Hit 21 and Now it all changes...

ReanimReanim Member Posts: 103

I broke down and got the game ( Even though I Hate GG ). First 21 levels were fun then I hit Eltnen. Way Way Way too many players and way way way to few mobs. No channel change option.

Is this what folks were complaining about when they said its a grind? There is no way I am going to compete for mobs. This a game design fault or am I missing something here? Que times to get on the server and then have to wait your turn to get a mob.

in Eltnen there are plenty of places that spawn the same mob u just gottta find them and in eltnen its not all about grinding the reason there is one channel is because rifts appear in Eltnen and asmo can show up or u can rift to there town also word of advice. grouping will make ur questing easier and dont quit! lvl 25 hella fun

Not being a dick, but you've clearly never played a new MMO before.

Every new MMO I've played has had these problems. Give it 2-3 weeks and it'll calm down a lot.

I checked out theobomos. Same issue.... Mob density is way way low. Lots of players and not enough mobs. Even without the other players My SM would burn through the small groups of mobs rapidly.

If they would have kept the mob density up in the post 21 zones like they did in the 1-20 areas this would have been great. As it is its not for me. Laggy servers at max capacity with massive player over population in small playing areas is not alot of fun.

Yes I have played many MMO's at start but this is the first I have seen this bottlenecked/overpopulated with small lvling areas. I remember wow having que's but the zones were huge.

It's not a bad game and it entertained me for a few days and thats money well spent.

I would suggest you try to level to 25 as this is when you get to see glimpse of the endgame - Abyss, it is quite spectacular :)

Nah, this game is definently not for him. Some people complain in other games they only see a human character twice before hitting level 20. Now that Aion is out and there are 100's of people around him in an MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER game he is chickening out.

Go play a single player game OP.

  • LydonLydon Member UncommonPosts: 2,938

So basically you're complaining about there being too many people in a massively multiplayer online game?

Weird...maybe MMO's are not for you? Plus, if you level with the thousands upon thousands of people who got the game at release, you can expect to have to play with and compete against those same people. You could always wait a little for everyone to get ahead of you, or you could get ahead of them. Either way, it's an MMO and it's all part of the fun.

I quite enjoy competing for mobs. Makes questing less tedious adds some drama.

No need to get all shitty with the OP.

Most MMORPGs are more PvE centric and thus have a nice loadout of zones for you to go play in when an area gets over crowded (Hell even WAR had 3 different PvE routes pre side). Aion is not a PvE centric game though in any way shape or form. Its based more on the end game PvPvE aspect and so it is kinda PvE *lite* of you will.

This may cause you some issues while initially leveling OP and thats to be expected. Bottom line is that Aion is not really designed for you to PvE to level cap, your supposed to engage in the "War" pretty early unlike some games that would have you grind to level cap before starting the fun ... and from what I understand after the initial zones the PvE leveling route is pretty confining. The game was designed to get you out into the Abyss at 25 where some would argue the "real" game begins.

Stick with it and try to pass the 25 marker before you give up on Aion. Although it may be irritating crowding for PvE for a few levels until you hit 25 you'll be in a better position doing so now rather than waiting for the "crowd" to pass you and grinding in peace. Reason being that once you hit 25 and start in the Abyss you really dont want to be too far away from the leveling curve or your going to be free walking Abysal points :(

You could of course just wait and come back to Aion in a month, the PvE areas will most likly be pretty plesent at that time .. although you'll have to learn the fine art of running away pretty quick when you hit the Abyss and level 40+'s start hunting you down :)

Ignore the fanboys who wont hear any "wrong" about thier game .. Aion does have issues but from what I can see the small irritation of contested spawns for a few levels will pay off once you get into the Abyss and start playing "For real"

    To OP:

Give it time... I was competing for kills in most popular new releases.

To be honest, I've been playing mmo's way to long and don't really want to stop but at this point I don't mind easing off and enjoying my levels =)

So give it a few weeks and things will cool off =)

Wow, the fanboism in this thread is near vomit inducing. I am making no statement about Aoin good or bad, but the OP says something that (by the standards of these forums) is not really that bad and someone called in the Kool-aid packing, rainbow gun wielding, army of fanism.

To be honest, there were only 2 rotten apples in this topic, I would hardly call that an army. There were also civil responses.

I wasn't saying anyone was acting bad or flaming anyone it just seemed like I landed in Carebare land when I read thorugh this thread.

Bascially, yes it is on both accounts.  However, at least there's not the mass gank fest added to it that was in beta.  You couldn't even get to the mobs most of the time back then.  Lets hope that doesn't resurface the closer the poplulation gets to level cap.

Not being a dick either.. I don't even play Aion, but I thought I would point out that its not a problem that every new MMOG has. This month we saw the release of three new MMOGs and Aion is the ONLY one to have this problem. In Champions new channels are created on the fly as needed. This is what Aion should have done, but I think the number of channels is hard coded. The other new release, Fallen Earth, doesn't have this problem because the game world is large enough to handle crowding (unfortunately the servers have trouble with the load, but that is a different problem).

I would almost go as far as to say that this is more of a 'last gen' problem since it seems to be addressed in most newer MMOG's.

    ^^

I don't think CO and FE have the same amount of ppl trying to play the game like aion.

ya, lets further seperate all the players even more in a pvp game at the higher levels when PvP starts becoming a bigger factor in the gameplay -- great idea !!   I think the fact you "DONT EVEN PLAY AION" is why you make such a silly comment.  Kinda defeats the purpose of rifts opening when you have players spread all over different channels in the same zone -- dont ya think ?  Oh, wait, how would you know ? -- yo "dont even play Aion."

  • grapevinegrapevine Member UncommonPosts: 1,927

Rifts should have been removed, they are not a good mechanic of the game.   They serve no real point, other than a means of ganking or slowing down the PvE leveling of others.  PvP is fun, but it has its place and shouldn't be at the expense of those who have zero chance in PvE content zones.

  • flpboi43flpboi43 Member Posts: 17

Eltnen in the beginning can be a fight for mobs but yea the point is for the rifts...it does suck when a the asomodians come and all you see on your map are huge big red dots and your caught by yourself...it happened to me during OB and it was just fun...create an alliance and fight back...this game was built for PvPvE and it was the aim from the start and when you get caught in a mob of asmos create an alliance with anyone you see

  • grapevinegrapevine Member UncommonPosts: 1,927

Yeah, its was fun in beta when it was something new.  However, when it got to the point it was just an army camping the town, so nobody could even get out to quest,  it wasn't.

  • Morhiem and Eltnen are PvP zones, so they do not get channels.  Brus and Theo always have at least 2 channels because they are PvE zones.

I played on Nezekan in CBT and Morhiem was pretty much overrun perpetually with Elyos ganking was rampant and very disruptive.  But  I still made it to 25, garnted i grinded level 24 on mobs in eltnen because it was safer there than my home zone.  In release on a different server Elyos have come in force and been pushed out and there is really never the perpetual camp like there was in Beta.

I got the same issue as the OP. Past 20 in Mordheim it's overcrowded, even during non peak hours. It definitely makes the game less fun when you want to do quests around and it kinda ruins the immersion. However I agree that this issue is not a game flaw but is rather inherent to a release that has attracted alot of players. It will probably get much better in one week or two.

sounds very much like EQ - EQ was based around elitism in my mind - I didn't like it then and I don't like it now.. I guess I'll just stick to ps3 and wow for now...

  • LiddokunLiddokun Member UncommonPosts: 1,665

Eltnen is definitely crowded. I haven't seen any real pvp efforts yet in Eltnen by the other side (probably everyone is still trying to grind to 40). But hell yeah since the map has only 1 channel it's laggy as hell so I'm grinding the quests and get the hell out of there as fast as possible. Here's a tip tho, grind quest in the early morning US time when the map isn't as crowded. I simply harvest or craft in primetime US time as I have no desire in engage with the crowd.
