So if you buy this game expecting them to be similar, you will be disapointed. I was. I guess I should have researched it more. The controls are a bit odd compared to most games. If you play 2 or 3 mmo's at the same time like I do.....this game will screw you up a bit when you go back to the others. The game looks like a Half-Life jr mod team produced it except it is a big world. Crafting is a major part of this game. Crafty types just love this game. If you are not into that stuff, I suggest moving on. Many people really like this game. Diversity is what makes the world go around. You just will not find me around FE any longer. Oh and here's where the door hits me on the ass as I leave.

Thank god for that!
Seriously, Fallout 3 was NOT that good. I can't understand why so many people came to this game wanting it to be like Fallout 3.
Fallout 3 was just Oblivion running a Fallout total conversion mod. Its pretty much the exact same game but with guns and mutants. And Oblivion was just a dumbed down version of Morrowind, which was probably the only decent game that developer ever made. And yes I did play both Oblivion and Fallout 3, but I had to mod the hell out of them to make the gameplay tolerable and to add enough content to even make it worth the effort. Not to mention that Fallout 3 comes with SecuROM.
I think I've already spent more time playing Fallen Earth than it would take to beat Fallout 3 on a single play through. So boy am I glad this game isn't anything like Fallout 3.

I really liked Fallout 3. If Oblivian is very similar, I guess I'll have to give it a go. I never finish a game I don't like....much less even bother to mod it. I simply toss the discs or give them to friends. I'm glad you like FE. I was merely warning players with similar tastes that this game is not a Fallout 3 clone......wished it was though.

Inpiration for all us FE addicts.
He posted a solid review, game wasnt his cup of tequila. We all can dig that, he didnt bash and left with style(door hitin his ass and no whiney bitchen). Good poster, wish we had more of his/her ilk.
Your always welcome to a breath of my riggers mask poster.
Different era, different developers, different art style.
Yeah, totally different apocalypse.
I mean, you're spot on, but I don't know why somebody would assume this.
from a pure crafting point a view is a pain u must grind mobs in order to advance your crafting skills
BestSigEver :P
Of course not. And it is a good thing too.
Bethesda are working on their own MMO and if you loved F2, Oblivion and Daggerfall you should aim for it instead.
That finally the studios are strating to do their own thing is the best thing that happened to MMOs since EQ. I havn't tried FA myself yet but I applaud all smaller companies that are doing stuff their own way, not only the devs of this game but also CCP, Arenanet, Bioware, Aventurine, Star vault and the rest.
Not all of those devs games are good but the only way to evolve the MMOs now is to invent new things. We have come so far we can now with polishing up old features from EQ.
I think MMOs will be very different few years from now and it is thanks to companies like this.
Fallout 3 in my opinion was one over-rated game. It did nothing new and used an old engine. Fair enough fans of fallout got what they wanted but was it neccesary to over-hype it so much? i for one enjoyed oblivion more and thats not just because of its fantasy setting but generally it was just longer and better laid out game. As for Fallen Earth, the idea is perfect but lacks in other catagories (As most mmo's). This one is a gem but it needs time for it to develop into something much better, give it a few months and you'll have a worthy post-apocolyptic mmo.
Strange I found Oblivion absolutely GOD AWFUL! I mean that game was attrocious and Falout 3 was awesome. This game interested me because I thought it might be like Fallout and I thought about trying a trial when it comes out. Just hope the game can stand by itself

You wanna know why FE isn't like Fallout 3?
*looks around carefully
Let you in on a secret. FE started development 2 or 3 years before Fallout 3 did.
Weird huh.
The lesser of two evils is still evil.
There is nothing more dangerous than a true believer.
I find it interesting that you found Oblivion so horrific, yet loved Fallout 3. Both games are so much alike it's hilarious that Bethesda think that they released something revolutionary.
Aside from that, I'm with you. Even though I've not played this game...I hope it does well.

It's honestly like everyone logs onto WoW, and games like WoW, just to masturbate. Everyone plays by themselves, and when they don't, they get what they want and get off.

Not true, but not really going to argue with you over it. If you choose to do that, cool. Enterprising players will find other ways that are most certainly there.

Yeah, I'm not exactly sure what he means here either. Killing mobs has no direct effect on any of your crafting skills. About the only way I can see that this statement would make even a tiny bit of sense is if...
A. He means to say that your crafting skills are capped based on your character level + Stats, thus you must level up your character to advance your crafting skills.
or...
B. You have to scavenge components with which to craft things, which in turn improves your skills, thus you have to kill mobs and loot them for crafting parts. However thats only partly true because there are lots of way to get many different types of things to craft with and killing mobs isn't one of the better ones.
Either way the statement is not entirely ture and I think crafters should like this game a lot because its one of the few MMOs out there where crafting actually matters right from the very start of the game all the way up until the end and never gets bumped to second class by raid drops or other non-craftable items.
Which actually gives me another thought about Fallout 3: One of the mods I had to install just so I could tolerate it was one that made crafting relevant by allowing the player to modify their weapons and such. In Fallen Earth crafting is relevant right off the bat, which is just one of several reasons I feel its a VASTLY better game than Fallout 3 ever could have been.

This thread is the strongest argument for me to try Fallen Earth.
REALITY CHECK
It's not like Fallout at all. Coming from someone who loves Fallout and had played through 1, 2, and 3, Fallout is made Fallout by two things, atmosphere and comedy. The atmosphere is light, horrific sites are made less disturbing by little things like soda cans and various others little touches. Not to mention the humor in everything. Just look at the perks.
Fallen Earth doesn't have this, their apoc-universe is very serious and a bit creepy at moments. I was surprised when I saw a pale white head on a stick and a pile of rotting corpses next to CHOTA written in blood on a wooden sign. In something like a movie, this wouldn't be new, but it's something not really seen in MMORPGs before. It's a serious take on the apocalypse. Not to mention, FE is caused by a virus, Fallout is by a nuke.
