How Does DnL Stand Up?

in Dark and Light
Okay, been a longtime EQ1 player here, some DAoC.  Looking forward to playing EQ2.  Also looking forward to Vanguard: Saga of Heroes.  Today I just discovered DnL.  Not having the time right now to browse all of DnL's website, and maybe there is a Beta tester here?  I want to ask, how does DnL stand-up?  Especially to Vanguard?

    Its important to note that Dark & Light will be released many months before Vanguard. Vanguard at best will come out late 2005.
