Thats just nasty and I thought I was messy. I sure as hell never had a pile up of cigarette butts like that when i smoked. I dont think its addiction to games I think its more like addiction to Crack. lol
As incredibly foul as this is, the site doesn't say this is caused from to much video game playing. Try not to make a connection with avid video game passion and this behavior as this looks like a classic case of OCD-Hoarding as it will only strengthen a bad stereotype.
This person who lived here probably has a mental disorder and deserves some sympathy for developing such a dibilitating affliction. OCD can manifest itself in many ways - one of them is Hoarding - and can paralyze one's ability to lead a happy life. If anything, it reminds me how lucky I am to go thru life as a so called 'normal' person.
I ask everyone to try to see some sympathy for this person despite this being somewhat eye-popping - as the person that has this affliction certainly sees this apartment in a much different persepctive than the rest of us.
Yeh, I saw these images quite a while ago whilst stumbling around online. If I recall correctly (cause I didn't go back now and re-read it all) there was something about a cat supposedly "living" there as well that the landlord couldn't find. Whereas it was beyond sad, it was also somewhat humorous.
Also, I agree with the previous poster regarding the fact that this person was obviously afflicted in some manner, as well as the one who stated "typical renter." Having managed several rental properties before, every landlord comes across a similar situation in some way shape or form at some point.

I'm suprised that the monitor is still able to run with all that's on it.
Typical renter...
