its part of it and were willing to sacrifice some parts of gameplay to help the public image during launch week. Even if it doesn't lower the queues they win by earning the 'listening to thier player base' award. As for it being changed back, I'm sure they will, once the cause of the queues is fixed. Which like I said before, I dont think the private stores had much to do with in reality.

Uhm, Wow and WAR had the same problem in the start. And they weren't the only one this is sadly a common problem.

Never buy a MMO at release date, wait 2 weeks at least until the publisher have enough servers running.

So chill out. If the same problem is around after 3 weeks it is time to get upset (Wow had it for months however so even companies like Blizzard mess up).

Looks like the new EU servers are on the list, but not online just yet.

    aionstatus.com/

    [EU][ENG] Kahrun

    [EU][FR] Deltras

The new German server that was introduced before the weekend must be the following, if I'm not mistaken:

    [EU][GER] Nerthus

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess you dont' play Aion?? Amazing how the people who dont play this game are the ones saying it sucks. Or is it that you did play it but got your butt handed to you the first time you got any real PvP and figured it MUST be the game since you were so great in some other gear based arena combat system that allowed bunny hopping as a viable victory strategy (oh I'm sorry, thats called 'skill' I almost forgot).

Frustration factors heavily in how a game does in this modern market, we play games to escape our lives and unwind, when you go to play a game and get ha ha no game for you, and a long ques people get ticked off. Now sure the game maybe the best ever made, it may be crap but ticked off players in the first few days = a bad first impression. So you build on the bad with a few bugs here and there, some annoying people in the game and you start losing a few subs, not many just a few. Those few however leave people missing the friends they were playing to connect with, so you lose a few more.  Then after the first month you lose the looky lues that were playing just to check things out. Power gamers begin to trickle out after that, along with gamers that fail at the learning curb. Then attrition starts in as players reach max lvl and start wondering what to do now.

This is pretty much the modern mmo market in a nut shell, you got to have something hidden away up your sleave to stop this cycle.

The situation on the  EU forums is a total farce. My cousin has only been able to play maybe twice and we were in the head start. Yesterday i queued for over 7 hour's, no at once 3 hour's twice once because i was disconected and had to queue to get back in the second 3 hours the client shut down on my when i got to the 20th position.

I know people who have just stopped trying to even play the game cause its impossible to even queue.

Then when you get in to the game its so over crowded it's a pain in the ass to do anything. And that is in the zone's with channel's i dread to think what the non channeled zone's are going to be like.
